So drivers (including truckers) are driving in circles throughout the city of Avondale trying to get back on the freeway! Found a freeway onramp, but nooooooooooooooooo, it was closed! Had to turn around and continue driving in circles! The roads were dark and had terrible lighting. So you are driving through crops/farm areas and random housing areas and have no clue where you are going. Ended up driving through Tolleson where there was 1 sign that said detour with a small arrow! RIDICULOUS!

They have a TV to watch while you wait, no wifi though. When my number was called, I went up to the window (nice lady), paid my $20.00, and they printed out the birth certificate right then and there. Couldn't have asked for an easier transaction! I was a Phx resident for over 20 years and the services in that city are outstanding. I knew it would be hard to beat their library services, which are gorgeous facilities and well stocked. With that said though, Glendale has a reciprocity agreement so now I can use both. YEAH! When I arrived at the 59th location I was treated well and greeted by a friendly librarian who signed me up and did a great job explaining everything. This is a smaller branch and not as large or well stocked as the Phx locations but the facilities are very nice. It will do just fine. What was really fun was on the way home driving out of the parking lot I got to stop for a Peacock crossing, I was like, "Waaaaaaaaaa?" Then I realized they were out walking from the nearby awesome park they live at. So fun and cool!!!! Weird to have to stop in a parking lot to let Peacocks cross living in Phoenix Arizona and all. lol - I hope when you are there you watch out for them. I keep thinking most people might not expect them and might hit them if they drive unsafe. I would go back to this branch just to see the Peacocks. Ha!

They were insanely disorganized, and unless you've seen the news stories about this you may think I'm exaggerating. We had a FOUR hour line of cars to get to the supposedly VIP parking. Yes, it was literally over four hours. We missed most of the day. They had ONE (1) person checking tickets to let cars in. Let me say that again, ONE person to let cars in. Ridiculous. Inside, security was a mess, nobody knew which carts or what we should take to our again supposed VIP spot inside.

This station is the largest fire and EMS station in Peoria. The station name is technically Gene Mason Fire Station No. 1. Out front is a memorial. As the largest station, they have the most engines. Included is a ladder truck. Interesting fact. There is a way firefighters can attach to air while at the top of the ladder. This way, valuable time is not wasted with them coming down the ladder when their tanks get low. The ladder truck carries the spreader, a.k.a. jaws of life. In the City of Peoria, fire stations are not only fire stations. The fire station are fire and EMS. EMS, or emergency medical services, makes up approximately 80% of their calls. Here, all fire fighters must also be trained EMTs or paramedics. On top of medical services for humans, their trucks carry a small emergency medical bag for pets. This bag is only for extreme emergencies; when a pet is trapped in a fire. Otherwise, pets need to go to the proper veterinarian office.

Not a large place, which is great. People remember you and treat you like you've been there forever. Its great. I've had to come here for some pre-bids and bid openings. I hope I have to come back to this laid back, calming place. Take the time to look at their dedications to fallen officers, firefighters etc. I think its beautifully made. They have a time capsule to open in 2067. I cant wait to be there!! hahahahaha
