I was not aware that the court orders needed to be notarized, which I understand, so I went to the courthouse, got everything taken care of, and rescheduled my appointment for 2:30 PM on Monday. The frustrating part is that they do not provide the notarized form themselves, so you have to go completely out of your way to find a notary and get the form notarized on your own. I did exactly that, left work early, made the drive, and showed up for my appointment because these are court orders that have to be followed and appointments are already difficult to get. After arriving, filling everything out, and waiting, I was contacted at 2:40 PM and told that I needed another form notarized because they didn't have the form they needed. Apparently, they had known about this issue all day, yet no one bothered to contact me before my appointment. This is incredibly inconvenient and could have easily been avoided with basic communication. I already took time off work, drove there, and followed the instructions I was given, only to find out after I arrived that there was another requirement they could have told me about beforehand. Why schedule someone for an appointment, let them drive all the way there, fill out paperwork, and then tell them they need another notarized form that you don't even provide? People have jobs, responsibilities, and limited time. This was a complete waste of my time and extremely frustrating. Very disappointed with the lack of communication and professionalism. If there are specific forms or notarization requirements, they should clearly tell people before their appointment so they have the opportunity to get everything done ahead of time.

We were told to be there no later than 9:00 am for an oath ceremony that started at 9:30. Well 9:30 came and went and it wasn't until after 1:00 pm that the ceremony started. To add insult to injury, we were charged $14 for parking. Yes they charge parking per hour. This was $14 for our car pus $14 that my brother payed for his car. So not only did we have to wait hours for the ceremony, we were also being charged for parking while we waited. To sum it up: we waited hours, we where charged per hour we waited, and on top of that, we just handed our son over to you Uncle Sam. Nicely played Uncle Sam, nicely played

The shit that Jared pushes for that shitty, stupid chain offers better sandwiches than this crap. But, this is MEPS -- so, quit your whining. I said quit your whining! In government workplaces, there are always those employees that you wonder if they are outright trying to get fired. Now, at your local, unfriendly MEPS, this is magnified x5000 for certain staff members. They will drive you all the way to the edge of patience, tolerance, and acceptance of abuse, and then reel you back in to ensure you still enlist and actually give up some time to Uncle Sam. It is like a game -- and, quite impressive is the way they play it. They are artists painting a vacuously visceral narrative on the canvas which just so happens to be your poor feelings. Now, do not get me wrong, there are still cool, likeable staff here. Unfortunately, they live and operate side-by-side some of the most comically abrasive personalities in the city ... nay, state. Together, the nice MEPS staff members and the big meanie-heads, will get your ass into whatever service branch you are joining. Oh, you are getting in (unless you get medically disqualified), but you may cry before you find your way to the oath room*. And they will not be tears of joy. My mom was dealing with a medical issue and was transported to the hospital and was delirious. When…read moreshe got to the hospital they couldn't verify her identity since she didn't have her ID with her and couldn't give the doctors her name, so she was booked in as a Jane Doe so when I called they said they didnt have her there. I called the other local hospitals and they also said they had no record, and the ambulance company couldnt tell me where they took her due to HIPAA. After over 4 hours of trying to find out where she was with no new information I called Avondale PD for help. Officer Murti came, called the hospital she was supposed to be transported to, who said they did have a patient listed as a Jane Doe. He took her ID, went to the hospital and confirmed it was her and called to let me know. He was very professional and helpful. Thanks to ADOT closing down I-10 and diverting ALL traffic off of the interstate and into the lovely metropolis that is Avondale/Tolleson, there was a major traffic issue all throughout this area. It took over 1 hour to get from Fairway drive to 75th avenue. Completely unacceptable. At the Van Buren & 99th intersection, I witnessed the following: Wrong way driving by multiple drivers The intersection was blocked by multiple cars, semi trucks, and even vehicle transport trucks. Wreckless driving by multiple people Multiple near collisions Sure enough there ended up being a minor fender bender in the far right lane. No visible damage to the vehicle and the drivers were not visibly injured. Here come the Avondale police...about 4 cars driving through the blocked and backed up intersection and also wrong way driving to get to this fender bender. Nothing was done about the clearly visible traffic issue. Not one driver was stopped, cited, or given a warning for wrong way driving or blocking a major intersection. This was outright unbelievable. Where I'm from, there are cities that will cite you $500+ for blocking intersections. This was unbelievable. They just ignored all these issues that were clearly visible and causing unsafe roads!

Elevator to check-in. Next to Dunkin' Donuts. The agent was right outside the door with his clipboard and took me 12 minutes early. He verified my info and asked for my passport. He asked me two questions and said my fingerprints from my pre-check qualify so I didn't need to take those. Took my picture. It was a 3 minute appt from start to finish. I imagine if you dint have pre-check it will be a bit longer. I parked on level 9 (but I'd park on 5 next time) and pulled a ticket upon entering. I was in my car again in probably 7 minutes, start to finish. My only gripe is the cost for parking. I asked the agent if they validated parking because I was only there 3 minutes. He said no, but if I hurried, it might be free. I had high hopes. I was back to the ticket exit area within 10 minutes but my paper card was rejected! I tried 4 different machines and had to back my car up each time. Super annoying and I still paid $6 for being there a total of 15 minutes when I finally had to find a ticket agent to help me and she declared my ticket was defunct. It took me longer to get help for my ticket than it did for the entire "interview" for global entry. Now I'm curious if anyone else can get in and out in under 10 minutes and still have to pay the $6. I was hoping to have an answer to that question but the ticket ruined me.

The appointments are structured so make sure you're there on time or early. Early would probably be better. The appointments are like 5 mins. Bring your passport. Be prepared to take a photo. Get your fingerprints. That's it. office opens at 7AM. They were nice. It was an easy experience.
