The hotel was okay overall, but there were definitely some pros and cons. The rooms are pretty basic and feel a little outdated. The location is excellent and was probably the best part of the stay. The pool area was nice and a great place to relax. On the downside, the air conditioning didn't work very well, and the breakfast was disappointing with very limited options. Parking cost an additional $10, and there was also a $100 deposit required at check-in. One of the biggest issues was being woken up at 7:05 a.m. by an employee vacuuming nearby, which wasn't ideal when trying to sleep in. We've stayed at this hotel a couple times now. I like that the whole thing is balconies. The weather was bad so we weren't able to check out the pool. The thing that we like most about this hotel is the location. We do like to go to the Hollywood farmers market on Sunday mornings when we stay in LA. This hotel has a little fridge, and it's probably 15-20 minutes from the market. Five minutes away is a street with ALOT of restaurants. The hotel is clean, it is kitschy for sure. It's not the Marriott, however, location, and the fact that it is reasonably priced and there is no charge for Wi-Fi or parking is a humongous plus. We booked this place online. The check in was easy and there was a lot of parking. They only offer pop tarts and coffee for breakfast. The hotel is older but in a good location. The room itself was pretty big and had a refrigerator. The carpet was very comfortable. The shower had really good water pressure. It was located in a good area. It has really cute pictures on Airbnb. That's why we booked the room. It's a vibe in the lobby and even through the initial hallway on the lobby level. But other than that, it's very low effort to make the place cute. :( we just had high hopes of a cute spot to stay, ya know? That being said, we were only there to sleep one night/shower get ready the next morning. So it's not like we absolutely needed a whole lot . But the basic room had everything. A decent bed. A tv. We came back from our event, the bathtub was filled with sewer water. The whole room smelled like a sewer. We talked to the front desk and they told us there were no more rooms so we had to stay in the room we had. So, after a day of walking around LA, we were unable to bathe at all and were forced to sleep in a room that smelled like feces. The night of the incident, Joshua was very understanding and told us the management would handle it in the morning. So, in the morning, I asked to talk to management. When I was greeted by the manager in the morning, first, she was rude and not understanding at all. She had called me that day and asked for permission for the plumbers to enter the room. I gave permission. So this tells me that there was a KNOWN issue with the room we were staying in, but after the plumbers left there was no plan in place for us to move rooms. They must have seen the poop water in the room. When I talked to the manager, she said that since she had left me a message (a message I never received) that it was not her or the hotels fault. There is nothing she can or should do for us. She then said that she had messaged the night manager to give us another room, but the night manager did not see the message so its not her fault. She constantly blames others on staff without making any attempt to rectify what the HOTEL did to our room. I want my money back for the night of misery that the hotel put us through. The hotel DAMAGED our room during our stay and made our stay UNSAFE because of the biological material in the bathroom. Not only is this a breach of contract, but also a health code violation. I am floored that this manager I talked to this morning blamed ME for the situation and refused to compensate us in any way. This is a problem and I want to know how you will fix it. read more

We enjoyed our one week stay here for two main reasons: the pool and the efficient service. When we called to get our room cleaned and linens changed they were able to get it done within 2 hours every time. If I needed to purchase an item from the lobby or ask a question there was always someone there ready to assist 24/7. The 2nd floor where we stayed had a laundry unit so we were able to wash and dry for under $5/ load. The pool is open until 10 pm and there is a small jacuzzi as well. This hotel is pet friendly and non smoking, but of course we are in Glendale so there was always someone smoking or vaping outside the balcony or outside the hotel lobby, but it didn't bother us. Our room had a double bed, had a mini fridge, and a kettle. Which was helpful because all they offer in the morning is coffee, fruit bars, and fruit cups in syrup. For the price and convenience of location I say this stay was definitely worth it. read more

My husband made the reservation and I must admit I was worried after reading the reviews but we had a good stay. The room was very clean and we never felt unsafe. Of course it's not a luxury hotel but it had everything we needed and was clean. We didn't hear anything at night it was quiet and had a good sleep. The shower had a lot of pressure. We went to the lobby for coffee. We didn't see any breakfast but coffee was available and wasn't terrible. The lobby is very nice and I really liked the vending machine that had things like general medications and essentials it was pretty cool. As for the review about no cleaning service there is a sign in the room saying that it is done after 5 days stay but if you need anything you can ask for it. The bathroom light was so hot and old, I'm sure it's a huge energy suck. While I was there, I worked in the room, popped out a few times to eat, and slept. The one bright spot here was the jacuzzi in the common areas, which I used once. Two days after checking out, I got a charge for $75 on my credit card. Decided last minute to go on a trip to LA! We planned to go to Universal Studios so we wanted something not too far but still affordable and this place is it! For ref, we stayed Wed-Sat. We showed up and was able to park right on the front temporarily to check in. We were a little unlucky because it looks like there were some construction guys staying there so if course there was a bit of a wait since a bunch of them were checking in. Once it was our turn, we were quickly checked in and the guy who checked us in was quick and gave us information on the hotel. The decor of the hotel was very... interesting. It gave this vibe of "chill"/"poolside" kind of feel. A few random things in the lobby like a giant camel but at least it was interesting to look at lol We parked and brought our stuff up before exploring the hotel. First impression of the room was that it wasn't anything special. It had a small fridge and microwave but we didn't use either much. The thing that kind bothered me the most was the balcony. It didn't have a screen door and didn't have a separate sheet curtain. So if we wanted to open the balcony door, bugs would come inside. The TV was also pretty weird. It was stuck in a different input and the remote would let us change the input. So we actually had to feel around the edge of the TV to find the TV controls. Eventually we found it and was able to change the input to watch cable. Only thing was that every time we turned the TV on, we needed to change the input on the TV itself. There's no Continental Breakfast here. They said that they have pop tarts and coffee in the mornings so I decided to wake up early to get some. I went downstairs at 7am and literally the pop tarts were already gone! And I went all 3 mornings at 7am and literally no pop tarts. Coffee wasn't great either but I was working remotely and needed some caffeine. It was a little disappointing, but you get what you pay for I guess. The parking is kinda small in the front but there's also parking in the back. Unfortunately there was aom construction going on for some rooms so there were a few large dumpsters parked in the parking spots. The outdoor pool is also located in the back so there was some debris outside the walls of the pool. We didn't use the pool since we were pretty much out all day, every day we were there. Overall our stay was okay. You really get what you pay for here so I think if you want somewhere nice and affordable to stay, here's your spot! read more

A massive hotel building with over a thousand rooms and only about a hundred of them are available to be rented out. Liminal hallways for days that are not at all haunted. The smells here are abundant; cigarette smoke, musty mold, sewage, and general decay. Towels and sheets are well-bleached. There is an intriguing black crud in the bathroom ceiling maybe dust, maybe mold, probably both. Rooms and hallways are in various states of remodel, peeling wallpaper, mismatched/missing carpet, unpatched holes often causing the question, "is that a hole in the wall or a bug?". So much to take in. Located in a quiet and safe neighborgood. Lobby is retro cute, so is the in-room fridge. Evening front desk staffer had kind eyes. Last week we took a trip to Universal Studios in Hollywood and we booked this hotel for 2 nights. The price is quite reasonable and close to where we wanted to go. This is a big apartment complex, we're on the third floor, there are plenty of parking spaces to park every night. This is an old complex but well kept, clean inside and outside. The front desk people are quite pleasant and helpful. Although it's old, and would have gotten a 5 stars if the shower was good, but it wasn't, the water pressure is very weak, the hot and cold water don't mix well, on and off. The shower head is so small with poor water coming out. I like a nice shower after a long day outside, but this didn't do it for me. The room is efficiently big for 4 people, the AC works extremely well especially on hot days, the fridge is cold. Over all the place is nice, close to Starbucks and Jack in the Box. I walked to get coffee every morning, although there is coffee in the room and on the front desk area. The Ice machine on the 3rd floor doesn't work so we had to walk down to the 2nd floor. The beds are quite comfortable. One thing I didn't like was parking fee $10/night. This is totally unreasonable, may be I didn't read the fine prints when I booked this place or may be how all the hotel in Glendale do that. The Wifi is good even on the third floor. Will we come back here again, we don't think so, because we do like a nice shower every night and morning and this place doesn't provide that. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. When I arrived at the hotel at first glance the room was ok. I was excited to see that it had a balcony, until I slid the curtain over and saw what my view was, and then I began to think about in case of an emergency I'd be trapped since the balcony was obstructed and I wouldn't be able to get down. Mind you I was on the 2nd floor. As I was getting ready to get into the tub to take a bath, I noticed hair in and around the bathtub. As I took a closer look, there was hair on the bathroom floor, as well as around the toilet. This was completely disgusting, and of course I didn't bother to bathe any longer. I did reach out immediately to the front desk and all they told me was that they would make a note of it. They did not offer to come and look at their room, clean it or put me in a different room. The inside has drastically changed from a rundown hotel to a more modern place to stay I just didn't like that a few things rather, there's no curfew for the swimming pool, the walls were too thin to hear the next rooms conversations, there was no cancellation without refund, that they only had pop tarts for breakfast, that there were a few minor stains in our rooms, and that the Wi-Fi and Internet were very spotty to even do the streaming of the TV. The front desk and lobby is really neat and decorated with history and style. The service is FANTASTIC. The rooms are clean, well lit, fresh smelling, comfy beds and the pool and spa are clean and refreshing. The hotel is directly next to the freeway, but you cannot hear it at all. Visiting this place in person truly transported me back to the 70s. The lobby was charmingly decorated with a laid-back 70s vibe. The front desk attendant, who had purple hair, was fantastic--friendly and informative without requiring me to ask numerous questions. I appreciated the smooth check-in process. However, I was disappointed that the bar wasn't operational. The hallways exuded a cool retro feel, complete with vintage-style doors. The room was impeccably clean, though it had an unpleasant odor reminiscent of old sweat. The air conditioner was impressively quiet and efficient. The TV was a highlight, featuring apps and allowing us to stream from our phones. The beds were on the smaller side and not particularly comfortable, and the pillows could have been better. We enjoyed the pool and loved the hot tub. It was peaceful at night, and conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from a gas station, 5 minutes from dining options and Starbucks, and 10 minutes from Universal. Let start by saying I WANTED to love this hotel. Starting with the good, I love the retro look of the place. Free parking is a huge plus. And parking was abundant. The room was very clean and spacious. Nice to have a balcony. Had a lovely view from my room with plenty of light. The pool and hot tub was very nice. It was only a 15 minute drive to universal studios with no traffic. And the pop tarts and coffee were a very cute idea for the continental breakfast. If your looking for nearby food I highly recommend Acapulco's across the freeway. It's a 5 minute walk and the food and service was outstanding. Ok on the the not so good. First off they don't have cable tv or Satellite. Was super shocked about that. All they have is cromecast in the room. And it didn't work. It would project to the tv but would pause or stop every 5 mins. Maintenance came up to try to fix it, but it didn't do any good. Spent all 3 days there having to watch tv on my phone. Also since there are balconies in the hotel, that seems to invite the smokers. Now there are signs all over the hotel saying no smoking on the property. But my entire floor reeked of cigarette smoke most of my stay. And I opened my patio door to air it out and someone was smoking out there so it just sucked more smoke into the room. Ugh. Not sure if they actually do anything to stop it, but in the least I hope they charge those selfish people. Side note to management. Please work with the young kids you have working the front desk, and teach them about customer service. Super unprofessional. I understand they are young, but that's when it's the best time to teach them how to work with the public in a customer facing position. From what I gathered, her room hadn't been cleaned and she was asking for different blankets and sheets but was told that there is nothing they could do as the cleaning people would not be in until tomorrow. To his credit, he did call her back in a good customer service voice to inform her that he had an extra blanket but no sheets or pillows... wow! I'll provide pictures of the outdated room, the horrible decor and flimsy furniture. There was no TV at all... literally missing... only wires laying where it used to be... check out the pictures. Please Judge the view for yourself... The bathroom had used toilet paperwork in the toilet and a half used roll of toilet paper... no towels so we could shower - I mean really? I would never recommend a place like this to anyone and truly advise staying far away from this place. Had to stay here more than a handful of times for work trips and I have to tell you, this place is abysmal. Their website and lobby would have you believe that this is a chic and trendy place to stay, that your gut instinct to stay away from here was wrong, but I promise you that is where any remnant of quality ends. Their entire marketing presence is geared toward "60s retro vibes" but its only because they were smart enough to try and spin the narrative. It's not 60's retros vibes you've got going on here, it's an old run down Days Inn motel that even a facelift/rebrand can't save. Great location for our first trip to LA. It was easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit. Also plenty of parking. The hotel itself, as well as the room we stayed in, is a bit outdated, but was very clean all around. The room only had a kettle and a fridge, but no microwave (though there was one in the lobby to use). The TV had the option to use streaming services, in addition to regular cable. King, Queens, one bed or two, it's never a bad pick. The property has a retro, hipster, 60's/70's vibe that I love. The lobby has a lot to look at, as well as munchies to purchase if needed. It's a spacious hotel so there are a bunch of parking lot access doors that make life easier. Speaking of making life easier, it's the pets allowed perk that always has me coming back. This hotel has a cute retro-style lobby and free parking. Our room was a good size and we had a balcony that overlooked the pool & parking lot. Unfortunately for hubs, smoking was prohibited including on our balcony. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We were also able to get late check out an hour later which was appreciated. This property is sadly dated. Our room had curling wallpaper seams, peeling paint on the ceiling, & mold in the bathtub. The shower's water pressure was nonexistent and I was glad to not need to wash my hair during our stay. The bathroom did offer plenty of places to hang damp towels, but possibly only because we were issued so few. After seeing the water pressure, though, we didn't need any more towels. But let's move on to the albatross.... when I booked this room, I understood that watching television was only available via casting from my personal device. We had two phones & a laptop with us so we weren't concerned initially. But our frustration was with the unreliable Wi-Fi that cut out every 15 minutes or so, even at night. We had to re-pair & re-start casting multiple times an hour throughout our 2-night midweek stay. We even tried using both an android & iPhone, with the same connection issues. For this reason alone (I have tinnitus & need background noise to sleep), I probably wouldn't stay here again. I hate to be negative, and this hotel did have some great positives... I'll reiterate that the beds were really comfortable. And our room was very clean (yes, I checked). Plus this Glendale location was fantastically close (8min) to the LA Zoo for the Hollywood Bowl park & ride (which was why I chose this hotel, along with price). My dad and I recently lost our home. We stayed at so many different places while waiting for funds to come in. Our final stay was at the Glendale Express Hotel. The retro vibe is very cool. They play oldies in the lobby and have interesting photos and artifacts from the 1970s (my favorite era). My dad is 78 years old. The supervisor, Prisa, and the agents (Vedi, Shamir and Gianella) were so wonderful!!! They accommodated us and provided everything we needed and more during our stay. I stayed at Glendale Express Hotel with a last minute booking through Hotel Tonight. The check-in process was very smooth. All I had to do was provide my drivers license and they were able to look up my reservation. My wife and I got a room on the second floor. The elevator here is very, very slow, so unless you're carrying a ton of luggage, I recommend taking the stairs -- it's much faster. The room itself gets the job done. The shower has good pressure, the water is warm, there are black-out curtains to block the lights from the parking lot, and there's a mini-fridge where you can store leftovers. The room is a bit dark in terms of lighting and everything needs to be updated, but the room is quiet and the bed is firm enough for a good night's rest. The facilities itself has free self-parking, a hot-tub (not the warmest hot-tub out there, but satisfactory), and free Wi-Fi. For this price-point, I'm very satisfied with my stay. read more

Out dated and not very comfortable place to stay not enough pillows. There was no iron and toilet barely flushed

Glendale Express Hotel Los Angeles What I enjoyed the most was the check in process. Staff was very courteous and professional. Staff was also engaging with minor chit chat. Room was very nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. TV was sort of a hassle as you have to log into the hotels WiFi in order to watch even when turning back on. Room was very spacious with simple decor. Restroom was clean and stocked with essential amenities we did have an issue with some ants around the tub/shower area but was quickly remedied after speaking with front desk. Overall very nice hotel, some cosmetic damage is visible. Access to freeway is perfecta and surrounding area is quiet. The lobby area of the hotel itself is very pleasing. I kinda felt like had gone back in time with its decor. With its location freeway access is easily accessible although it should be noted that if you exit through pioneer drive use caution when merging into traffic as it is a blind entry since it has a small curve and can be a bit difficult to see oncoming traffic I recommend exiting through the backside of the hotels parking lot. The area itself has allot of amenities as far as gas stations and eateries go and the overall atmosphere is pleasing and safe for all. I would recommend the Glendale Express Hotel if you should find yourself visiting the Glendale area and if you do stay here I hope you have a pleasant experience. read more
