Glendale Metrolink stop isn't a very well known one, as LA Union's stations, I found about it years later after I started to use Metrolink and Amtrak. The train passed through it, sometimes stopped here and the beautiful architecture in Mission Revival-style got my attention. Some trains don't stop here, so check their schedules. It is a great option if you live in the Valley. They have a free, big parking lot, machines work ok, restrooms are clean enough, they could have more people working here, but that's something I could say about most of them. Nice seating area, outdoor stop, very pretty, typical old LA amazing buildings. Some scenes for movies were shot here, which isn't surprising. Great option for catching the train! read more

Glendale station, 400 W Cerritos Ave, a few things I take the Metrolink and Amtrak here. One thing I note is that some Amtrak trains like Coast starlight which goes all the way to Seattle (Doesn't stop here it'll just pass through). However as this is the closest station I aim to either go here or to Los Angeles. Usually I get a ride or uber or take access services home. However I tried to catch the bus from here and I think they're all Glendale beeline operated now. This has its ups and downs, like one it's cleaner and more frequent, and the other is getting here past 8pm or late night and there's no service, same for any time on holidays or late night weekends. If you need to take the bus home later than 6pm, I suggest you go through Burbank as metro always operates. The ambience is clean sometimes it may be a little loud especially w the trains coming but it's safer than having to be at Los Angeles at midnight. If I could change one thing about this station I'd say have buses run laters like the Metrolink and Amtrak trains do. Even have a line run a holiday schedule so those who need the bus don't gotta walk a few blocks to catch the metro (if it even runs where you need to go). My opinion is it is cleaner but transit equity is limited here it's needs more access to public transit. read more

Just a brief review of this station... Since I do not use the Metrolink/Amtrak service, I didn't even know there was a lovely train station here in Glendale lol, the only one I know which I pass by everyday going to work is the Union Station. When my pops spent some time with our friends in Napa Valley, he took the train home which after a cool train ride from Sacramento to Bakersfield, he was motor coached from Bakersfield to this Station, super convenient IMO, there are plenty of parking and I could see how convenient this station would be for future train trips going to SLO or SD. I love the architecture as well, whether it was a facade or the remnants of a historic past, I am glad they kept some sense of nostalgia at this station, very nice and convenient in my honest opinion. read more

So, I've been coming here 3+ years. There are new security guards; all but 1 are okay. The oldest, Hispanic guard is horrific! He told me: 1. I allow you to sit here. 2. He watched me go into the ladie's room then walked in on me. [I called the cops, they did nothing]. 3. Today he came into the lobby and placed his umbrella near my things. His I umbrella dripping water near my items. I asked him not to put his wet items near mine & he told me, go outside if you dont like it. I called the cops again. It's raining hard and with the doors open it starts to rain inside, soaking the floors; increasing the chance for bus & train patrons to slip & fall. I've always had to stop at this station each time to go to Union Station in L.A. This summer, I went to Houston before getting back to L.A. and the station never fails to impress me. The parking is free, so I've always been able to find parking and/or can get dropped off easily. There's a great waiting room before boarding with plenty of seating inside and outside. The place is clean and kept really well and I have no complaints about the staff. I've always had positive interactions with everyone there. If you're taking a train down in SoCal, this is definitely a station you should visit, whether it be the start of a trip, the end of a trip or somewhere in between, Glendale Metro Station never fails to disappoint. read more

Yes Glendale does have a train station on Cerritos and it does go to the Union Station. From there you get to choose which line you want to take: red. Purple, etc. *Free parking for 72 hours *Secure if you are travelling with bags and a laptop *Roundtrip used to cost $6 but I have heard it's $8 now *You can take your bike inside the train if you'd like *Restrooms available at the station *Metrolink and Amtrak pass from here If you get stuck or miss a train don't worry you can check the Metrolink schedule online to see when the next one arrives. As others have mentioned, yes this station can be a little confusing for the first timer. Not a lot of signs. The Amtrak and the Metrolink both come through here. So having just gone though the ordeal here are a few tips. If you're heading south to San Diego on the Pacific Surfliner you'll be on track 2, and as you're facing the track the train pulls up from your right and the Business class car will be on the tail end as the train is pulling up. The entrance to that business class car will stop right about in between the 2 train depot buildings. The cream adobe style buildings behind you. Lastly, the train flips around at Union Station, which is the next stop south. So if you get sick going backwards prepare yourself to change seats. Hope that helps! Happy travels. It's creepy at night here & security just sits in office. Would make for a beautiful wedding location at least that was the imaginary game I was playing in my head.. even down to where cocktail hour would be and where the ceremony would take place....in my head it looked amazing, all the while I'm waiting for my family to arrive from San Diego on the Amtrak. Let's start with the two stars I did give them: free parking. That is the one and only positive is this place. You can park for free for 72 hours and there are always parking spaces which is nice. Now let's talk about the ugly: security. What security you might ask yourself? I've never seen more than one security officer here in all the time I have come here. If you want to feel unsafe, be harassed and question why you ride the metro this is the place for you. I barely want to be here in the daylight, you couldn't pay me enough to be here in the dark. There are no people here - so don't have any questions. Also there are 2 sides, one building or facade of the Amtrack station the other is the Metrolink side with 72 hour parking and automated ticket machine. In other words if you are picking up guests on Amtrack they will be by the building; if you are picking guests on Metrolink they will be in the big parking lot where the busses are. I take metrolink to union station and have never had a issue leaving my car, getting on the train or purchasing tickets. There is nothing to look at here, it is purely function over form. read more

Although the station is nicely situated and has parking it has real issues. First it is unmanned, so if you have question or problems you are SOL. Second there are no signs to tell you where to wait for your train. There is one area on the right hand side that looks like a waiting area... It is for metrolink. Further to the left there is a little waiting room ... But if you wait in there for anything you will miss it for sure. There are absolutely no announcements, and the trains hesitate for about 3 minutes and then leave. The left area is for Amtrak, but if you are trying to catch the coastliner... When it comes you will be on the wrong side of the train if you are sitting on the benches provided, and will be unable to get around the train in time to board. Third, if you bought your ticket online the two machines Will Not recognize your credit card... Leaving you struggling to enter your reservation number with an extremely archiac system (arrows to move to the character you want then F4 to select) with absolutely no instructions. Last time I was there I tried to print out my daughters ticket... But it took about 20 minutes. Meanwhile Amtrak came, hesitated, and left... Leaving me with a useless ticket and a very upset kid. So far my luck here is about 50%. If you come here and have done it before, and arrive early you have about an 80% chance if catching your train. If it is your first time you are most likely going to miss it because there are no instructions and you will not be waiting in the right area, to get onto the train you want. With no signs, and no staff you can only figure it out by seeing the train you want come and leave before you can get to it.... Meaning you get to go to that area after it leaves and wait a couple of hours for the next one. This could be a really nice station if it was manned or even had signage to help out. Funny thing some taggers actually tried to help by posting directions on the back side of another building in spray paint indicating North and South with arrows so you could figure out what direction your train would be coming from. First time I ever saw a business that relied on helpful hints from your friendly neighborhood taggers. Doesn't the CA tax payer pretty much subsidize This industry? I suggest they use the funding to post a sign or two. read more

Nice historical looking train station. I purchased my ticket online to go down to Oceanside-- as a first timer on the Amtrak, I wish that the actual train station had some of ticket booth open (they have a ticket booth but it was closed on a Saturday morning) there were no signs with directions on how board or where to wait so I had to ask around and most of the people seemed too confused to answer so I don't know why I even bothered asking, but I finally found someone who seemed to work there that told me where I needed to wait. The Surfliner train came on time --you have to walk across the tracks to get to where it comes in, the Surfliner is pretty busy on the weekend with its final destination in San Diego. I was able to find a seat by myself, and they are pretty strict with their policy on keeping the seating areas for groups of 3 - 4 really for groups of 3 - 4 people. On my ride some people teamed up together and pretended they were a group of 3 but the Amtrak staff knew and at one point I thought they were going to get in some type of altercation with the train staff. If only some people could just follow the rules, luckily there was no altercation. The train was scheduled to be in Oceanside by 11:47 am but I didn't get there until 12:10ish. Quite a few stops, the first stop in Los Angeles station was about 1/2 hour long for some reason and all the other stops in Orange County were very brief. Overall, I think it's worth it to take it down south especially on the weekend if you want to avoid all the traffic and the stress of driving down there. Also, a great thing I noticed when I was dropped off was they did have 72 hour parking spots at this station, not sure if it's free though but I wouldn't mind trying it next time around. read more

This quaint little station is the perfect place to hop on the Amtrak Surfliner down south to San Diego or up north to Santa Barbara. It's quiet and unmanned, with Quik-Trak Ticket machines where you can print up tickets already bought online. Parking is plentiful and seems like a safe place to leave your car. Way less of a zoo than Union Station downtown and that's just the next stop over. (However, Union Station has officers that cruise around in Segways and you can laugh at them while you wait.) There's been a posse of older gentlemen that hang out on the bench and watch the trains. There was one that heckled a conductor, but I'm guessing that they're homies and he's a retired train guy himself. Cute. read more

The vending machine for the snacks hardly works properly and will take your change sometimes along with not dispensing change if you put anything bigger than a $1 in. Watch out for transients who like to hang out here and linger all day. read more

Travelled all over the world and this is the first train station I've seen that doesn't have a sign board for train departures and platforms - an easy item to produce for customer wellbeing. Plus there's no visible staff at the station so people are scrambling around at the last minute. Could be much better if some for thought and care went into this. read more

I would put zero stars if I could but this is the most horrible experience ever! So I dropped off my friend for her train, way ahead of schedule but several minutes later I get a call from her telling me that the train came and went without her??? I asked how so and she went on to tell me that at the Glendale station there is only boarding side on the dual platform, which is odd because the noho station didn't have that case. Well I took her out for a meal to kill time until the next train would arrive and we waited at the station for the longest time till her train WAS SUPPOSED to arrive. It never came and the minutes started to tick away till nearly two hours had passed when the train finally came and was off to SB. The staff at this place, I don't know it might be just today but they were pretty incompentent. I was on the look outside while she went inside to ask an employee about the train situation and the guy's answer was "there are no more trains coming in tonight" ... As she came out I spotted from a distance headlights and the train chugging our way.. "Hmm, so he said there weren't any trains coming in tonight just a minute ago?" read more

This is a great, local Amtrak or Metrolink station. It's never crowded, and there's lots of parking. I always buy my tickets online so I don't need to worry about it at the station because I'm not sure if there's always Security there to help. You should always make sure you're on the right side of the track (just a simple cross over if you aren't). There's a nice indoor waiting area and lots of outdoor benches. Much more convenient than going to Union Station! read more

This station has good connections for the trains with two different northbound lines plus Amtrak. What i do not appreciate is how infrequent the bus service out of here is after 9 am. And its not walking distance from anything either. So, you will have a hard time getting there by public transport during the day but after morning commute hours. read more

A quite train station that has that old world feel of the west. Wooden beams colorfully painted hold the structure together. You feel as you are in the Alamo. Photographs and model trains exemplify the history of the Glendale station. There's hardly ever anyone working here so be sure to take care of business online. The Glendale Station is peaceful, scenic, and beautiful with a historic appearance. There is ample shade by the tracks (depends on the time of day), so you won't be left waiting in the heat. The automated system that announces what train is arriving and on what track is very organized and gives you plenty of notice for each train so you don't miss your train. The station is pretty clean, though by the end of the day there may be some trash under the benches. My only complaint is that this station seems to be minimally manned, if manned at all, so if there is any confusion or problem with your ticket(s) you're on your own. Thankfully, I haven't come into any problems with tickets or finding the right train, so the help of an employee was not needed. This is a great station to catch a train on. read more

Just had the rudest, most unprofessional interaction from the Pacific Surfliner staff. We were 25 minutes early for our 9:24pm train to San Diego from the Glendale station. We waited patiently- as this was our first trip- and noticed that not only were there no signs or arrival directions but also that staff were locked in the "security office" watching tv on their phone. No announcements occurred about the trains approaching or next scheduled departure. At 9:22 pm the train arrived and only 2 doors opened, neither near us, so we had to ask the staff member who walked out which train this was and she just replied "hurry up, we're boarding, we'll leave". I had to sprint (yes- sprint, thank goodness I am fit enough to) with my bags before the door closed. I began looking up the Amtrak feedback form as we pulled out of the station at 9:23 pm... a full minute before boarding was supposed to be. We literally immediately took off before we were even seated with zero time to get our tickets out and were met with an attitude from the train staff. No wonder people don't want to take the darn train- half the employees are rude, provide zero assistance, and your stations are completely void of guidance or signage, on top of being so dark that I wouldn't have stayed there on my own. I stared at that crawling digital sign for 20 minutes and not once did it announce any trains that approached- just some random train info going to Lancaster- nor did it state which side to board on. Amtrak needs to get it together considering the price I just paid for 3 tickets from San Diego to Glendale and back. Not worth the price if we have to deal with this stress and all I can think of is that if my mother had been the one trying to board (as we have recently discussed, and this was a test run for her to hear about), she would not only have never been able to sprint across like we did and would have been left alone in a parking lot at night. read more
