I came in about two weeks ago. I needed for my car to be smogged so that I could get my tabs for the year. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I think that is one of the fastest tests I've completed. The folks here are friendly and there is a small office waiting space where you can sit while waiting for your smog check to be completed. The smog test transmission is completed and you're on your way. Seriously, the time it took to have my test done was NOTHING! my smog check went very smoothly from start to finish. i called to make an appointment for 5:30 because they close at 6, but it turned out that i had to stay a little late at work. when i called to let arthur know i was running late, he said it was no problem and that he would stay open late just for me. during the actual smog check, he kept me informed every step of the way and was friendly and personable, answering all of my questions. he even noticed that my battery terminal was a little loose and that i should probably get it replaced soon. also, i'm pretty sure he put air in my tires (which always seem to be underinflated) even though he didn't tell me he did. overall, i was impressed with the level of service. it seems like arthur truly cares about his customers and their cars. i also noticed several thank you letters displayed along the counter. i found a coupon online for $15 off, but i see that he is offering yelpers the same deal. the coupon makes the price very reasonable. read more

I recently had to get my 2000 Volkswagen smogged, which I have done before without problem. Not this time. After waiting 5 minutes for a mechanic to acknowledge my existence, he told me to wait for the owner to talk to me. Finally, another 5 minutes goes by and the owner comes out. We discuss the transaction at hand and just before I pay, he realizes I have a Volkswagen and asks if I have an aftermarket stereo. I say yes, like almost anyone would, and he says he can't do it. Apparently every so often, Volkswagens with aftermarket stereos cause problems with smog machines and this particular Mobil had their equipment damaged to the tune of $600 repairs due to this before. I ask him if there is anything I can do. He says 'disconnect your stereo'. I don't know how and ask if they can do it, he says no, I have to go to a specialty audio shop. For a smog check, I have to get my stereo disconnected, then go get it re-connected? Right. After 30 wasted minutes, I decided to go elsewhere. I took my car to Dyrness Automotive and was smogged with no problem in the same amount of time. Thanks for nothing, Mobil. read more

As much as I wish I understood how cars work, I simply don't. I am an easy target for mechanics to overcharge, and I'm suspicious of all of them. I came to this Mobil for the first time probably six years ago. They needed to look at my car to see what the problem was (I don't remember the specifics) and gave me a price range of what it would cost to fix it depending on the problem. I was positive they'd charge me the higher price no matter the problem. But they surprised me by charging me an even lower price than the bottom price they quoted. When I checked prices for the same work at other car repair shops, all were higher. My car has run perfectly all these years. Now I no longer live near this Mobil, but I drive over here because I trust no one else with my car. I've referred friends who've been impressed by their honesty as well. Seriously, I am giving a mechanic a 5 STAR rating. And I mean it. His name is Arthur. He works at Glendale Mobil Station. Not only is he super hot but he is super awesome. This is what's up. I have had 2 Jeep Wranglers. Both of these Jeeps had issues with something I have come to find is way too fucking common with these vehicles. Something "affectionately" termed the "Death Wobble" in the Jeep community. In short, the death wobble is a seizure-like violent shaking that would occur in my vehicle when I was on the freeway going about 50MPH (Generally leaving me shaken and my seat wet where I had pissed my pants from fear). My 1999 Jeep had the problem for about 6 months, and I tried having it repaired by my dealership 3 times before finally just trading it in and getting a 2005 model. Conveniently, right around when I had finally paid off the 2005 Wrangler it began the wobble-o-death on me. I took it to Star on Brand (Specializing in Jeep/Chrysler) and they replace the steering damper. This is exactly what had been done to my first Jeep so I didn't really believe that it would fix the issue but I crossed my fingers... Nope. FAIL. My seat remained wet. I took it to another mechanic who balanced the tires and said that should fix it. WRONG AGAIN! No dice. Finally I took it to Arthur (swoon). He was so caring and wonderful. He really asked me a lot about the car and my previous car. He kept my car for a couple days test-driving it and researching the issue on the web. He tried rotating the tires and then continued test-driving it and found that the problem was not fixed. Eventually he came up with a solution. He was careful to tell me that he was hoping this would fix the issue but he was not sure (he never tried to play like he knew everything but he was obviously reading up and trying to solve the problem). He aligned the car and replaced about 5 of the steering components explaining that Jeeps have a problem with these components wearing out, which results in too much "free play" in the steering system, causing the car to shake when it hits rougher road conditions (not ideal for an off-road vehicle). After he fixed all of those issues, I got an entirely new set of tires (due to his recommendations) and I am happy to say that I have not experienced one seat wetting incident since! No more death wobble! AAAAAAAAAAAND to top it all off, he actually called me to check up on the car and see how everything was going. Now I ask you, WHAT OTHER MECHANIC IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD HAS EVER HAD THAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE? I rest my case. Been buying gas here when in the area, because of good prices and also because of the beautiful and charming cashier (Zovinar). Met the mechanic, Arthur, a couple of weks ago, when he quickly helped me with a minor issue at no charge. Brought the old Cherokee back in Monday 7/15 for a "laundry list" of delayed maintenance. Picked up this AM. It now drives with more power, working AC, and NO SQUEAKS OR RATTLES. Particularly noteworthy: -- He stuck to the original estimated prices, even though one repair took a LOT more hours than expected due to location of the problem. -- He called me in the evening promptly around 6pm to update me on progress. -- He noticed oil leaks and coolant leaks that I hadn't mentioned. -- He fixed rattle in dashboard without charging -- He adjusted brakes (I suspect) even though we elected not to change pads yet. Brake squeal gone! No charge! -- He had me test drive the car before I paid! -- He showed me the old parts!
