For years, I've rolled through LA Express Car Wash in Silverlake to get my car good 'n' clean and most recently, Bellagio in Eagle Rock got integrated into my rotation. Last week, however, I decided to put in some elbow grease and try this self-serve car wash. Perhaps it was the 90+ degree heat melting my brain cells, a twang of nostalgia tied to helping my dad wash down his cars every summer, or the fact that I knew I'd have to roll through LA Express or Bellagio at least 10x to get it clean. It's $1/minute and the timer feels like I'm on a game show trying to beat the clock. To outsiders, I probably looked like Eric Andre or Mr. Bean in my comedic race to beat the clock that I accidentally over-timed. NOTE: The dial is sensitive. The attendant told me it only charges when the nozzle gets started. (Umm, maybe? Or maybe I got charged an extra 50¢ for dilly-dallying.) EQUIPMENT: The water pressure, various brushes, and color-coded dials with instructions are in good working shape. I loved the tire brush with lots of soap and was excited to finally see chrome under all that grime. Overall the docks are clean, people come and go. The vacuum station is efficient but you have to pay more for using them. MONEY: I paid $14 to hand wash and scrub my filthy car, but that didn't include vacuuming. The place was filled with car lovers, rubbing down their babies and buffing out the dirt with their hands, while speaking sweet nothings into them. If you have an old car and want to personally give it more love, then this is one solution. To my understanding, LA doesn't allow us to let carwash water go into our streets/runoffs/gutters. VERDICT: For the price and the amount of work, I'd probably just pay my monthly subscription at my drive-in, roll-through options and shell out the extra few dollars. But if you're an anal retentive clean-freak who uses Q-tips to detail your car, this is a clean, efficient, and well-run DIY hub that allows you all the control you need/want to get your baby sparkling. read more

Great, fast, and easy car wash. The standard time is for 8 mins and you can add a min at a time after that. Several settings / brushes including a tire brush, broom looking brush for the body, liquid wax something like that, and low or high pressure soap and water. The vacuums are $2 for 6 minutes. Only thing is if you go during a busier time it can feel stressful with another car waiting behind you but otherwise it's pretty smooth! Would recommend ! read more

Pros Soft bristle brush Separate tire cleaner / brush Good air/water pressure and soap/wax consistency even at the outer bays Spotless water , did a good job at leaving car spotless The lather was great on the foam brush Cons Pre soak might just be the same as high pressure soap, other car washes use different color / scent to at least make you think it's different Doesn't matter too much because the pre soak has good pressure so you get good coverage Same with the wax , it was hard to tell if it was coming out , typically you can hear it kick in. Usually the result is that the water should bead up. It's been better from experience with other car washes use. This place and the echo park car wash are the top 2 so far I've tried. Best self service car wash ever! I drove 25 minutes to get here and it was worth it! JOEL who works here kindly and patiently walked me through each of the settings on the dial and assured me that the equipment and soaps and sprays were high quality. They are! I will be coming back despite the 25 minute drive time because the service (from Joel) and the product (my clean car) are worth it. Also, it is a great value. I have to concur with the Yelpers who report they've felt cheated. I swiped my card for a $5.00 car wash but was debited $8.00. For whatever reason this is happening to people, the proprietors are clearly not unaware of it. Even if it's the result of an honest mistake (unclear pricing instructions, for example), to let it continue is not. I have no complaints aout the quality of the car wash itself. John is extremely rude and doesn't know how to talk to people. Very unprofessional. He throws money in peoples faces telling that he doesn't care if you wash your car here or not. I was overcharged here. What I believe it should have been $10 ($8 for the wash and $2 for the vacuum) was $17. I can't dispute the charge because it's all touchless and there's no receipt. Another thing - it took forever - I went on a Sunday afternoon, there were two cars in front of me and it took at least 30 minutes from the time I got there until I was washing my car. The attendant refused to say how long it might take -- I said on average how long does it take from here, he literally would not say. A full service car wash would have taken just as long and been the same price (with them overcharging me). Bad experience. read more

Came to do a quick car wash and this place had the best reviews so we decided to stop by. The stations were all clean and they had additional vacuum stations in the back after the self wash. The price is good as well - $7 for 10 minutes then an additional $1 for each minute. For $10, our car was shiny and squeaky clean in 13 minutes. Love that they take credit card and charge the correct amount as well. Other places aren't clear with their pricing or everything in the station is super worn out. read more

A fantastic self serve car wash. Like many other reviewers before me, I am very appreciative that this came to our part of town, as Glendale had sorely been lacking in any self-serve car wash place, and we all had to go to Alvarado or Burbank (Zeavey's) for the privilege of washing our own cars. This place is newly opened, very neat and clean, with 7 different washing bays, conveniently located off of a small street on Glendale so you can wait a bit to pull in if the bays are full. When we went over the weekend there was an attendant directing us to the bays with the shortest time period left, which was nice. It's an almost perfect self serve car wash, and I even saw what looked like a restroom available (uncertain as to interior condition), but I wish there was one of those roller/squeezers off of the sinks so we could squeeze dry our shammies/dryer towels. This car wash just opened up. Everything is brand new and nice. I usually have to go to Burbank for a self service car wash but this ones closer to home. It has a bill breaker so you don't have to change all your money to coins. It has 7 stalls for washing and 11 stalls for drying and vacuuming, including for disabled card holders. The water/soap gun have a lot of power and the foaming brush is nice and sudsy. Overall I won't be going to Burbank anymore for a nice self service car wash. Bonus! Super solid self serve car wash service in Glendale. I come here usually around once a week and my experience is great every time. Everything is clean and works properly, and I always see staff walking around which is nice just in case you need something. I barley right reviews and I was trying to find a number to call, but could not locate it. I was there on 08/15. I had $10 cash. I got change and I used $7 cash and spent $2 for the vacuum, which left me with $1.... I needed additional time to vacuum and I didn't have more cash. So I used my card. The next morning I looked at my statement and saw $7 was charged. I went to the car wash and the employee told me give it a few days and we will charge you $2. I checked my bank statement today and I was charged an additional $2... none of the charges are pending. So I had to file a dispute because I don't have time to go to the car wash everyday. I love this car wash. I always go. I've always used my card for the wash which is $7 and have never had an issue. Only when I used it to vacuum, I realized I was charged $7 and $2..... I would recommend just taking cash..: sorry for writing this review but I am just frustrated over a wash and this has cause me so much time. I've been washing my new car at home after the rim was damaged at carwash. I always end up with spots even though I have a spot free carwash soap. I figured I try something different. I went to this place last week for the first time despite the bad reviews regarding being overcharged as well as the owners response on how people are overcharged (people pressing the extra time button one too many times). I was having a hard time getting my card to work so I asked an employee, Joe (I think...I have momnesia so sorry if I got it wrong). Anyway, I told him it was my first time going. He was the nicest, most helpful person. He explained every carwash setting. He explained the button that is next to the credit card swipe is only for extra time. I also like that the different settings especially the spot free coating. I found that using that setting helped dry my car easier. I'm sure the shaded area also helps as well.
