I had heard good things about their pumpkin patch last year and wanted to check it out this fall…read more The pumpkin patches I've visited in the past didn't have an entrance fee and $10 felt like a bit much to pay per person (especially for a 2 year old!) But now that we've been I think that the amount and variety of activities justifies the price. It's also nice that everything inside is included in the admission fee. My three kids had a blast exploring all of the grounds with various cute playground structures, swings, and slides. Several gardens, a tug of war station, a zip line, a small petting/feeding area, bunnies to watch, giant jenga and connect four - all generously spaced out with plenty of shaded areas and seating for parents and grandparents to relax. The corn maze is large but not TOO large. We took a photo of the maze map and were able to make our way out in 15 minutes (we took our stroller in without a problem). The tractor ride up to the pumpkin patch was a lot of fun for the kids and the views are very pretty. They did a great job of sanitizing in between rides as well. You can pick your pumpkins from the fields or from the store - both options are $0.50/lb). One thing I wouldn't recommend is their food. While very reasonably priced ($3.50 for hamburgers, $2 for hot dogs, and $2 for fries) the line was excessively long, the food took forever to arrive, and also wasn't very good. (Have you ever had over-fried funnel cake? So sad.) Next time we'll pack our own lunch. *just a note: this year due to COVID19 there are no pig races and no train rides

I had just driven by the farm with their giant "pick your own strawberries" sign, and decided to do this in between wine/beer tastings along Nelson 151. *Pick your own strawberries for $3.49 a pound. Apparently you can bring your own container for picking, but they do provide white buckets. *I picked strawberries from Patch #1 which faces the road, but there's more patches in the back, which I wish I'd checked out, because I suspect a lot of people go to Patch #1. So I'd encourage you to be aware of Patches #2-6. *There are portapotties and an outdoor sink set up with soap and paper towels. *They have a small market with some McCutcheon products, strawberries for sale, asparagus, and ice cream in pints. I had a cup of their delicious strawberry ice cream afterward. There are picnic tables scattered under tents where you can enjoy your ice cream (much appreciated shade after strawberry picking under the hot sun).

It was lacking in a lot of spots. I was ok with it because it forced me to be in the moment. The farm was pretty clean as well. We did 2/4 mazes. They were great! I appreciated the staff that were walking around inside the mazes helping you if needed. They do a wonderful job with the mazes. The staff were so helpful. The pumpkin patch area was cute. There were pumpkins here and there. They had all types. The typical orange, the specialties that were different colors, had bumps etc, and lastly they had the smaller pumpkins/gourds. They were priced reasonable at under a $1 a pound. It may have been maybe $0.90 a lb... but definitely under $1 a lb. The wagon ride was nice. I will always love a wagon ride. When walking through the pumpkin patch there maybe some prickers stuck to you. Be careful walking around the patch. This is a farm. Take in consideration of your outfit and shoes. If it's dry out the dirt is dusty and will leave dust on your shoes and everywhere else. I looked like I had used self tanner on my exposed skin from the wagon ride. Hehe. Nothing a baby wipe can't take care of. There were two food trucks. We opted for the truck that was serving hotdogs. It was the perfect set up. They were delicious! The country store was great. They had fudge, apple cider, lots of goods, and slushies. We enjoyed the sweets and treats. The cold apple cider hit the spot on the warm October Saturday. The playground area was fantastic. It's a little over an hour away from Richmond and holds the title of the largest corn maze in Virginia. They have a different theme each year for the maze, and this year's was "Into the Deep" (ocean-themed). Our group chose the hardest maze (blue) and spent at least two hours in it. We didn't get all of the hole punches, as after we got our 7th of 21, we decided to just focus on finding the exit as it was nearing closing time. We did stumble upon hole punch 21 at the end though! The price for attendance was reasonable, and the whole vibe of the farm was very chill. It's really a perfect fall activity. They have a little market too with fun candies, fudge, and ciders. I had a hot apple cider, which was great to hold in the maze. I also bought some stick candies and candy corn fudge. They also have a little fire pit and porta pots if you need the restroom.

Nothing to bounce on. Pony rides are $10 each which seems a bit much. I like that there were big slides, there was a cute obstacle course and mini maze, and some other random things like tug of war and tetherball. For the age ranges of my kids (2-8), it felt meh compared to some other places I've been more in the Hampton roads area. We don't do the large corn mazes l due too the kids ages, they just get bored, so my suggestion would be to have a separate cost for corn maze. For reference, wood ridge farm brewery has a sand-filled playground, corn maze and a petting zoo for a bit cheaper... they do have a train, hay ride, and bounce house, but it all costs extra. I guess you can't have it all.

Need a pumpkin? Pick one in their patch! If you're looking for an idyllic fall festival, look no further but be warned that your kids won't want to leave! If you're looking for a family‑friendly outing with fresh fruit, friendly faces, and plenty of tasty discoveries, Chiles Peach Orchard is a must‑visit. It had some peach flavor, but honestly, nothing out of the ordinary. I was told the peach donuts were just all right, not as standout as others (apple cider donuts). What did stand out was the peach Bellini, which was really good, especially because it was such a hot day. We wanted to check out the peach orchard, but unfortunately, they had sold out for the day, so we weren't allowed to go. It was probably around two or three in the afternoon, so we were surprised they had shut down so early. We did enjoy the views and live music, which was really cool.
