This is my second time bringing my car in for repairs but I did not provide a review for my first experience with Glenville Terrace Auto Body. Last year, I had my side mirror knocked off and they helped me repair the damage through my auto insurance but they initially installed the wrong mirror onto my vehicle and then replaced it with the correct one a day later. This time around, there were some damages to the front of my vehicle. The accident occurred after Christmas and I was scheduled for a drop-off a couple weeks after my insurance contacted the location that I'd need work done. They called me to schedule the drop-off, which provided seamless customer service. Drop-off was quick and easy as I didn't require a rental. I was quoted 2 weeks for repair time but it was done in little over a week. I went to attempt to pick up my vehicle yesterday and the valet attendant accidentally locked my key in the car and I did not have the spare key on me. The mechanic was attempting to get my car open for a bit and I asked what was happening as a bit of time had passed and was informed of the situation. It was 6°F outside so this may have contributed to their difficulty in unlocking my car. The desk staff offered to compensate for an Uber as I was going to be late for work and compensate my Uber to come pick up my car later that day. I decided to take public transit instead to work and they called me a few minutes once I got on the train that they unlocked my car and would deliver my car to my workplace later within the day instead of having me come pick it up. The owner of the establishment gave me a phone call later that day to apologize for the inconvenience and also stated he'd be dropping my vehicle off for me. I received text notifications upon his arrival and my car had returned to my possession. Glenville Terrace Auto Body never fails to provide exceptional customer service and attention to detail. I appreciate the interior and exterior clean that they provide as well and my car is always looking great after repairs. I will be returning if I need any additional work done to my vehicle as they are the best of the best in the area. read more

I've been corresponding with Glenville Terrace Auto Body for about two months or so, from talking to GEICO insurance, bringing my Toyota Corolla Cross in to determine what parts need to be ordered from Toyota (there was a backlog on part of the Toyota manufacturer), until next week will be the time when all the parts arrive and Glenville Terrace Auto can finally start fixing the multiple damages (scratches and bumps) on my Toyota Corolla Cross. I hope the color comes out to be perfect -- just like the original color coming out of the factory. Hopefully there is no issue here as this color can be considerably unique. This far, though, for the past two or so months, my correspondence with Glenville Terrace Auto Body has been very smooth and professional. They explain to me and follow up thoroughly with what to expect and the timeline to be expected. I still expect perfection for them to fix my car! They were nice enough to even go above and beyond and offered to drop me off at Enterprise because, on Enterprise's fault, Enterprise was lagged in coming to Glenville Terrace Auto Body, to give me the car I reserved way in advanced through GEICO. So yea, kudos for Glenville Terrace Auto Body. Once my car parts arrive--early December 2023-, I expect everything to go smoothly with Glenville Terrace; I hope perfection on the repair of my car, so that I can recommend my other colleague and friends in the areas who don't know about this hidden Auto Body Shop. Hoping for a perfect service and handling everything smoothly with the GEICO insurance on my behalf. Would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone- I'm not even somebody who writes reviews but they've been so great to work with over the past few years, I feel like I have to! As a first time car owner it can be pretty intimidating having your car serviced and every employee I've met has been nothing but lovely and accommodating. I feel very at ease working with them which is worth a lot. I originally found this shop because I lived nearby and they've kept me coming back. Barry is very personable and I am always happy to support an Irish-owned business. They get the job done and exceed expectations (in particular I really appreciate that they clean the inside of your car for you, always a nice surprise). I've had some bad luck getting hit by other people on the road and they've taken care of claims and coordinating with the other party's insurance seamlessly. I've now had two separate bumpers replaced by them, and last year when my car was totaled Barry was kind enough to get on the phone with me and take the time for a consult free of charge. He knew just by looking at a couple pictures that it was probably gonna be a goner. Another time I was in Ireland while they worked on my car and he called with updates, and helped me arrange for my friend to pick the car up for me with no hassle. I also love that they partner with Enterprise so you can be taken to your rental / leave your rental there to be collected when you pick your vehicle up. I highly recommend Glenville terrace auto-body. They have awesome customer service, super friendly and accommodating. My daughter hit a high curb which detached the spoiler from front bumper. I was visiting from out of town, and it was a nasty rainy Saturday. A relatively easy fix but most shops were closed and the 3 other shops I called were "too busy" to help. Maybe just bad skills? So it was in 2013, long time ago. When I picked up the car I found a bubble on paint on the rear quarter panel. They redid the area. But the same area got bubbles and blisters in one year. I wrote an email to them but never got response. Bright side is, after 6 years, when my insurance, MetLife, recommended them for another claim and I complained about this, the MetLife contacted them and they honored the warranty. They charged the insurance only, not me. But they didn't blend the color with bump. Well it was free and it fixed the rust, I didn't think I should complain. Shitty side is, the same area got more bubbles and rusty in 8 months. I have changed insurance by then so I was not sure if I was still covered. Or should I go back for this quality even it's free. I guess I would never find out since later I moved to WA. However they honoring a paint job warranty after 6 years was really amazing. Although the job was always subpar. read more

After an accident (on March 16th) I was set up with Glenville Terrace Auto Body from Progressive insurance. Upon entry I was greeted by the receptionist (unfortunately forgot her name) who was warm, welcoming, and very clear with her instruction. The mechanic I was set up with was Frank who was extremely kind and took me through step-by-step what he will do to assess the vehicle. He took me through the parts of the exterior of a car just so I could understand clearly and he took me through the best and worse case scenarios for repair. Within 24 hours of my visit Frank called me with an assessment of the car and and estimated date. My entire experience was prompt and I was kept informed of every step. After a passive aggressive call from the rental car company, I called anxiously to check on the status of my car. The receptionist/person who answered the call (Saturday the 27th) was so friendly, and protective of me it felt like she was my older sister. She transferred me to Frank, during this time I heard the hold message which was A+. The energy in the voice actresses voice and the emphasis on the family owned aspect made me feel like I was in a comfortable environment. Frank mirrored the receptionists protective tone (fulfilling the family environment set by the hold message) and assured me I would not pay a penny for the rental unless I have my car. When I picked up my car (Tuesday the 30th) I was again greeted with the same receptionist in a warm and welcoming way. We reviewed my rental and she always made sure I was comfortable and I knew what was happening with my car. While Frank finalized my car, with a wash, a tall man approached me with the same family-run business vibe making sure I was comfortable. He stood with me for at least 3 minutes having a very sweet discussion about people's attachment to the cars and the name of my car. While this man had nothing to do with my car exactly, he wanted to make sure I was not being left to wait. This is similar to my experience with all the staff at Glenville Terrace Auto Body, they all feel like they genuinely care about your time, your car, and your comprehension of what they are doing to your car. My car is running very smoothly. It was clear from Frank's passion and ability to comprehensively explain parts of auto body to me, a person who has zero automobile knowledge. He showed care for me and my car in every step of the process. 10/10 would recommend this place. TLDR; all staff genuinely care about your time, your car, and your comprehension of what they are doing to your car. I was traveling from out of town (6 hours away) when I got a flat tire. Still had an hour drive to go. I stopped by here because at 4:30pm when i called, they were more than happy to have me come in. When they looked at my tire, it was determined that it couldn't be patched. They offered to look at their stock of used tires to find a match in order to get me back on the road. They found one, put it on and only charged for labor. They were extremely helpful and understanding of my situation. I definitely recommend Magno!! Rodridgo, Carlton and their team did a marvelous job in getting my fender bender fixed within 3 days. The GEICO hook-up with these guys make it pretty seamless - you just arrange an appointment for a car drop-off, show up. My GEICO auto-adjuster (shoutout to Don Gracie!) took barely 2 minutes to look at the damages, and I was out the door with my rental car. While I was away, Don and Joe from Geico kept me in the loop about the repair status of my car, took plenty of photos of the repairs and also keep me informed about when it would be available for pick-up. The damage estimate is very detailed so I get to see exactly what was repaired. The car looks like it is brand new, and these guys were nice enough to do a wash at the end. When I came for the pick-up, the papers were all ready and all I had to do was sign, hand in my rental car keys and I was out the door - 5 minutes flat! If I ever have another fender-bender (and I really hope I don't have one for another 10 years at least!), I am coming back to you guys! Keep doing great work! read more

I had work done twice by Glenville - April of 2019 and March of 2020. Both times, I encountered significant delays and broken promises as to when the work was going to be completed. The delays were 3 days the first time and a week and a half for the second time. This month, I dropped it off on Monday, March 2nd and was promised Friday, March 6th. That pushed into Tuesday, March 10th, then the 11th, then 12th at 11am, then the 12th at 12:30. As I paid for my own rental, this was quite frustrating and expensive When I finally got it back they missed work that needed to be done, and the paint job in some areas needed to be redone as it was bubbling and flaking off. Fortunately, I happened to be greeted by the owner who was attentive, understanding, and stood by his company's work. He also listened to my concerns about the schedule and assured me he would talk to the project manager. At this point, I'm not sure if I will go back. The only reason I would is that the owner actually stands behind their work and is attentive to customer concerns. I don't have much faith in the rest of the office however. I did feel like I was just one of many and more of a bother than an actual client. read more

I dropped off my car and picked up the rental car immediately and got an estimate the next day. I was told it would take 6 days because they had to replace two doors and my fender but I actually got my car back in 2!! They also did an amazing job - like nothing ever happened. I came here after my parked car was hit by some knuckle head who didn't have the courtesy to leave their information. My passenger mirror was completely ripped off, I had a large scratch on one panel, a dent in the bumper, and my hubcap had been smashed (see "BEFORE" photo). After bringing my car in, I was provided with a few options by one of the techs and truly felt like he had my best interests (and my wallet) in mind. He answered all of my questions and I didn't feel like I was being forced into a decision. What I initially thought would be almost $500 only cost $250, after a recommendation by the tech and I'm super happy with the results. The job was thorough and you can't even tell there was once a long scratch or any sort of bumper damage (see "AFTER" photo). Car looks good - they fixed what needed fixing, kindly buffed another scratch, and somehow returned my car cleaner than I left it. It's only been about a month since it was fixed, but there are no issues so far. Truly great customer service. They helped me work with my insurance company and car rental company to straighten out several issues. They really went out of their way for me when they didn't need to. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it during such a stressful time - even a minor car accident (even one that's not your fault!) can quickly get expensive. Somehow finding good, reasonable people in this whole system is extremely difficult, but they're certainly here. Why I'd go back: A thorough job and great communication Tony's Tip: Right at the Harvard St. stop on the Green line, so you can get into town and back pretty easily while they are working on your car. I had the unfortunate experience of opening my door into traffic on Clarendon St. in the Back Bay and an SUV nearly took my door off! Needless to say, I needed a tow and a new door. While waiting for the AAA truck, I Yelped auto repair and found uniformly positive reviews of Glenville Terrace Auto Repair nearby, which was important since I was going to have to pay the tow truck by the mile. When the AAA driver told me he brings a good number of cars there, I felt even more comfortable that I had made the right choice. Barry, the owner, and his crew had my car for about two weeks. Rodrigo was the guy who was handling the process. During the entire time, both he and Barry stayed in touch with me, updating me on the timeline for parts to be delivered and how the repairs were going. Rodrigo also noticed the damage to my left rear panel (from having sideswiped the metal pole in my garage one night), and he suggested that he could take care of that for a reasonable fee because he was already performing some similar steps for the main repair. I'd been holding off on this because it was going to take a nice chunk out of my wallet, but his price was a dealmaker. In the end, I got my car back in better shape than it came in, and at a very reasonable cost. And yes, they do a stellar job on the interior and exterior before they return it to you. I should also say that these guys went above and beyond on the service side. First, they put me into a rental for a few extra days at no cost to me. Secondly, when they couldn't get a matching mirror to replace the one that had been damaged, they replaced BOTH exterior mirrors so they would match, with the cost of the passenger's side unit coming out of their pocket. And third, they let me leave the car there two straight nights so I could pick it up late after going out after work. In the end, Glenville Terrace Auto Repair is run by and staffed with trustworthy people who do great work at a good price, and they treat you like you are truly important to their business. I never in my life thought I would be drafting a 5-star review for a car-repair place. Never. And here I am drafting such a review for the most understanding, professional, hard-working, knowledgable mechanics I have ever known. I discovered Glenville Terrace, not from walking by it, as I did a few times a month, since it's located at the busy Harvard ave / comm ave green line stop, but from need: My three-week old, BRAND NEW right off the lot Toyota Prius was hit by a ~12-long tree limb which flew from a good 70+ feet away, in the Feb 2012 60-mph winds that we had in Boston. I have had my license for over ten years, and (knock on wood) I have never had any kind of accident. But go figure, this would happen to my first new car: a trashed windshield, a sideview mirror half ripped off, half dented hood, a completely convex 6-inches of window pillar.... ya know that metal piece of framework meant to hold the car and to hold the windshield. MAJOR repairs. I only lived in MA (let alone Boston) for two years, and so I was panicked, and understandably upset when I had to both deal with this, AND find an autobody shop for the first time. to make matters worse, this all happened on a Saturday. I hadn't noticed until 10pm, and so I spent Sunday towing my car off the street (leave a new car with a busted windshield on the st in Boston? No. but that's a whole other review....(see D&G Towing) The worst part, is that I work in western mass. I lived there during the week, and so I needed to find someone in Boston whom I could trust to fix my 3-week old baby while I was away. On monday, I used the "highly approved" list within the list that my insurance agent sent me, and used Yelp (thank youuuuu yelp and yelp users!!!) to narrow the results. It came down to three places. One had 10 reviews of 5-stars, one had no reviews, and Glenville Terrace, which, at the time, had over 50 5-star reviews. No brainer. I called the shop around 630pm on that day, expecting to get a voicemail since the page said they closed at 6. Instead, the owner, Barry, picked up the phone. He was understanding, and knowledgable about what the insurance process may entail. He was the first person in all of this disastrous mess to put me at ease. It was going on 7pm by the time we hung up (again-- the store closes at 6!) He let me cry about it a bit on the phone-- the first person who didn't just say "Oh I am sorry" and that's it. Someone else had had the nerve to tell me "Oh it's just a car" (Not in the sense of --"glad you're ok" -but in the sense that "it's an object- who cares." Again, this was my *first* new car, -- actually a car I hadn't paid a SINGLE CENT for yet. Barry understood me. He assured me that he would take the utmost care , and put one of his best guys on it, Rodrigo. He understood my concerns about a busted windshield -fears of theft and weather-damage if left outside -- and he promised that my car would not see the light of day unless it were fully sealed. I slept a little better that night, for the first time in two days.... (I slept for the first full night in 3 days on Tuesday- when the car was in Barry's hands (and out of the tow lot...again...see D&G Towing)). Barry was able to get an estimate of the damage and the time it would take. I was surprised to hear 4 to 6 weeks.... but with the type of damage, and time to get parts in..... I am sure this is normal. Not having ever been in an accident, I didn't have much to go off of. Barry and Rodrigo worked with my insurance agent, gave me weekly calls to update me on the car's progress, and not only welcomed my anxious-"motherly" need to check on my car weekly when I returned from work at the end of each week--- they invited me come in to check up, Each week Barry welcomed me, and Rodrigo took a good 10-15 minutes going over the details of each new thing that was done to the car, showing me the old pieces, the new ones that had come in, the work that would happen the next week. He gave me a tour of the shop, showed me how they pick *just* the right color (when the time came) to paint the car and match it's brand new blue-ribbon color (actual color name). He showed me pictures of the welding and introduced me to the other gentlemen working on the car. They took *EXTREMELY* good care of the car, took full consideration of my concerns - minute pieces of broken glass from the windshield, concerns about the car being left outside, becoming dirty (fabrics), security, or anything... and even went BEYOND above and beyond abating my concerns. Interior pieces were removed to maintain cleanliness-- wrapped up, and put in the office while they worked on the frame. All in all, it was ~$10,000 in damage to make my brand new car new again. And now my car IS as good as new (see pictures above), and took ~5 weeks. Now I must stop, as I have reached the 5001 character limit. Rodrigo removed OEM parts from my car that had noting to do with the reason for my car being repaired, and replaced them with god-knows-what parts. These parts include (at least) the sunroof, the horn (if not the entire security system), and the battery (not OEM but less than a year old at the time). The vehicle's electronics were also left malfunctioning disastrously. I left my vehicle with Glenville Terrace Auto Body to have it sanded and repainted after it had been severely vandalized during the first few months following my relocation into a majority white neighborhood. When I got the car back six weeks later, I immediately noticed that the sunroof, which had not been damaged at all and did not need repair, had been replaced with one having a different color tint and a long scratch on the glass. I knew right away what had been done and decided that it was a tolerable capstone to a period of tremendous frustration. I just wanted the situation to be over with and take my car home (or should I say back to the apartment where I was residing). I wish now that I had not signed the insurance money over to Rodrigo and his colleagues. Later on, I started to notice odd things: 1) the front passenger door had stopped locking/unlocking, 2) the sound system would turn off, sometimes when I applied the brakes, causing Spotify to pause, and 3) my battery kept loosing its charge, forcing me to request service from my insurance company, among 4) other things. Whenever I had the battery tested, I was told that it was functional/healthy, so I kept using it. Later on still, I honked the car horn and discovered that the sound was completely different. It was quiet. High pitched. Weak. It sounded like the horn of a children's handheld toy, and it frustrates me knowing that the sound does not convey the influence that I want to have over other drivers' behavior. In short, I got robbed by Glenville Terrace Auto Body. My car is in a dysfunctional state after previously being perfect. And I will never again do business or recommend that anyone do business with Glenville Terrace Auto Body again. What disgraceful people. read more

Nobody wants to need autobody repairs, but if you need them, this is the place to go. We have needed them twice since January. On January 1, the brick back wall of my neighbor's house fell down, and buried my wife's Toyota Camry under literally a ton of bricks, damaging the entire back of the car. We had it towed to Glenville, and they did a 100% repair on the back of the car. As a result of the back wall failure, there was scaffolding in the back yard. I backed my Jeep Liberty into one of the scaffold posts, and broke the back bumper. I drove it to Glenville, and about 4 days later drove off with a new back bumper, and paint so well matched I could not tell it had been painted. They did one extra service. They vacuumed the inside of the Jeep, and washed the outside, both services appreciated. I hope that the next time I need body work it will to be to repair normal New England rust damage, but when I do need body work, this is where I will take my vehicles. read more

I didn't even have any work done on my car here, but here's why i gave it 5 stars. i gave them a call around 12pm during the week and asked if i could drop my car off later that afternoon. he said sure! when i got there they gave my situation a lot of attention (my car basically falling apart and having tons of issues.) they said they'd call in me in the morning or possibly that night. someone called me that night with a question, which made me understand how dedicated they were to figure out the problem. we spoke in the morning about how bad the car really was and he was extremely sympathetic. his advice (and i agree) was to get rid of the car and not waste my money. he gave me great advice and was on the phone with me for 15 minutes discussing options. i completely trust their judgment and i think they truly care for what they do and run a great business. read more

I brought my car in to get a brake job done and to get an estimate on how much it would cost to repair or replace the exhaust pipe since there was a crack in it from rust. The estimate came out to be almost $1900... Without an estimate on the exhaust!!! They claimed that I needed all new brakes, rotors and calipers. They didn't give me an exact estimate on the exhaust because they said they needed to replace the whole exhaust system and they would have to order the parts and that would take a few days. The man I spoke to said I would be looking at least $2000 for the exhaust alone. Luckily, I decided to take it to another place because it was much to expensive. At the other shop, I was told that my front brakes and rotors were fine - I wouldn't have to replace them for a couple of months. I also found out that my calipers were in good condition too. The mechanic actually seemed shocked that someone would say they needed to be replaced. I ended up getting back brakes and rotors and got a new exhaust system put in the same day... All for much less than the thousands of dollars Glenville Terrace was trying to scam me for. read more

A few months ago, my 26-year old Buick started making a noise in the front end. Since I am somewhat new to the area, I didn't know where to go. Yelp led me to Glenville Terrace.. Upon arrival, I explained my concerns to Barry, the owner. I also asked him about body work since I have some rust issues. He said he'd look at it, but they don't do rust, so I was out of luck there.. He was also annoyed when I told him not to use the drivers side window because it comes off the track.. 2 days later.. I got a call from the mechanic who told me the noise was stabilizer links.. He then proceeded to list a whole bunch of other sh!t that my car needed making it sound very bad. Next, Barry got on the phone and basically told me that it was ultimately my decision, but in his opinion, the car was not worth repairing all the things it needed. His tone of voice was very discouraging. He advised me to sell the car while it was still rolling and buy a Honda! :/ So, I told him to replace the stabilizer links for $100 and that was it.. While Glenville is an honest shop with fair rates, I feel that they just didn't want to put in the time on an antique car that requires a fair amount of TLC. That's fine.. I'd much rather find someone who loves working on classic American cars and tells me its worth repairing. So, I took my business elsewhere, and I'm still driving her! :D read more

If I could give no stars I would. After searching on yelp and seeing so many great reviews I told myself why not give these guys a try. The first time I went here and paid out of my pocket in full it was a great experience. I met with Barry (owner of the shop) and they had great service and great people. I then got into a second accident and told myself why not go to Glenville again. It was a nightmare. 1. Got the run round on my car for weeks. 2. Was told the car was done but there were several things still not addressed 3. Was told it was done and they still haven't addressed the issues above. 4. Went there for the 4th time and got the car back and it still wasn't fixed. (Body panels were completely half-a**ed all had dents paint was terrible and clips and bolts were missing) 5. I finally called my insurance company and told them I wanted to take the car elsewhere. 6. Barry was on vacation at this time so I called back to tell him my horrible experience. I told him how to make things right and he agreed. He was going to order some parts for me but surprisingly he never called back. It was a shame that I gave them so many opportunities but with so many great reviews I was sure they would own up and make things right. Sure enough I was completely wrong. I lost missed several days of work because I was told the car was ready. I spent hours there out of my time to try to work things out. People may read this and say that this is just one bad review but notice I GAVE them the opportunity to fix what they did wrong and they failed to do so. read more

I love these guys! I had some hail damage last year, and Glenville was recommended by my insurance company. I checked them out on Yelp to make sure they were reputable, and felt a lot better after seeing all of the great reviews. I took my vehicle in, and truly couldn't have been happier with both the work they did and their customer service. Fast forward to December 2016 - I was rear-ended and (of course!) Glenville was where I wanted the repairs done. Both insurance companies (mine and that of the person that hit me) recommended them again, which speaks volumes IMO. Every. single. person I worked with there was friendly and helpful, and once again the work they did was outstanding. They were accurate with their time estimate from the beginning, and provided consistent updates on the status of the repairs and when I could expect to get my vehicle back. I really can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. 5 stars doesn't seem like enough. It's so unusual to find this level of great work in addition to really friendly staff, especially in a city. Barry, Rodrigo, Elaine, Danny, and all of the others I worked with - you guys are the best. I'll be a customer for life! read more
