It's wonderful that you can do a mommy and me class at 18month. It has been so fun- I love the gymnastics classes because it focuses on waiting in line, being patient, and the littles love it so much. I strongly believe that Gliders Gymnastics is more focused on making money than providing quality instruction for kids. The coaches are extremely unprofessional and unsuitable for working with young children. In particular, two younger blonde coaches stand out as being unnecessarily mean and harsh with the girls. My daughter, who loves gymnastics, learned more on her own than she did in the months she attended this gym. She progressed to Intermediate 1, but for some reason, she was stuck there despite her efforts. During her last assessment, she was in tears because the feedback she received was contradictory--she was told she got something wrong that she had done correctly. It felt like the goal was to hold her back intentionally to keep us paying for the same level a third time! There is hardly any difference between Intermediate 1 and 2; the skills are nearly identical. This further supports my belief that the assessments are set up to prolong kids' time at each level unnecessarily. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was because my daughter truly loves gymnastics, but after this last assessment, I refuse to support their scheme any longer. I would not recommend Gliders Gymnastics to anyone looking for a supportive and professional environment for their child. read more

We had high hopes for this gym. Unfortunately when we went to our trial class for tumbling we were not impressed with the coaching (my daughter is currently in gymnastics at another gym so we were only here for tumbling with the intent of switching gyms completely once we got a feel for the place). I did see other coaches who looked more engaged so I figured maybe it was just that class. Sadly when I called to see if we could try out a class with a different coach I was told we could not. Came here on a field trip with little ones. The kids love it. The gym is nice and clean.. Give that 5 stars Coach Eric is very very unprofessional and not trained to deal with little ones. His tones made us all feel very uncomfortable. Very unprofessional. Constantly angry and shouting at the 4-5yr olds. He needs to remember he was not doing us a favor we were paying customers. Wish there's a zero star option. They did not even earn this one star I'm mandatory to give!! 1st class for my twins, instructors did not even say anything to lead the kids. Instead, they just sat down and did their own things expecting 3YOs joining for Parent and me class to follow. I have NEVER experienced any GOOD places doing this! My kids started crying after 2 mins and none of them came to guide them or invite me to go in and help. I pulled them out right away and left. I'm definitely "scolding" our city for letting this place to offer class through our city programs. AND, report them as "failed to provide service" to my credit card. The class is fine. No problems. Sometimes a little too big which leaves the kids bored. However the bigger issue is the seating. They used to have chairs, now they have benches. Benches that people spread out on while 20 people are standing. The seating situation needs to be addressed. Last week I counted 26 people standing, that is not even including the people outside who don't even attempt to come in and sit. They seriously want people, grandparents and all of that standing for 45 minutes?! Figure out the chair situation. It makes it even worse when it's 85 degrees in there.... read more

Very unorganized gym. I don't see bringing my kids again here after trying out. No proper equipments and most coaches are yelling. The AC is mostly turned off and the viewing area is so horrible. i thought long before writing this review about Gliders Gymnastics (formerly known as Charter Oak Gymnastics) and decided it was the right thing to do. Last Friday I witnessed the most degrading experience between an employee and I'm assuming manager or owner. I've noticed the turnover rate at this gym is constantly increasing, my niece hasn't had a consistent coach since they've moved to this location. After Friday, I completely understand why, the heated argument between the older gentlemen and the young employee I would hope was about a serious matter considering how loud and aggressive the older gentleman was. It is completely unprofessional for any manager, employer, owner, to talk to their staff in a public setting in front of children and parents regarding ANYTHING but most importantly work related issues. I will absolutely be taking out my niece from this program, and I do hope that the other parents who also noticed the turnover rate or the argument Friday do the same. How can we trust these people with our children, when they can't even treat their employees with respect? I've heard parents speak on the accusations about the owner and his wife, the way they treated their gymnasts, and unfortunately I do believe them now after witnessing the heated encounter. I hope that employee doesn't settle for a place that treats him like that, or any employee who works there for that matter. read more

the moment you asked for refund all hell break lose here. very rude staff! super unorganized and highly unethical with their moral and attitude . one staff said we will issue refund then another say we don't. so I kept getting run around about refund for the unused classes. as someone who enrolled not long ago it is very confusing but overall the experience was not good at all. they are very rude period , they requested dr. notes about my kid injury so sent them but they refused so sent another therapy confirmation so they had no choice but instead of refund they will only issues credit 48$ for future classes. ( so i had no choice but continue with them for a month ) my kid truly hates it here. I had to drag her in class a few times because she's scared oh the instructor. The staff were very rude. almost looked like everyone who works here looked very stressed and very rude. so after my daughter recovered from injury I logged on to re-enroll her in the class to find out they deactivated my daughter account with the 48$ credit in it . so i called to find out why?! to be told yes they cancelled our account with the credit in it because I wrote a negative review online. ( review is a freedom of speech and it based on 100% true experience. ) moral of the story if they said they will avoid refund, instead credit you buy cancel / deactivate your account to avoid giving refund or credit.. it is kind of like a scam! Terrible instructors, terrible management. I clicked the transfer enrollment button to change my daughters class, but apparently, transfer means ADD a class -and then they clarify in a subsequent email that comes a significant time later. Spoke to manager Kimmy about this to see if they could credit the 2-3 months she was not attending this class. Apparently a partial month's credit towards a future class was all she could provide. As far as an explanation, apparently I should be combing through my confirmation email to deduce that the 'transfer class' button means 'adding a class (since you cannot drop a class online).' Since the instructors aren't the greatest anyway (never demonstrate, hardly watch what the children are doing), we chose to go elsewhere. If you do choose charter oak, please note you cannot drop a class online. read more

Not what I expected at all. The first day when I had my daughter in the classs( I did not know they don't have a free trial) I wanted a refund, they said I can only get credit. Anyhow, I continued to finish the entire session. The original coach was not kid friendly and the admin staff that were helping was super unfriendly. I will give kudo to the substitute coach Nicholas who is very good with kids hence the two stars. If there were more coaches like him it would not have been so bad. Some of the coaches are the most toxic people I've ever met in my life. I remember that when I was 11 I used to be in a summer program and one of the coaches constantly accused me of being rude to her all because of this one day where she misinterpreted an anxiety attack I was having while she was telling everyone to line up (I was just diagnosed with severe OCD at the time and I got little occasional anxiety attacks that made it difficult for me to move or speak at times). From then on she would constantly single me out and embarrass me in front of the other kids and it really took a toll on my mental well being at the time. Thankfully I told my mom about it and she was able to take me out of there and we never set foot into that building ever again. And to coach Lexi, if you ever happen to stumble upon this review, I hope you realize the severe mental scars you have left me growing up, and that other people learn about how much of a horrible human being you really are, so that someday you'll realize that it is never okay to treat another kid the same way you treated me. Maybe you'll finally learn not to be scummy to little kids. :] And to the people that run this place: do better. I have still heard rumors of many of these coaches being extremely passive aggressive to the innocent little kids that just want to learn gymnastics and enjoy their youth. read more

This gym has the best coaches. They're realistic with goals and won't allow you to waste your money if they don't see potential. They have glass up so the parents can't scream at the kids while they're teaching them. The kids all seem to have a great time and work really hard. Even the advanced competitive gymnast help the little ones. The only bad thing about this gym is the parents who bring their rude and obnoxious children with them while the rest of us are trying to watch our kids skill. I hope this isn't the entire staff but the front desk staff member who help me made zero conversation and didn't help at all, she was really unaccommodating. Also, there are trials that you can bring your kids to to test if they will do ok in that learning environment before committing to anything long term (of which I had ZERO idea existed because no one will ever mention it. I was told you have to find it on their website) but IT'S UPON REQUEST so PLEASE REQUEST IT. So ask before you make the same mistake I did and lose out on $140. I'm now stuck. read more

My daughter is 3 and we do the monkeys class, she's been in that class for 5 months now and we love it! Coach Jessie is the best, she has so much patience for the kids and overall is a very welcoming person. She works with each kid and helps them to improve and focus. When we first started the class my daughter had barely turned 3 and her attention span was little to not existent, and she was super impatient. Coach Jessie worked with her every month to help with her attention span and learn to be more patient. It's honestly helped tremendously because she pays attention now and even waits her turn to go. I've done the other classes for makeups and the coaches are awesome but my favorite Coach to work with is with Coach Jessie! She's the best and my daughter truly enjoys gymnastics at charter oak. read more

I brought my daughter here for their 3-4 age group program. I really liked the instructors and really appreciated the Saturday free play time. My only qualm about this place is their front office. They are dealing with little kids and its important to me that they're sensitive to that. At the end of my daughters first session there, she was given a perfect attendance award... she understood this as being entitled to getting a little prize from the front desk because of her award (not completely illogical as they do in fact provide little prizes when kids do well). We walked over to the front office as I did have questions about the upcoming sessions, when she asked the girl about getting a prize they girl brushed her off and said she didn't give them out for that. Really? How difficult/expensive is it to give a kid a candy or lollipop? Ridiculous. For anyone who has a child, you know how saying no to a child about something like this can be the end of the world for them. This experience really killed it for me. It's not petty and my daughter was not being a brat. It's a shame that they would lose my business over something so stupid as being stingy about a piece of candy. My daughter has been eager to join gymnastics, so I started searching for places and I came across this one. I really liked it looked like an actual gymnastics gym and not a high school gym with just mats on the floor. My daughter really enjoys coming to her sessions mon and thurs. I enjoy watching her thrive and doing something she loves. The coaches I love are firm when they have to be and they want the kids to pay attention. I feel like that's the only way for them to learn. My only complaint is the group sizes and not enough attention goes into each student. It would be awesome to see a little more interaction from the coaches with each student, because some of the newer ones or smaller ones do have a hard time sometimes. But overall i'm pretty happy for what I pay. As long as my daughter is happy and I do see some improvement from coming here we will keep coming back. read more

My daughter has been coming to Charter Oak for a few years now. This is something that she wants to do. As her dad, I am a novice at this sport, but she has really become exited about gymnastics more and more. The coaches here are great, at her level they are friendly, welcoming yet can still heard cats into getting a lot of productive stations in during a session. I believe the sessions are 8 weeks long, with testing on the 7th week. That leaves the 8th week as a fun week. My daughter really enjoys those weeks. Double check when you sign up if something has changed. It is really an encouraging atmosphere from the office staff, coaches and the girls training. My daughter has worked up to going 3 times a week and wants to go 4 times a week! Also, for a 6 year old, she is more fit than most adults!! Great place to create a life long disire to be physically active and also get a good amount of energy out before bed! As long as my daughter is interested, I suspect I will be spending many more evenings looking through the anti-parent yell at kids glass! There are many levels and skills my daughter Brooke will be practicing with such a large Variety of Trainers fit for each level of skill. I'm amazed at how well Gymnastics class is organized. So we started coming here for parent and me gymnastics through the city of Glendora after we were not happy with another gym. We loved it to so much we joined the gym on our own and have been apart of the Charter Oak family for 2 going on 3 years. Our daughter has grown so much during her time here. She enjoys coming to camp and her classes. And even though she is still a busy bee 4 year old with tons of energy, the coaches have helped her gain confidence and patience and she just thrives on going and working on her skills. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE I used to attend here when I was around 12 years old and they will know who I am after I post this but I really don't care , I just want to leave a note for any parents researching places to send their kids for gymnastics. I practiced here and competed for a few years around the time I was in middle school, and I ended up being Vault State Champ one year. Despite the fact that their methods of practice and unspoken pressure can produce amazing athletes, there is a lack of empathy and respect for that individual when it comes to knowing their limits, their boundaries. I had a knee injury due to soccer (which I played at the same time as gymnastics) Many times I would go to charter oak for practice after my Doctors appointments where they told me to take it easy, to rest. The opposite would happen, my injury would be brushed aside as me "faking it" or being "overdramatic" and I would be assigned "modified training" which would still continue to strain my knee. As coaches who work with athletes that have such a high risk of injury, they should be more in tune with how to recognize and treat those injuries rather than blame the athlete and call her a liar or overdramatic. At one point during my training at charter oak a coach named Sarah had called me out of the lineup of girls to come up to her while everybody else was watching and our conversation lead to her grabbing my face with her hand and when I turned around to try and get away, she yanked me backwards by my ponytail. The incident was kept under wraps and my family didn't go after them because my sister was still attending there. Looking back, we should have. What happened was unacceptable and absolutely out of line. No coach should be putting their hand on a child like that regardless of how much power they think they have. Another instance of this is Beth Rybacki and her love of grabbing gymnasts really hard behind their neck at the base and pushing them forwards to walk. She used to do this when she would get frustrated with one of the girls. This unnecessary use of force was just another method of intimidation and pressure to conform. One more major issue at this facility is the absolute lack of education on childhood ADHD and how it relates to sports and young athletes. This condition affects millions of children and as a facility that works with children they should be updated and informed- working with children has many aspects, as parents you know that. Children who have ADHD have been shown to benefit and lessen certain symptoms of hyperactivity by being in sports, but this can come with some issues at practice - it just depends on the child. Some Symptoms of childhood ADHD - "Fail to pay close attention to details or make careless mistakes" - " Have trouble staying focused in tasks" - " Appear not to listen, even when spoken to directly" - " Have difficulty following through on instructions " - " Fidget with or tap his or her hands or feet, or squirm in the seat" - " Run around or climb in situations when it's not appropriate" - " Talks too much, blurts out answers which interrupt the questioner" * " ADHD negatively impacted strength, agility and coordination in children (Cho et al. 2014), which may in turn have an impact on social functioning and participation in sports; " * "Athletes with ADHD exhibit increased risk-taking behaviour, and this is hypothesised to lead to an increased risk of sports injury." ________________________ Overall my experience at this gym was not a good one and I seriously recommend you take your child somewhere else. Dealing with the resentment (which was obvious through their actions) from the coaches, the not believing my injuries, the neck grabbing, the hair pulling, the being sent to the bench for the rest of practice for something I couldn't control and they should have recognized- it all added up to my eventual dislike of the sport and I ended up quitting and continuing my love for soccer with great teammates and coaches who care. Please put your child first rather than your dream for them to go pro. read more

My daughter started going to Charter Oak Gymnastics three years ago when she was three. She started in the little gym which was great the class size was OK and the coaches were good. Once my daughter moved up to the big gym that's when the problems started. The classes have way too many students and my daughters instructor (I believe her name was Sara) did not impress me at all. If I am paying for my child to participate in this activity and hopefully get to the level of competing there is not enough attention from the instructors to really fine tune skills. If your looking for an activity for your to participate in for fun and something to do this place is what your looking for. But it was not what I was looking for. read more

Our 12 year old daughter has flourished throughout the years at Charter Oak Gymnastic. We enrolled her when she was around 3 1/2 years in the mommy and me class to have social stimulation with other children her age and we wanted her to learn how to slide, roll and tumble safely because we just couldn't keep her from jumping on everything and everywhere she went. During the mommy and me classes I observed something totally unexpected, she actually established a bond with the coach Lisa Mueller (who now has moved to Texas and opened her own gym) after seeing the professionalism and quality of coaches Charter Oak hires we were not going anywhere, we wanted our daughter to continue growing in a healthier and safe environment. Fast forward 8 1/2 years our daughter has moved from the academy classes, pre-team, competitive compulsory gymnastics and now has moved into competitive optional gymnastics. With the increased hours of workout times our daughter continues to also grow in her education as she is an honor roll student with a GPA of 4.0 and we appreciate the disciplines and dedication they teach her at the gym, as stay with her in school and therefore she continues to flourish academically. Before I end my comments, we thank Coach Stephen Rybacki for his expertise, uncompromising professionalism and support throughout the years. We also thank Coach Sara Rybacki for her continued expertise and her firm stance with our daughter(s) on being safe before any child can move on. As a mother I truly appreciate that she doesn't compromise her approach to coaching. And finally thank you to Coach Beth and Big Steve for her experience and professionalism and to bringing gymnastics to the families here in the East San Gabriel Valley. My kids have been coming here for several years. The coaches here are incredible teachers. They have helped my kids advance in skill over time. My daughters love it. That being said, I wish they had auto pay or an email invoice with a pay box. I DREAD dealing with the office staff. There was one time that I was the only customer to be helped. The phone rang in the middle of our conversation, and the receptionist asked me to wait one minute. My experience at the Charter Oak gym has been very good. My daughter has attended for 3 years now and is not part of the team program. Although the program is strict I understand why. They do not like the kids being absent, coming in late or being lazy. With all of that my daughter loves her coaches. I'm updating my review based on the summer camp experience. Previous review about their customer service remains the same. The blonde haired woman who sits at her computer and doesn't look up at you while you're talking is still rude and should take a math class. On two separate occasions when I tried talking numbers with her she would make up her own numbers (referring to cost). Like seriously if you hate your job get a different one. Your role is customer service and it's something you clearly lack. I'm not trying to bash anyone here that's not the point and that's rude. But learn courtesy and manners. If she would have been respectful to me during the times I had questions it would've made up for it all. Now because of the problems with the two occasions where there was no staff to open up the doors to the day camp causing me to be late to work was fixed. Robyn the supervisor there provided us with her phone number for emergencies like that one. That I truly appreciated. The camp itself, well my daughter seemed to enjoy it so there's no change there. Horrible customer service! Unfortunately my previous rating was premature-- written shortly after we started at this gym. This new review is not based on a single experience but rather several in the past year. I will just relay the latest--- I have three kids and will be taking my business elsewhere. Before we signed up for this last session--I knew we would miss two classes because of family weddings--two is within their policy make ups--mind you sessions are 8 weeks long. We were not going to miss until week 4 and 5--I tried to schedule the make ups ahead of time--they said--"No you have to miss the class first." Fine, I called after the first class and rescheduled for the last week of the session--and tried to schedule the second missed day-- I was told only "NO you cant do that." I called two weeks before the session ended --right after I got back from out of town--and guess what I was told "we don't schedule the last two weeks due to testing--no exceptions!!" The front office is awful!!! Including the supervisors etc. They feel as if they have sooo many students they can treat people as they want and people will come. Absolutely NOT. I have actually referred several people here--I will not be recommending this place to anyone anymore! read more

My 2 daughters have been taking lessons here at COG for over a year. The instructions and the coaches are great. I especially love coach Shauna. She is passionate about coaching gymnastics and she is great with children! I would've given COG a 4 star review had their makeup policy and their customer service had been decent. They only allow 2 make ups within an 8 week session. Makeups can only be done on Friday based on availability. Last session my daughter was sick during week 6 and again during week 7. I've tried to schedule makeups for both missed sessions and was unable to get any. The front office lady said that their was no space on Friday available so I asked if she may makeup on Saturday and the lady said makeup is for Friday only no exceptions. I understand that it was week 6 and 7 so spaces for makeups on Friday are very limited but they should at least give an exception and give us at least 1 makeup on Saturday. I feel like the makeup policy is unfair and too restrictive. I've read reviews about the terrible customer service by the front desk ladies and I couldn't agree more. Since my first experience with the front desk ladies last March that I knew customer service skill was not a requirement at COG. The ladies hardly ever smiles nor say hi. Their answers are usually short and abrupt. There was only 1 lady, Heather, who only worked at COG for a few months and she was sweet and very accommodating. She smiled and said hi to everyone. She went above and beyond to answer customer's questions and concerns. Wish Heather the best. Overall COG is a great place for learning gymnastics. I will continue to have my daughters continue their lessons here at COG. Hopefully the customer service and the makeup policy will improve. read more

I have my kids in other activities and not a single place puts such limitations on make ups. When I told the front desk lady I will not sign my daughter back up for the next session because of this, she couldn't care less.
