Sam showed me multiple hairstyle pictures of what I wanted, and he explained the whole process of what he would need to do and was honest on the overall hairstyle based on my face shape. Let's start by saying that I am SOOOO excited to find this salon!!! I do not live in Flushing area but I have friends who would commute couple of hours to this area just to get their hair done and they recommended me about Glitter hair which is totally a hidden gem!!! Unlike other salons, this one is located inside the Sheraton Hotel which can be a little bit difficult to find if you are not familiar with this area. The salon itself is SUPER CLEAN! It even doesn't smell like a salon! The reason I said that is because they do not any traces of those heavy chemical smells like other salons and this can be a lifesaver if you are looking for a relaxing hair experience. The stylist my friend recommended is Steven, who is super friendly and knows exactly what I wanted. Although he doesn't talk that much, we still had a smooth and time efficient conversation about how to cure my damaged hair that has been over dyed. I came in with a brassy tone damaged hair and left with a head full of beautifully created golden highlight! What can I ask for!!! I learned about Glitter Hair Salon from my previous hairstylist who used to work there. The salon is hidden inside Sheraton Hotel, so they have a set of standard that they need to follow which you can tell as soon as you step in. The salon is extremely clean. There is no harsh smell like some salons, and all you smell is the wonderful aroma of their products. The owner Sam is professional and passionate about his work. I went in to get an ash blonde ombre. He was very careful handling my hair to ensure it would not be damaged. The result was good and my hair was still soft and shiny like it was never treated with chemical. However, after I left the salon I felt that the color was too light for me and my work, so I contacted Sam two days later if he could do something about it. He was courteous and wanted to make sure I was happy so he asked me to go back. I went back today and he helped me cover more of the top with a darker shade without charging me anything extra. My new favorite hair salon!! I entered the salon not sure of what color I really wanted, but Sam and Jason sat down with me to help me decide on the perfect color. They made sure that I would be happy with the results and I absolutely was! They even offered water and took my coat. The inside was very clean and I could tell how much the workers cared about their business. a great experience! summary: - amazing hospitality, everyones nice - paid great attention to detail - treats all the customers with the same type of care - beautiful work - willing to listen and asks/answers questions - straightforward, no funny business - you have a week to go back if something goes wrong with your color! the long version: i was looking for a pink and was referred to by a friend so i came in for a consultation. Sam told me everything i needed to know straight up, things like that i needed to bleach again, what shades would look better and take longer etc, and the price. he gave me an excellent price for everything and we set up an appointment for a few days later. i came in a bit late because of traffic (oops) and he had already started on another client so i had to wait, totally understandable. while i was waiting they provided me with lime water, a robe coverup thing (?), and plenty of magazines to kill time. one thing ive noticed going to many salons in the past is that because im young, 16 (and look even younger), they tend to disregard my opinion or questions, presumably because they think they know better than me, and kids without their parents dont know good from bad apparently. it has always aggravated me because i never fully enjoy the final result, hence why i keep switching salons. Sam was the first to treat me how i wanted to be treated as a client. he paid full attention and walked me through it, telling me what he was doing with each product, and answered questions when i had them. after the job was finished, he styled it with some waves and gave me a can of dry shampoo as a gift. the color ended up really nice and the closest to an example photo ive ever gotten (first photo attached is my hair). the same week, i went on vacation where it was sunny and beachy and all, great for me, not so great for the hair color. it faded a lot sooner than expected and i messaged Sam about it. he told me the reasons for the fade (the sun mostly) and offered to do a color reboot for free! of course i took on his offer and we talked about which colors would last longer, look better, and so on. when we decided on a color, we set up an appointment and i just came back from it (second photo attached). again, love the color! its similar to the original but a bit different because thats what we agreed on (for longer lasting color). he told me that he had included a treatment for my damaged hair and even gave me a whole bottle of purple conditioner to take home. overall, a great experience from start to finish, over a whole 2 weeks lol. Sam was very patient and forgiving, working with me throughout the whole process, and it was a nice atmosphere for the customers. definitely going to recommend friends and family (already got one on the list haha) and coming back here for future endeavors! p.s. while i was waiting for the bleach to set, Sam was cutting two other girl's hair from long to short, and he paid the utmost attention to the cuts. getting high and low and everything lol. when the girl had a suggestion and said she noticed this or that, Sam got right to fixing it up so its just like how she would like it. so i could see that its great to get a cut here as well! if youre not looking for color. read more
