Craft Beer - Chicken Wings - Tots I'm a fan of Global Brew Tap House. In my opinion, they have the best wings in Edwardsville and beyond. I've tried multiple sauces and cannot pick a favorite, because they all make my tastebuds dance. Pairing the wings up with a cold craft beer and a side of tots makes for a great lunch, a treat for Happy Hour and a super dinner. I am a stickler for the quantity of my flats and drums being the same and GBTH always serves me matching numbers. The wings are always good sized, crispy and meaty. Again, they are the best wings I have had on the Eastside of the Mississippi. This August they are doing, Pawgust. When you buy a craft beer from Alaskan Brewing Co. a $1 from ever beer goes to Gateway Pet Guardians. I drank an extra beer on my last visit and I will make sure to go back a couple more times during August. I like it when I can eat, drink and raise monies for a dog charity all at the same time. I always sit at the bar and the service is attentive and friendly. If the bartenders are friendly, I can only assume the table servers are equally as good. Popped in for a quick meal. Great selection of local and regional beers. Great size menu of food, meals and stackable. I opted for the 1lb bone-in wings with the spicy dry rub. They were a bit too salty for my taste, but otherwise were cooked well and the spiciness was just right. I've been going to Global Brew for years. Great beer selection with a few good bourbons as well. They didn't have food at the old location and to be honest since they've been in the new building I've mostly eaten their tots and tacos or nachos here and there. This time I decided to give the burger a try. Overall, the flavor was decent but I didn't care for the bun. Tots were good as usual. Great beer selection. That's where it ends. My in-laws warned us before going that the wait for food would overwhelming disappointment. So we thought we would just order appetizers with another couple we went with. Well, the bartender was less than helpful. We watched a table of 8 get their plates delivered two at a time with 10-15 minutes between the next 2 plates. After ordering our appetizers 2 delivered and 10 minutes later the remaining delivered. And forget about asking for salsa for your quesadilla--they don't have it. Last night's excuse: they had a brand new cook on his second night of work on his own in the kitchen. WTF. I love the GB in Edwardsville. The food is usually very good. The last two times, however, has been pretty bad. I came in last week and sat for 20 minutes and was ignored. 2 servers and a bartender. Wasn't that busy on a Sunday evening. I left and came back a few days later. Great service, food was terrible. Ordered the GB nachos with ground beef; it wasn't ground beef it was a sprinkling of what I can describe as sloppy joe meat. Served cold. Then a quesadilla. Which in the past has been amazing. This was a very nice place. I don't usually go to bars, but I wanted to try their whiskey list. I tried there, 12-year-old Scotch and it was alright. I tried their sausage sampler platter, and it was off the hook, as younger people say. I highly recommend this place. Came to see a colleague off to her new work assignment in Washington! Order: Old Fashion Pros: nice place and huge selection of beer if you are a beer connoisseur. Im not a beer drinker. My old fashion was good but wasnt filled. Cons: I received a 1/2 glass of old fashion. Im not sure why certain places do this while charging $10+. I go to better bars and get my cup filled with less ice for the same price. Such a rip off man. What a nice place to be able to sample beers and hang out with friends! Our local Tesla group met there and we had about 11 folks show up. We found a seat on patio between GBTH and SugarFire. The waitress came over right away and asked we had any questions. The cool thing is you can order beer from here and BBQ from SugarFire. Luckily for GBTH the group ordered both from them. The waitress was awesome. She knew all about the craft selections and could help you pin down a new one close to what you like. I decided to be different and try 5 unique (to me) beers via a flight. I also ordered the SugarFire Taco and Side Tots. The beer keep flowing to our table, food was ordered and delivered quickly, it was a seamless evening. The Tacos were good (recommended right away to another club member) and I think a lot of folks at the table got Tots and a variety of dipping sauces. The only downside was while it was late in the evening and the sun was going down folks were being blinded by the sun. Some sort of netting that breaks it up for the entire patio would have make it much more bearable. That being said, no one left the table but just sat and drank. Stopped in after work to meet a friend for a drink. Very long list of beers along with an incredible on tap selection. Atmosphere was very good. Lots of TVs everywhere but still quiet enough to have a conversation without having to yell. So large of a selection of different beers, definitely a place I will go back and try some other options. I belong to a women's cycling group. Some of us have been have been stopping at global brew in Edwardsville each Thursday evening after our ride for many months. Tonight for the first time I was approached by a very large bearded man who apparently worked there. He was very rude and was attempting to intimidate me when I simply asked for toothpicks for my tatatots from one of the cooks. I get these every week with no issues. He gave me a very mean look as he approached too close for comfort. He seemed angry and gruff. Even some of the young waitresses seemed frightened of him. Perhaps he is new since I've never seen him there before. In any case he frightened me. It was extremely disturbing. Perhaps he is used to using his imposing size and appearance to intimidate old ladies and young girls. I done with this establishment and if you're female I'd stay away. read more

I liked it a lot, lots of beer options and a small Food Menu, I had the verde Tots, they were okay, I just wished they were covered in more green sauce, The barely put sauce on them. The staff aren't as friendly, they reformatted the UN Club, they no longer allow outside food yet don't have very many options on their menu. I will preface this by saying we were at the same establishment on Saturday afternoon and had great service! So much so that we decided to go back today. We just spent the last hour and a half at global, and sadly had to leave with no food. The last count of people in the building were 60 people. We really like this place, but just a heads up to anybody going there. Do not ever order the hot honey pepperoni flatbread. Absolutely the worst version of "flatbread" I have ever seen. Inedible. Some kind of soft dough on the bottom with a can of marinara sauce dumped on top, topped with some chopped pepperoni, some honey drizzled on top and some squeeze cheese. Do not order it! We checked out this place on a Saturday night, and it was pretty full. It is an energetic atmosphere, but it isn't so loud that you have to shout to converse with those closest to you. The music isn't so loud that it requires everyone to be that much louder; it is still possible to hear what music is playing, so they had a good balance going there. They have 50 beers on tap, and over 100 in bottles. They have wine, as well. You are not going to find Bud Light, Miller Light, etc. here. So if you aren't a beer snob or don't want to expand your beer horizons, there are many other bars in the area that will sling you some tasteless brew. They have a section up front on their menu that shows some beers that are good for those who are branching out. Since they are just getting started, their beer menu is quickly morphing and changing as they run out of things due to such high demand. Look to see them solidify their selections and reliability as they get a feel for the area's tastes. There are quite a few TVs for sports watching. They have waitress service to the tables, but no in-house kitchen. You can, however, order delivery food from many close-by restaurants. We have already joined the "Global Brew United Nations" that keeps track of which beers you consume and gives you rewards for reaching numeric milestones. They are very proud of their custom cocktails...and the one we had was undrinkable. I asked the beer fetcher to fix it and he said he couldn't. Everything is premixed and $10 each. They don't even have juice to fix them. He said he usually just adds sprite when some complains because he can't do anything else. I asked about a beer and he handed me the bottle to let me read the label. What I asked is if he had a Dos eqqis (XX) and I pointed to a green bottle next to Modelo. He was pretty sure it was a Japanese beer, but didn't know the name. So I decided to have a nice $6 glass of Strongbow. LOL. I had to go to another window and start a new tab to get food. Tab isn't right. It's separate check, pay as you order. I got an $11 grilled cheese that was smaller than the palm of my hand. It was real good but. My wife asked why I ordered a half sandwich. I didn't. Her $9 one was normal size. Mine appeared to be better. They feature tater tots. $8 for a large order. Plenty of tots, but nothing special for taste or prep. I also ordered a pretzel ($10) because everyone said it was a specialty. I'm not sure if it was stale (fresh baked??!!) or if they were trying for some combination between a Hanovers hard pretzel and a soft pretzel. Whatever it was, it was a failure. We left 70% then as we were leaving, I noticed most tables had lots of pretzel left. Usually I give a place a couple trips before I write it off. I didn't see any reason to go back. If friends were meeting there after work for just a drink or two, I'd skip it. You may want to stop in to try some of their $20 a shot bourbons. The food is good, but as someone else mentioned portions are way off. Get the tots for the table? Ok, you get about a whole bag's worth of tots..again this cost maybe $4 and you add some sauces. They charge $13 for this. The sando my husband got was palm sized, was probably $10. Lastly, the bartenders are all certified here and appear to know what they're talking about. You can't just stumble onto employment in a place that values their reputation. What is bad about this place? Well from the reviews I've seen, people enjoy complaining that they don't serve food. It's a tap house, of course they don't serve food.
