This place has only been open for a couple months. We wanted to try someplace new for our weekly family lunch. It is hidden away in the woods, just off the MCT bike trails. So if you're out for a long bike ride around seven circles, and want a great lunch spot, this is it! They have classic Irish pub food. Rubens, bangers and mash, shepherds pie, lots of stout beers, etc.. It's a little pricier than I would have hoped but everything we ordered was pretty amazing. Service was great. Our waitress Becca was very attentive and friendly and helpful, which I love. There were four of us in our party, but one of us didn't eat. Of the rest of us, one ordered the fish and chips, one ordered the corned beef and cabbage, and I ordered the Rueben with fries. I totally forgot to take pictures, so that's a bummer, because everything was not only quite tasty but presented well. I tried all three of these plates, and I would order any of them again. We came here on St. Patty's day and the vibe of the Irish was definitely apparent! Really neat place. We sat in the dining area which felt very separated from the bar area (pro or con). Service was amazing. Our waitress was spot on! Had the beer cheese and pretzels which were wonderful! I had the corned beef and cabbage. I have to say it was "fancy" with the carrot strips and cabbage with bacon, but the potatoes were in large chunks and dry and not seasoned with much of anything. The star of the show was supposed to be the corned beef had an odd bitter taste similar to how and musty house smells. For what I got $25 was very steep in my opinion. Hubby had the Reuben and stated the corned beef was very salty but over all was good. The chips he had weren't the standard usual bar chips they were wavy, but appeared to be made in house. I have to admit for the price and the quality of the food I would prefer to go somewhere else. Again the server was amazing! Great food, great service, very good atmosphere. Little surprised the ratings are so low, but slow service can really affect a place. Luckily we didn't experience that - at all. Which is surprising because we went at lunchtime on Mother's Day! Every place we called was booked (duh) but Mossy Oak had seating. I made a reservation for a corner booth. (I usually request that because my dining companions are both HOH and use hearing aids. Some places are accommodating and some places aren't. When we walked in and I said my name, the hostess immediately recognized that I had a special request and sat us right away. We got seated and got drinks right away. When the meal came, it was hot and all three of us REALLY liked our food. We ordered a BLT, a shepherd's pie, and a full Irish breakfast. We inquired about the Stout Braised Chicken and were told to allow at least 20 minutes for it to cook. We decided against it in the end, but I appreciate the heads up. We all mentioned multiple times that we would come back for sure. The decor is exactly what you would expect and the restaurant is in a location that I didn't even know about. It's a newer development off 159 with tons of trees, so it felt secluded and peaceful. This would he a great place for families, for Sunday game day, for friends and couples. The mossy stone is a really large and quaint Irish pub. The beer is good and they seem so rotate the draft beers. I always have great service when I visit for trivia nights. I haven't found something on the menu that I love. Fries are mediocore and need more seasoning, pretzel is soft but it's pretty pricey, the wings were pretty good. read more

My husband had a HUGE piece of fish with his fish and chips and I had the chicken 'leg' (it was a dark quarter) mashed were done really well with some red skin in the mix. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to guide us to good choices. We had the fish and chips and the Stout chicken. Both were hot, flavorful and prepared fresh. The chicken litter Lu fell off of the bone. The fish was a huge fillet with deliciously seasoned beer batter. Prices seem a bit steep but the food was good. The food was very flavorful and came out quickly, but the muscles truly needed a piece of bread or something to make it worth the price/ fully experience the sauce. The Reuben was simply great. I'm not the biggest fan of cabbage, but the cabbage with bacon was delicious. The dessert was also lovely. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We sat in the dinning room and there was a table playing their personal music out loud, which I did not appreciate.. the manager stopped by to check on us after that occurred/ they had stopped. Still no chowder order. 649p now our chowder arrives just at we were telling our server that we want to cancel the chowder order bc it is taking so long, another server brought our chowder out and appoligized for it taking so long and said they would take care of it, which meant they took the chowder off our ticket. Our server checked on us once to refill our drinks, but didn't come back during the 30+ min wait for our chowder. I finally had to flag her down to ask if we would be getting our chowder soon before our entrée would be served. She said yes, but they had a big group. So we ate the chowder, which for a chowder, it wasn't creamy like you would think a chowder would be. It was good, but my bf really liked the piece of salmon that was on top of it. I ordered fried pickles, rueben sandwich, rueben egg rolls, and fried fish with fries to go. The pickles were super greasy with coating completely detached from the many of the pickles (not edible). The rueben sandwich was greasy with no thousand island dressing and they packed the stainless steel sauce holder in my to go box as if they packed someone who was dining in order up to go and gave it to me. I threw the whole sandwich away along with the fries because at that point I could not help but think that it was indeed someone else's meal. The rueben egg rolls was the only thing I ate and I only ate one because they were filled with 99% cabbage and 1% meat. My husband ate the fish and said it was ok. I ordered at 6:40pm and food was done as promised by a little after 7pm but, just did not meet edible criteria. Was really looking forward to an Irish restaurant in town. I had fish and chips. I wrongly assumed tarter sauce would be on the side. Never seen it already on the food. It was good however my wife doesn't care for tarter sauce so she reakky are just a little of hers. My adult son ordered Shepherds Pie, one of his favorites. He said there was very little meat in it and mostly potatoes. The portion was pretty small, almost looked like a half portion. He actually came home and are a plate of spaghetti to fill up. The decor is pretty much the same as when it was Shannon's. Service was good. A few Irish things on the wall. Won't go back unless we hear portion sizes have increased. read more

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the kitchen. Service was very slow, which was shocking considering the limited menu. Pleasantly surprised with Mossy Stone today. Went with low expectations due to the previous reviews, but can honestly say has the best service and food that I've had in a long time in Edwardsville. Service (Megan) was swift, friendly, and accurate. I ordered the fish and chips, the hubs got the Rueben, and my son ordered the burger. I tasted all of them, and all were fantastic! The Guinness on draught was on par with Stagger (the best), the Irish Red was great, and we ended the meal with the best Irish Coffee I've ever had! Will be back! read more

A great addition to the Edwardsville restaurant scene. The food is excellent. They take pains to be authentic, doing things like importing the bangers they serve. We went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only table seated in the dining room, there were 6 of us. I ordered the baked Macaroni and cheese ($14) and added bangers ($8). When the food finally arrived , 22 minutes, the wait staff set a flat ramekin in front of me with a small amount of macaroni and some slices of a sausage. I asked if the size was correct and was told that yes it was, and I also pointed out the high cost of not only the macaroni but also the sausages. It took forever to get a drink refill and when we left there were a total of 4 tables/booths occupied. The manager did come over to tell me that the size was correct but there is usually sausages cut up in the dish instead of just sitting on the side. After talking to me she did say she would take that dish off. The other dishes were huge, bangers and mash, corned beef and cabbage, BLT, and Wings. I don't know how they can justify the cost by the serving size of my dish. Not sure if or when we will try this restaurant again. read more
