Many of them even chose to climb onto the troll itself, but I didn't dare. Parking can be super hard to find as the troll is nestled in a residential neighborhood, but after circling around quite a few times, we finally found a spot. Even with the waves of people visiting, I still managed to capture photos of Newt with the troll without anyone in the frame, and my husband even captured a nice photo of us performing our iconic piggyback trick, as well as the cutest shot of me looking up at Newt as he sat on the troll's hand. Caveat: unless your dog is well-trained and can hold a distance AND duration sit-stay (especially on an elevated, uneven surface), I would not attempt to recreate that shot. When you visit the troll, don't forget to look behind you and admire the architecture of the overpass too. It's breathtaking in itself. While we were there, many of the tourists asked me to take photos of them with the troll with their phones or cameras, since they saw I had brought my DSLR with me. Of course I happily obliged. We did not spend too much time at the troll as there wasn't much to do outside of taking photos with it, and as we were leaving, another wave of tourists showed up. The Fremont Troll is a fun spot to take photos at/with, and a cool art installation. I wish we had something similar in the bay or Sac!

After a short stroll down a well-designed dirt path, we found the giant troll. The troll is great for photos and has a sign that describes the history of the troll. My kids enjoyed climbing around the area, too. Facing the opposite direction from the troll is a very cool bridge that creates some awesome cathedral-like architecture. There is lots to do in Fremont, and even though the troll is kind of a one-and-done deal, it's worth checking out simply to explore the rest of the neighborhood and awesome surrounding businesses. The view is outstanding in all directions -- a natural result of taking Seattle's tallest building and emptying out the top floor. It towers over the Needle (you can see it in the near-distance) and costs less, too -- $30 instead of $55. Just a nice place to comfortably chill with a view for a half-hour or so.

This was the absolute number one thing I wanted to see when I was in Seattle. Never been before and…read morewanted to make this a highlight. Especially since I visited on my birthday, little gift to myself was to travel. Quick run down of the specs of this place. Built for the 1962 World's Fair. Sits at 605 ft high making it at one time the tallest building west of the Mississippi. 138 ft wide, weighting 9,550 short tons. Built to withstand 200 mph winds and 9.0 magnitude earthquake. Start by buying your ticket ahead of time. You can pick a time to have your tour, but in all honesty, I think you can show up whenever. The guy manning the gate looked at my ticket, didn't flinch at the time slot, and told me to head inside and join the line. When you go in the line splits into two. One side you go directly to the elevators up, the other line takes you to the picture area where you can set yourself up for planned photo areas. There is information on the walls to take in as the line can be long and take a while to get through. This, by the way, is all after security. As you near the elevators, be sure to have that ticket handy again. This is where they will scan it and direct you to another line to head up to the top. The elevators are double decker elevators that take you 520 ft up in 41 seconds. Pretty fast ride that you are told by the operator and a short amount of time to ask them any questions. While up here, take all the time you ever want. Once at the top, there really is no set time to descend. You can stay up here all day if you wanted. There is even a place to grab a bite to eat and have a libation. Two levels up top, and honestly, take your time here as both levels have a lot to offer. The one that a lot of people gravitate to is the rotating level. You can literally stand in one spot and see the whole city from just about every possible angle. But, do move around. Be sure to even look down, if you don't have a fear of heights. This room gives you an optical illusion type of effect. Even if you are not on the moving portion of the floor, it still feels like you are moving. Then make your way up a level if you need to use the restroom. If not, continue up another level to the non-moving observation deck. You can do this floor two different ways. If heights and observation decks are not your thing, stay inside and take in the views. But if you are alright with the height, head outside and push through the crowds. Unlike the floor below, you will have to personally rotate the circle. Once done with your viewing of Seattle and surrounding areas, time to head back down. You can catch the elevator on either one of the floors up here. Best bet is to wait upstairs on the non-moving part, you won't have as long of a line up there, nor will you have people cutting line because they think they are more important than you. Quick 41 second ride and you are back on solid ground. Be sure to take in the gift shop area. Check out the Lego Space Needle, in fact check it out while you are in line. The details of this is amazing and in the original colors when this opened. Spy Batman on here if you can. Not bad. Review 4,500 in the books. Many more to come.

We loved the outside portion, the spinning floor area, the ability to get drinks and great photo ops everywhere! We were there for hours and almost waited mail the evening hours just to attempt to watch the sun setting but we didn't stay as long. Still just as enjoyable and totally worth every penny. The movie was a cool touch also! The could benefit from having better food options as they had very very limited snacks and no meals.

Hadley Memorial Bridge offers a great view of Lake Washington as you run 1.1 miles each way back and forth from the park to Mercer Island. There is a bicycle and pedestrian path on the north side which I was on. It's a good 2.2 mile run that is easily turned into a 5K running the extra around the picturesque park back on the Seattle side. This is actually a floating pontoon bridge opened on 1989. Pretty cool engineering feat. One of the widest floating bridges in the world.

In short Well, you have to think of a cemetery as a place…read moreyou can visit and pass some time, but, if you have that in you, it's a very powerful remembrance of 2 remarkable sons of Seattle. In long This place is where the founders and scions of Seattle have been laid to rest. It's prime real estate, with spectacular views of the lake and a beautiful park (and impressive art museum) on the other side. It's open to the public. It's the appropriate place for Lee Jun-Fan to find his rest, since he very much put Seattle on the map for a certain generation of film fans. That happened before my time, but a lot of us still idolized him when we came along--tons of my friends and I, to say the least. After I got a little older and moved up the freeway to Seattle for school, a couple more years passed and gradually I heard about the park and after Brandon Lee passed, I heard about their gravesite. Back in the day, I didn't see the inscription on Brandon's stone until I sat in front of it. There was no public internet offering spoilers like that. So I can't guarantee that it'll hit you the way it hit me, but it does what a marker like this ought to do. It reminds you to live your life well, because it is not limitless. Take it from 2 great sons of Seattle who did a lot and barely made it through 3 decades of life, dying in senseless and preventable ways. It can't rain all the time.

Berlin Wall Marker [Seattle WA]…read more Headed down Troll Avenue and right around the corner from the Fremont Troll is a chunk of concrete... but not just a chunk of concrete but a piece of history. Located under the Aurora Bridge (aka WA-99) and next to Cafe Turko is a priceless narrow piece of wall from the Berlin Wall. There is an inscription next to the slab of wall. It was placed there to commemorate the role of Boeing/Seattle in the 1948 Berlin Airlift... but wait, wasn't the Berlin Wall built in 1961? The piece arrived in Fremont in 2001. Review #3619

I totally forgot about this novel and unique piece of Public Art! I should have visited it when I saw the Troll and the blue Fremont Bridge yesterday... darn! Anyway... I parked across the street and got a good shot of this directional sign! As I drew closer, I saw places on the sign that I would like to see - such as Machu Piccu and Rio de Janeiro.
