I am an amateur when it comes to carpentry and home renovation, but I have a generalized knowledge of woodworking tools and various basic materials. My goal was to revamp an old porch. I walked nervously in their door, with a picture of the old porch on my iPhone and a few rough measurements scribbled on a piece of paper. Immediately, Kathy and Kate put me at ease, and walked me through my design plans. Along the way, Kate thoughtfully listened to my needs, and carefully recommended different ways I could improve my design, without criticism or judgement. All her ideas proved to be excellent, and I'm so grateful for her advice. Over the course of the next two weeks, I would return many times for extra lumber as my plans evolved. Every time, I was warmly greeted, and immediately and thoughtfully accommodated. I am very grateful to the gentlemen in the back who helped fit many an odd long board in my dad's Camry, and to the one kind employee who, on an especially hot day, offered me a popsicle while I was waiting for something to be cut. Overall, my experience was over and above excellent, and with their help, I managed to build the new porch by myself in only 2 weeks! Our salesperson did not inform when delivery times would be - the first came at 6 AM. We were not awake and the driver is texting to us. Unpleasant. The salesperson did not proactively notify of when successive deliveries would be made nor did they apologize for our many inconveniences over a week's time. This includes holding up the start of the job by our contractor. No apologies, no offer of a credit - a very rough ordeal for trying to patronize a local merchant. Maybe contractors are served better than retail residents?

I didn't even notice it until Mona pointed it out! So after I jumped into the bold (fantasy brown) and left the classic humdrum (carrera) behind, enter John and his team of installers. While templating, John even gave me suggestions on my choice of brackets for the floating counter. During the install day, the crew was friendly, professional, and quick! Ran into a problem: they didn't have any remnants in that color, and I'd have to purchase a whole slab just to match a little section. Mona came to the rescue! And since the new section was to be installed across from the old one (not contiguous), it would be very hard to tell. Sure enough, it worked out perfectly and Mona saved me a lot of money by finding a creative solution. Just like last time, I was doing this long distance without seeing anything in person. With contractors there is always drama or miscommunications, especially if you are not there to supervise. Not with Mona.
