One of my 2 favourite go to pet stores. The owner and staff are always so friendly and helpful. They have probably the largest variety of dog foods and treats of any of the pet stores I've been to in Toronto, and of course the usual essentials for dogs as well. The owner in particular goes out of her way to help if you have a question or a concern about your dog (or other pet I assume), and she always offers treats for my dog when I bring him in, he loves it there and remembers it on our walks trying to bee line there all the time. read more

I took my new puppy to the Renfoth location to get her a new harness and he was a little rough putting the harness on her. She had a little accident in the store. The guy running the place wasn't to pleased about it. She's a puppy! Puppies have accident all the time when they're nervous. He didn't have to be a big jerk about it.I'm never going there again. read more

A very nice pet store on the tip of the Annex neighborhood. We went for their customers appreciation sale where everything was marked down around 20%. They also handed us three seperate dog gifts when we left. Our pooch was pleased. read more

The experience shopping from Global pet food was terrible. I ordered curbside pickup through online. Then I got a email notice me that due to the Covid-19 I have to wait in my car when arrive and the pet care specialist will place my order in my truck. But when I arrive at Global pet food waiting for my order with open truck the lady stand in the store did not want to come out looking straight at my car. So I had to walk to the store pick up my own order that the lady had left on the table. When I get home open my order I notice that the Edible Elixir for my cat had expired on 2020 December. I call the store and the lady said I have to drive back to get a new one without any apologizes. I told her I live really far away It costs more for me to drive there so I would like a refund. But the lady told me she can't do anything if I don't return the product. She said she need a evidence. I told her I can sent her picture and they must have record about the product they have sold. It obviously was the their responsibility didn't check the expiration date carefully and didn't follow the social distance rule. Later I call the customer service and they said I have to call the store because they are not responsible for it. I wonder what are customer service responsible for? I am very regret that I choose to buy from global pet food. I always buy from pet smart and never had this problem and the service is a lot better. read more

Great downtown Cochrane location, unfortunately poor customer service when it comes to standing by products they sell in their store. Staff are quasi-knowledgeable, obviously trained to get the sale done. The store owner is only interested in the sale of the product and not the quality of the product. Prices are marked-up from online prices. To the owner: one refund lost = more sales lost!! Poor way to run a business. read more

I completely stopped shopping here more than a year and a half ago. Why? A combination of terrible customer service and finding better staff, service, and prices at other Global Pet Foods and Pet Valus. From talking to others about my experiences at this store, I have found that they have quite the reputation for abrasive attitudes and pushy service. The final straw for me was going there to get a tag made for a friend's cat. I had already stopped purchasing food/litter and really just went, because they offered same day turn-around on the tag, and I didn't want to drive across town. I went in around 11am, chose a tag, and placed my order that included my friend's phone number and email address. At 2pm they called to say the tag was ready, which was pretty fast. I passed by within the hour to pick it up. When I got there and went up to the counter, I was completely ignored for the first 30secs while all 3 employees, chatted away like I didn't exist. As a side note, I really don't care about staff having personal conversations in stores that I shop in, but they need to cut it the hell out when a customer approaches and needs assistance. You are being paid to help people! When one of them finally noticed me standing right in front of them she asked what I wanted, in a tone that suggested she did not recognize me from 3 hours earlier when I was there placing the order. Didn't they just call me to have me come pick up this tag? Was I in some kind of bizarro world? They were all present when I placed the order and when I went to pick it up, so it's pretty clear they are just going through the motions when serving most customers and barely pay attention to who's who or what's what. I told them I was there for the tag and one of them started looking around, calling out all kinds of wrong pet names before finding it. When I looked it over there was a blatant error on it. My friend's email address was spelled "@gamil.com" instead of gmail. It really doesn't take a genius to notice gmail was incorrect without even seeing the form they had me fill out. It took me 2secs to find the error on the tag, but it's a 15mins drive to get to this store for me. They could have saved me a 30min trip, if just one of them had looked it over before calling me! Needless to say, I had to return the following day to pick up a new tag, but it was my last time there. And no, they didn't offer any discount or apology for their mistake or wasting my time. Over the years, the women at this store have chatted over me to other customers while ringing up my purchases, fought me over granting Air Miles promotions, and been super rude to my handicapped father at one point when he came in to make a purchase with me and had a few questions. This is all while I gave their business thousands of dollars. I also had to put up with unsolicited pseudo-veterinary diet advice from the blonde woman. But the worst was having to endure conversations while checking out between her and dog owners, who seemed like they were just coming in to say 'Hi' and had no issue with interrupting the line-up of customers to chat, effectively delaying everyone. I even heard this staff woman encouraging customers to breed their dogs, which is just disgusting. Shelters all across North America are brimming with adoptable dogs and cats that can't and WON'T find homes. They will be euthanized and their bodies will end up at the low end pet food manufacturers, livestock feedlots or the landfill and people who breed pets as 'hobby' are 100% to blame for this. Why not work with a dog rescue, if you really love dogs? Dog breeding is sick. Either way, I now give my money to pet food stores that support rescued animals and know how to treat their customers with respect and appreciation. I'll leave the overheard advice about dog semen collection to the poor people who still shop here. read more

Your friendly neighbourhood Global Pet Foods. The girls in here are really knowledgeable and you can tell they love animals. You can get all your premium bran pet foods and litter. They also have a good selection of toys and bowls. Recently they expanded and there's a whole section of the store dedicated to cats. Yay! I guess the only issue is the narrow aisles (I seem to always knock things over) and lack of parking. If I'm lucky I"ll get something in the back at the convenience store. Otherwise, I am jumping in an out of my car with the blinkers on. They also have great promos for brand loyalty and sales. read more

This is a great location for a really lovely neighbourhood pet store. Good selection of pet food, toys, treats, accessories (no real dog clothing section though) and grooming/medical supplies. It's impossible to leave here with only what you came for! The prices here aren't the best in town, but are better than downtown or Yorkville! They will special-order anything you need that isn't in stock, and there is a loyalty program for buying food here, which is always nice. Every time I shop here, I leave with at least two or three free product samples as well, which Malik loves and I appreciate greatly. The girls that work here love Malik and coo and fawn all over her every time we come. I have to say, I love it... and Malik doesn't mind either! Some of the friendliest staff in town, and they are always ready to give advice or share their own experiences (or those of other customers) with a certain brand or a particular issue. Street parking is available around the corner on St. George Street, which is extremely convenient! read more

This store is where I go for all of my dogs needs. They have a wonderful selection of healthy foods and treats. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, with the exception of the manager. I agree with the other Yelper who said she gives "veterinary advice." She told me my dog would have to be crated forever (she has since received proper training and all issues have been resolved) and she's not very friendly. I've been to many pet stores over the course of 5 years I've had my dog. This place absolutely rocks in terms of selection, price and knowledgeable staff. Incompetent staff member!! If you are not able to count money, and need the assistance of your co-worker to do your job, then take on different duties my gosh. Where do I start. Before it was my turn I witnessed the same cashier tell a customer he "didn't know" when asked about where to find a product. Fair enough, he Isn't a member of the floor staff of which this store has a few. But he asked the other cashier, who had a line bigger than a Great Dane, which is why I was in his line. She helped him and went back to her job like it was nothing. Then came my turn. My purchase was $130.00 I give him 120.00 in twenties and a ten he only counts 90.00 after me insisting he has counted it wrong I finally convince him to count again which he does, and is wrong again. Finally he gets frustrated and calls on the other cashier to count it, which she does and agrees. It is after all fundamental math (20 X 6=120.00 + 10.00 X 1=10) you get where I am going. read more

Went here for the first time this weekend. There was large selection of food, toys, litter etc but I would say that they really sell the more expensive brands, especially for the cat food. I wish they would include just a few of the cheapest options for those of us who aren't walking over from Yorkville. The male staff member who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable and it was overall a great experience. I also really liked the organization and feel of the store. I think that we will definitely come back for litter and toys but maybe will continue to get our cat food from the grocery store. read more

I always end up here when everyone else has run out of the pet food I buy. They carry deep stock and a large selection of various types of food and supplies. It's part of the Global chain but is run better than most and you can actually get someone to help you when you need it. Parking can be a challenge so don't expect to get a spot nearby. read more

I love Global Pet Foods - this location, and every location I've been to. Staff are knowledgable, friendly, and prices are reasonable for the high quality products they sell. I find the selection is always so great, and a bit surprising given how small the stores are. I've never been disappointed with this chain, the Dupont location or elsewhere! They have a program at Global where you buy 12 bags of dog food and get the next free, which I really appreciate (they're also the only place that sells my dog's brand of food). I like that I can collect Air Miles here, as well. read more

I can't speak for the prices as I have nothing to compare them to. However, prices are only a small part of the Global Pet Foods experience at this location and well worth whatever the differential is compared to another store. I've never had a kitten before and regularly come in here, laden with anxiety, asking what I should or shouldn't do. Every staff member is extremely friendly and when asked, offer useful and most importantly, honest advice about foods, toys, treats, etc. Each of these employees has at least one pet and everyone speaks from experience as he/she earnestly tells you his/her opinions. I spent a good half an hour there once just gleaning advice from the staff and they were more than happy to give it. Furthermore, when a store employee recommends that I go elsewhere to find a better type of toy for my pet (one that happens to be sold as a child's toy, for example), I know I'm dealing with people who care more about the animals than pushing products. And that is why I will always come back to this place to purchase my pet food/accessories. They will also, as one other person mentioned here, place special orders if you need something that is not in stock. In short: wonderful people, wonderful service! read more

This place is the best - my two little dachshunds run all the way to the store once we turn right out of our apartment. The staff is amazing - not only do they fuss over the biys, they spoil them with treats. All our dry food is special order and it's ALWAYS there for us when we come in. Everyone here is lovely and gives treats to children and the animals. I pay a reasonable price for my guinea pig kibble here, a lot cheaper than other pet stores for the same brand. I don't use the brand of shavings they carry and their usually aren't large bags of hay, but for pellets it's where I go! read more

Like other reviewers I don't have much to compare the store to in terms of price, but the customer service is fantastic. I called this morning to see if they had Easy Walk harnesses in; the woman on the phone said they do, but suggested I bring my dog in so they can find the right size. When I did, she was amazingly helpful! She not only made sure to find the right size, but then suggested (and sized, and explained, and demonstrated) a different harness that would fit my dog better because if how his body was built. In the end, she could have just handed me the not-quite-right harness and gotten my money, but she went the extra steps to ensure my dog had the best walking experience possible. I'm definitely making this my neighbourhood store! read more

Love this store. Densely packed with a great selections of toys, high quality foods (including Orijen which we love) etc. I also appreciate that staff is usually willing to order in items that they don't carry. Only complaint is there really isn't store parking, which I guess is just fine as most patrons live in the annex, but not so great when you are buying 20lb bags of litter, dog and cat food, and live on st Clair. read more
