For years I've wanted to restore my antique bookcases. They are over one hundred years old, and as…read morea writer I treasure a good place to keep my collection of good books. I was apprehensive with who might be able to do justice and not ruin them. I took a shot with GKH furniture repair and restoration. I'd seen the reviews, and I now can say the reviews weren't exaggerated. When I first called Greg last November he was honest about the time fragment it would take. I unfortunately called during the holidays, which was not good. I later called in March, amd he told me then, sort of leveling with me that this sort of work takes time, like 4-6 months. It wasn't a bad wait and I was patient. The saying goes, "all good things come to those who wait," and it's true if you want a master to handle your antiques. I've sanded, stained wood before, and it's no easy task. It's a time-consuming endeavor, and I also didn't trust myself restoring antique bookcases. In retrospect the price was reasonable for the result. I now have an admirable place to keep my Ulysses, and restored bookcases my ancestors would be proud of.

I am blessed to have inherited my maternal grandmother's birch table and her six oak chairs. All…read moreare at least 100 years old. They were heavily used since my grandma had 11 children and for extra money, she'd serve threshing crews at this table. The chairs were in terrible condition from wear and tear and a Rottweiler that chose to cut his teeth on the chair rungs. Greg Havenot, owner and master furniture repair guru, worked MIRACLES on the six chairs! Rebuilding chair legs that were split in two and held together with screws. I regret NOT taking before and after pictures, because words cannot describe the difficulty in the repair process. But they are sound now and look fanTAStic! We also challenged Greg and his son Damien with an antique upholstered rocking chair I inherited from my paternal grandmother. Greg explained it was stuffed with horse hair! And the cushioning was nearly nonexistent. Now, it's back to its old (pun intended) self! We are able to sit and rock on. Do not hesitate to have this gifted pro renovate your furniture. From dust catcher back to its intended purpose! A dollar value for these much needed repairs was difficult for me to anticipate. But the quality of the workmanship exceeds my expectations. How does one assess priceless gifts from our ancestors? As an aside, Greg and Damien are wonderful people. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Their painters are NOT experienced nor skilled. * They damaged 2 new windows that Cornerstone window company had to fix. * They put holes in 2 window screens that had to be rescreened. The painter installing the first screen was forcing it causing it to bow out. * Stuff painted that should've have been covered and areas not painted that should've been. * Paint runs/drips I will have to sand and repaint because their painter couldn't fix it. * Caulked over old caulking in one area and used 2 different colors of caulk. * Damaged my 1 yr. old garage door opener due to paint being stuck/dried to garage door. * Damaged my inside living room wall when they installed siding. * 6 months later paint is coming off one of my gutters. The leftover paint that's given to you when they're done painting, contained; leaves and gnats from letting it sit uncovered all day and found a used paint roller left in the paint can. I told Robert (project manager) that I didn't want the guy who damaging my windows and didn't say anything to anyone to return to my house. Robert ignored my demand saying they couldn't do that and brought him back. When I pointed stuff wrong out to Robert his response was "Are you sure it wasn't like that before". I asked for a discount due to all the problems and poor workmanship and Robert said "No, the owner doesn't do that". I can send pics if you want to verify this review. Signed, S. Julo

Update: Now giving them 3 stars (would do 3.5 if it were an option) since they finally came out and…read moremade it right. I still shouldn't have had to fight with them to get the job done right and promises were made by the estimator that caused more issues than we're ever necessary (I'm told he's no longer with them and had no business making those promises). Keeping the original review for other's to reference: Had I not had the time to stand there supervising for 3 days, the job would have been done even worse. The project manager (Rob) was fine with just spraying the house once (leaving patchy/blotchy spot ALL over the front). I had to argue and even get our contract out to get them to roll the paint on like I was guaranteed (and was in the contact). I was also told by the estimator (Kyle) that they would be able to replace specific boards (again, in the contract). Not until said boards we're all ripped off the house did anyone tell me that they don't make that type of board anymore. They found a work-around that isn't too noticeable, but that's not what I signed and put money down for. Now, less then a year and a half later, I'm noticing that they never removed the old caulking, just painted over it, so now paint is peeling from the house/windows, right before winter.

I don't like leaving reviews in general and really hesitate to leave a bad one. I figure anyone can…read morehave a bad day, etc. But I had a really unprofessional experience with this business. Without going into detail, he became angry when I had questions, and hung up on me. (I was not angry-ironically was preparing to tell him a friend had recommended him and schedule.) I called back and left a message that I found his behavior unprofessional and I was leaving a bad review. (I wasn't out to blindside him online-not trying to tank his business- but I wanted him to know this was REALLY not okay. I guess I hoped it wouldn't happen to someone else.) I should have known better. I received three texts personally insulting me, my contractor, etc. etc. from him. Clearly not a good fit and will not be working together so I almost didn't do a review. I can't review the work quality. But I thought a heads up may be appropriate in case this happens again. Sometimes it is hard to find a good fit. Hopefully it was just him having a bad day but...I think it is weird that I have to block someone with whom I had a pretty short phone call. (Technically two short calls. I had talked to him briefly the week before to get information then conferred with my husband before calling back to hire him.)

First, I apologize for not writing this review at the time the work was done, but I AM writing it…read morenow! We bought my husband's old family home to be our forever/retirement home in 2018. The house was built in 1954-55. Prior to our purchase of the house, it had received a new roof, new triple pane double hung windows, some electrical work and a bathroom remodel, due to old plumbing issues. That remodel left the 1954-55 era bathtub in place, with a couple of gnarly, rusting gashes in it's original finish. When I saw the sad looking tub in the newly refreshed bathroom, I was unhappy. We started researching refinishing companies, deciding on All America Fine Finishes. When Ken and his assistant worked their magic on our tub, it was PERFECT! The tub looked brand new! It GLEAMED! It has been over 4 years since the work was done and the tub still gleams. I thought that very thing when I was giving the tub its cleaning the other day, thinking then, I should write this review. AND, another thought to add...Ken is a caulking magician!! I would love to learn how to lay down a line of caulking as seamless and smooth as this man can do!! AWESOME!
