Unfortunately, after a week, I was told the jacket was severely damaged from their efforts. These things happen, but I was extremely impressed with their customer service. They allowed us to choose between a generous credit for future cleaning services or the replacement cost of the jacket. We chose the latter, which they were willing to do, even though we didn't have the original sales receipt. We just did the best estimate we could for its price and they were okay with that. Cleaners / Alterations…read more Looking for a place close to Abacoa to drop my shirts for laundering, I came across the Abacoa Hometown Cleaners. There are essentially two halves to the business:  the laundry side and the alterations side. The laundry side is pretty much what you would expect: shirts (in my case primarily) are dropped and you get them cleaned and returned in a few days all pressed and on a hanger.  They are a full service operation and can also clean any other garments you have. Also needing pants hemmed, I have used their alterations side a few times now.  Same process: bring in the item, they measure you up and you get your garments back in a few days. The ladies working there are always friendly and the garments come back clean or altered correctly. Prices are average for this type of service. Overall a quick and efficient process. Although the waist size itself was reduced, the way it was done was simply by folding and sewing the waistband, which created a noticeable bump right on my hip bone and made the jeans uncomfortable to wear. Because of this, I had to bring the jeans back to be redone. When I returned, the lady at the counter insisted that I had not paid for the service, even though I had already paid $59.12 for the jeans alterations. I had to search through my credit card charges to prove that the payment had already been made. Unfortunately, the top also had to be redone because the straps were not adjusted properly the first time. Throughout the process, I felt that my concerns were not really listened to. What was most upsetting was being spoken to very aggressively and even yelled at in front of my child while trying to resolve the situation. I understand that mistakes can happen, but the quality of the work and the way the situation was handled left me very disappointed.

They recently cleaned all of my down pillows and duvet and fluffed them too for me and they look so much better. La Mer Dry Cleaners also has been able to get things done quickly for me which is truly appreciated. They have only shown me honesty, transparency, and true customer service. I have never had an issue with them and I work in luxury retail so I can truly say that with integrity, Rachel and La Mer Dry Cleaners has me as a lifetime client.

In this last visit, I needed a pair of pants hemmed and they were able to accomplish the task with no fuss or dely. The time quoted for completion was when the pants were ready and the job was done exactly as requested. The price for a pair of pants to be hemmed was, unfortunately, high but that is also the norm everywhere you call for alterations. $16 in my case so just be aware that the cost to alter might be on par with the cost of a new pair of jeans ($22). Update to My Previous Review…read more This is an update to my original review. Adding insult to injury, the owner's public response confirmed exactly why I chose not to return. Rather than acknowledging that customers can have legitimate concerns, his response was dismissive, defensive, and, in my opinion, unnecessarily demeaning. To address one point specifically: the owner states they "certainly cannot shrink a shirt because we do not put shirts in a dryer." That completely misses what I described. My shirts came back uneven after cleaning and pressing, with one side noticeably shorter than the other. Garments can become distorted during the dry-cleaning and finishing process through heat, chemicals, pressing, or handling--not just by being put in a dryer. The issue wasn't simply "shrinkage"; it was that the shirts no longer fit or hung correctly after being serviced. Instead of considering that something may have gone wrong, the owner chose to suggest that I was mistaken or confusing his business with another cleaner. That response speaks volumes about how customer concerns are handled. No business is perfect. Mistakes happen. What separates great businesses from average ones is how they respond when a customer raises a concern. A simple acknowledgment or willingness to investigate would have gone much further than attempting to discredit my experience. With so many excellent dry cleaners in the area, customer service matters as much as the quality of the cleaning. Based on both my experience and the owner's response, I cannot recommend this business.
