I had the best time at Gloias with friends! There was a slight wait, but it was totally worth it once that food hit the table. I ordered the Chimichanga plate--deep-fried flour tortilla stuffed with your choice of meat and cheese, smothered in cheese sauce, and served with rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and guac. My only complaint? I wish it included two chimichangas because it was just that good. Stopped by while waiting for my tires to be swapped at the nearby Discount Tire. Ordered the horchata and enchiladas verdes so I could try their rice and beans. Overall, I was disappointed. The atmosphere and service was great, however the quality of the food was generally low. The complimentary basket of chips with salsa was not finished since the salsa itself lacked flavor. The horchata was clearly not homemade, but was still good as it was sweet. The real source of disappointment came with the main dish. At a glance, I could see neither the rice nor the beans was fresh. A forkful of both confirmed it. The enchiladas themselves were a bit better, as the chicken inside had a great flavor and the salsa offered a nice spike of acidity. But overall the flavors in the meal fell flat. Today 5/11/26 I was enjoying my 2 tacos when I noticed that I was trying to chew on a "1.5 inch long thin wire" inside the the Pork taco that was mistakenly in my food. When I first ordered, I did tell the waitress that this is my first time here and I usually don't eat Mexican American food and wanted to try out this restaurant. I was surprised and confused why this waitress did not want to hear or deal with this object in my food and my concern. I pleasantly told her that I first thought I was chewing on a hard object or a missing tooth. I had to inspect more, thus to my shock, I pulled out this 1,5 inch wire ( I took a picture of it). I asked if she could inform the cooks and also asked if the cooks could inspect the pork. She did not want to do so and ignored me over and over again. Why I am writing this report, is because the waitress didn't want to hear my concerns nor wanted to contact the manager and cooks since there was no manager in the store. She tried ignoring my concern and felt bothered. Upon my request, she tried calling the manager on the phone and no one answered the call. I was pleasant in my interaction and request throughout voicing my conversation the entire time. I could have eaten this wire which could have gotten stuck in my GI track and could have punctured my insides. A future ER visit would have been necessary ( I am a GI RN). She did not recognize how important my request was to notify the manager nor did she even attempt to inform the cooks of this problem. I asked her again to call the manager a second time, in which he finally picked up. I could hardly hear him on the phone. He did not seem concerned nor did he apologize. This entire time the waitress felt bothered and didn't care that my food was contaminated and possibly could have poked a hole in my GI tract. She didn't want to be bothered and her body language showed that she did not want to help me out. After speaking with the manager on the phone and having a pleasant communication with this waitress and manager, my experience turned ugly when I was leaving the restaurant. A man who was in the corner of the restaurant had the audacity to confront me and verbally attack me while I was walking out of the restaurant stating that I was rude to the waitress. Not only did my conversation with the waitress was pleasant and the waitress was feeling uncomfortable because she didn't want to be bothered with the wire in the food, he assumed the worst! He was in the corner of the room and had no idea what the conversation was about. All he saw was the waitress trying not to tackle my concern. He verbally assaulted me when I was walking out of the restaurant assuming the worst. I would not have reported here on Yelp, if it wasn't for this middle aged rude man come at me viciously attacking me. I would have not written this otherwise. These waitresses should be more educated and concerned when a wire object could have injured me. The waitress did not want to be bothered. Any other restaurant manager and serving staff would have seriously taken my concern to heart. How safe are restaurants when they don't care about the customers? I wanted to love this place and find good authentic Mexican food. I think their tacos are very good (carne asada on corn). Some of their other offerings (eg gorditas) are more ehhh. Which is fine. I would gladly come just for tacos. So it's like a 3.8 for food, but two things make me round down to call it a 2. First, I don't like that they don't give free soda refills - I think that's lame. Second, ordered a flan to go which was was literally 8 days old and they served it. On the plus side they quickly took it back and removed it from the bill, but from a quality control perspective. The place has a nice, casual vibe and it's a great place for individuals, families and groups. I started with my favorite drink, Michelada and I was not disappointed. It's difficult to find a good tasting michelada, but they did a good job. I was glad to see that they had an entire section for vegetarian items on the menu. I tried their two vegetarian tacos and I really liked them both. I liked the different toppings on both tacos and the flavors. However, they were a bit smaller than I expected. We decided to share a burrito con salsa mole and enchiladas verdes. Our order was ready for pick up very quickly. When I arrived, there were quite a few folks dining inside. The space is brightly decorated with colorful murals on the walls and the family members were busy serving. Once home, we split the two selections and added a few slices of avocado as an accent. Both the burrito and the enchiladas were excellent. The mole and the salsa verde were super flavorful with a slight kick of spice. Portions were generous and prices were good. I ordered pick-up through Yelp and it was a smooth process. The food turned out really well. Enchiladas were so delicious I highly recommend it. I was pleasantly surprised because it's Madison. I'm from TX and it's hard to find decent Tacos and rice that remind me of home sweet home. The restaurant itself was smaller than I expected and there is a bar. I love a Jamaica drink with my chicken molé, and my partner has decided he needs to work his way through all the campechano dishes on the menu before he can pick a favorite. More seasoning, more careful preparation, better balance of toppings (my burrito was wet and bland overall, but the ingredients are fresh) would go a long way. Gloria's is a great, cozy spot with a variety of margaritas and wonderful food options. I've been here a few times now, the first time I just went to grab a drink while I waited for some food to go. I sat at the bar and drank my margaritas, they were delicious! I just get the plain old house lime margarita, nothing fancy, and it is always delicious. I'm often hesitant to get a frozen margarita at a lot of places, because usually the bottom 25% of it is mostly flavorless ice... not here! The frozen was good till the last sip! I've also had their margaritas non-frozen, equally delightful. Every time I come I have ordered some variation of enchiladas - I always try to branch out but I just can't help sticking to what I love! I've had meat-less enchiladas and their chicken enchiladas, and consistently never leave any of it left on the plate. Whether I sit at the bar or get a table, the staff is always very kind and attentive. There is a large parking lot off of Junction Road, and while it can get a bit packed during rush hour, I've consistently been able to find a place to park. I would definitely check Gloria's out next time you're in need of a Mexican food fix. read more

We decided to switch up our regular orders are tried their birria tacos and YUMMM. The tacos were so flavorful and juicy. My fiancé and I had to fight over them. The birria tacos are only served on friday nights but we'll worth it. I then tried the shrimp dish pictured and wow also so so delicious. It was on the spicier side, but I love spicy. Yes, there are a couple places that are around, but, those places just barely hit the spot. I was THRILLED to see Gloria's open up and was even more excited to try it. The restaurant is a small, cozy, and simple atmosphere. There is a full bar with seating. I was instructed to sit wherever I'd like. Even though there was just one waitress, service was overall quick and polite. The drinks menu includes a combination of beers, wines, and cocktails. I didnt expect so many options considering the size of the restaurant. To sweeten the deal, many of the cocktails were classic combinations with no premade mixers. I enjoyed a luxury margaritia, which was a classic margarita with some agava nectar, using top shelf liquors. Perfecty mixed and served with salt on the rim. Chips and salsa will come to the table without request. Food is fresh made to order - an issue that I identified in many Mexican restaurants in Madison. I ordered the Carne Asada a la Tampiquena. In otherwords, skirt steak with an enchilada. It also came with a little chorizo, rice, beans, guacomple, and pico do gallo. All flavors were spot on and the food was served out. The verde sauce on the enchilada was bold and accurate. The flavors and quality were on point. The only consistent issue I've identified is that they have flan only half of the time that I come.
