Was just in with two friends about 20 minutes ago. Ordered from the menu but was told no cocktails. Ordered something else and then the bartender just refused us. Said they were closing down. At 12:30. Because two of us were brown and he was a tall white older man in a baseball cap (mentioning his hat as a descriptor so maybe the owners would know who is ruining their bar...)...??? Excellent beer selection. I like going to a place where they have things I haven't seen or tried before and this place had a lot. The service came across as disinterested...like "Gosh, do I have to actually give you a beer when it's almost completely empty in here and walking from where I'm leaning against the bar to where you are sitting is the most exhausing thing ever". This is becoming one of my favorite spots in Clinton Hill. Always a warm and super cozy atmosphere especially when it's been a cold, rainy day. They're the sister bar of some of my favorites, including Mission Dolores, Owl Farm, and Bar Great Harry. As expected, they have a great beer selection - both drafts and bottles (some of which are on the rarer side and expensive). A lot of local crafts as well as mostly east coast breweries. There's a lot of seating, but also a bunch of large groups on a Friday night. We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar. Wish they had food, but they're BYOF friendly. Pretty solid bar, though I like the vibes at Mission Dolores and Owl Farm more. read more

All of my friends were running on "Hispanic Time" when I was trying to figure out how to kill time before the last Yelp Brooklyn event the other week and noticed this place after hopping off the train and the limited amount of reviews for it so far. It's nice and cozy and homey inside though with a lot of Christmas lights strung up. The bathrooms are interesting. . . . all black with white letters scrawled on the walls reminding you to 'flush', 'wash your hands', 'turn off the lights', 'go out the door', etc. The happy hour I think is a $1 off pretty much everything on their draft list. It's co-owned by the same people that own Mission Dolores actually in Park Slope. The beer list is quite extensive and I asked to try a sample of the "Carton Something Like Sandy", brewed in aged barrels for over 2 years with an over-fermentation because of the hurricane in the Atlantic Highlands. It's slightly sour in not a completely aesthetic way and so I went with the Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout. Though, the guy next to me seemed to really enjoy the unique taste. I like how random the selection was though and its an ever-rotating craft list that was clearly carefully picked out. They also have food which I did not sample but have heard fantastic things about. They bring in a variety of sausages from outside Der Kommissar and Brooklyn Artisinal Foods. If in the neighborhood, give it a try. It's very low key. Low key enough that I was able to read "World War Z" inside. Also, they have pinball machines in the back. read more

Ah, how many updates will I do! So some of the bartenders are cool. The crowd is really lackluster. Occasionally there are some cool folks here, but that is definitely not the norm. I once came on a weekend night during prime time, and never again. I will now only come during random week nights or on a weekend for a nightcap at the end of a long night-- ie at like 2am. So here I am on a Sunday night, and the usual guy who plays the soulful sounds is not here. I am the only black person in the pretty crowded bar; there are three people of color total (myself, an Asian man and an Asian woman), and the overall vibes are simply... there are none. It's not a bad thing. It's just pretty basic; I guess this is basic Brooklyn, now in Bedstuy. Three stars for the beers that are ever changing and for the occasional interesting folks that I've chatted up here. I think I'm going to start popping into other bars that are decently close to my apartment and see what the random nights are like at those olaces. That or hop on my bike and hit up my Bedstuy favs for impromptu happy hours. Proximity is not always pleasing. read more

Enjoyed a good but not fantastic cocktail here. The 1-2-3 repeater. GB is very conveniently located for me so I stopped in for a quick drink. I wasn't feeling the vibe though so asked for my bill, the gruff and rough bartender--no verbal responses to anyone, slammed bottles down, used only one hand, maybe she was pissed because she had to work with an injured hand--made me another drink instead. I happily drank it because...well, you know how you start a conversation with someone and then mid convo you're like I don't wanna be in this conversation? You need another one because now you are stuck listening to a sales pitch for the East River. Johns Hopkins my ass. Some lies are little but other lies are telling of a narcissist. So other than the crowd, GB's vibe is ok. The ambience is dark, meant for friends, hipster-ish. But I definitely didn't feel that this is a place for lingering. I am a local and went here tonight. Nice cozy bar where the music isn't too load. If they lost that giant tv in the back (w/motion smoothing turned on) it would be perfect. The low rating is due to them charging 16% of my bill for using a credit card. I was w/friends and had a good time and didn't want to make a fuss, so I just paid it. They said there would be no tax if I paid cash. That can't be legal. How strange. The bartender, who was certainly nice, just said that's how the management does it. Really good rotating drink selection- beer (taps, cans, bottles), wine, cider, and a few solid cocktails. Beer + shot specials. Dope bartenders. Potato chips if you're hungry. A big TV that sometimes plays sports, sometimes plays movies. Pinball in the back. All in all: it's a good, clean bar staffed by good people. Simple as that. read more

Well hello there fine mistress. I first noticed Glorietta when I was passing by and saw someone imprinting her name on the awning. Now that they're open, and I've had a drink here, I can say it's my new go to bar in the area. Where Doris (not more than a couple blocks from here) once had my heart, it now belongs do Glorietta. Yes, the G-spot, is now my spot... And that's solely because they take cards. And $6 drinks. And the staff is pretty cool. And it's a great atmosphere. And pinball machines. I would give zero stars if possible. Went to the bar on a Sunday night (10/22). Spencer, our bartender, was extremely rude. He took our order, then mid-mix decided to take and fill another order (which included both beer and cocktail). When asked about whether or not he was completing our order, he just said "yep" and continued making the other orders. Once we'd begun drinking our drinks, he then came to our table requesting our signed receipt (the card had already been charged but not yet signed). We decided not to tip Bc of his rudeness. He then, upon seeing no tip, came back to our table, said that he would go ahead and void the charge, snatched out drinks and dumped them out. Before leaving, my boyfriend asked the bartender for an explanation. He claimed that it was bartender etiquette to fill another order, but when asked about the cocktail he responded to the tune of "I run my bar how I want to." I waited a couple of days to post this because I wanted to see whether or not the charge was actually voided. Turns out it wasn't, and I was charged for drinks that the bar tender dumped out. My go to spot in the hood. Think comfy, dimly lit dive bar with a solid, rotating craft beer selection. $5-8 draught beers all broken down on their menu in an approachable way - wine critics take note. $6 beer + shot special gets the job done. Credit cards ARE accepted here ($15 min, no Amex, though), which is a huge plus and a welcome change from other recent bar additions in the neighborhood. They've also got an ATM in the back. I asked for change for the pinball machines and was told they take dollars. Aka it's $1 to play a game of pinball, which is a bit steep. They used to do a sort of pop up food shop thing with local businesses where on certain nights different companies come in and cook the shit out of some good food - now it seems to happen only once or twice a month. They've got one large bathroom that smells like my grandparents basement - brings back a lot of fond memories (maybe that's why I like this place so much?). Solid place all around, though. Not impressed with this bar. The only things it had going for it was the fact that it was beautiful, clean, it had a nice bathroom, and the music wasn't too loud so I could hear people I was talking to.. so it wasn't a dive. But I would have preferred a dive because this bar's diet coke tasted like gasoline. And I sat at the bar for a half an hour before the bartender finally asked me if I wanted to drink. I tried to get his attention several times but it didn't work. And it wasn't even that busy. He just seemed to not be paying attention at all. I did tip him though because I feel like you should always tip the bartender. But there are definitely better bars than this. read more

I've come with a friend, but it's also a solid go-to for a larger group as there are some interesting distractions and a pretty good-sized area for mingling. I dig the lowkey, unpretentious (albeit hipstery-- which stands out like a sore thumb on this block) vibe here-- friendly service, really nice selection of craft beers, good music, large windows looking onto Franklin Ave (prime people watching spot), candles, pinball machines, plenty of seating, interesting poster art, and clean bathrooms (ya, important if you're planning to hunker down for a few drinks). Glorietta currently doesn't serve any food- but fear not, with a Popeye's across the street and a Crown around the corner, bring your own fried chicken and wash it down with your favorite beer. The limited cocktail menu looked promising-- looking forward to trying these on future visits. Only gripes are the $20 credit card minimum and the weak happy hour. read more

In the land of bodegas, dollar stores, and questionable fried chicken, Glorietta Baldy is a welcome addition. The newest bar in the neighborhood also had the weirdest name, but it only adds to the experience. Great beer selection at fair prices. Pinball. Exposed brick. I only really care about two of these things but Glorietta Baldy has all three! The owners have a few other bars under their belt, and they seem to have a winning recipe. You can come for one or seven drinks, because the train is just a few stumbles away. read more

I like this spot. I've never had any issue with the bartending, and even when they're busy, they're very attentive. Despite being a new bar, it feels like it's been there a while and it attracts a generally mellow, unpretentious crowd. Plus, every time I come in they have entirely new beers on tap in a variety of different styles. I like that they serve local, state, national, and a few foreign beers, and that they're offered in different sizes depending on the alcoholic content/flavor profile of the beer. Also, their cocktails are more fairly priced than Doris and it's just so damn low key. The guys responsible for opening this place and BGH just seem to know what they're doing. Bravo! Solid Watering Hole in Southern Bed-Stuy Although this area used to be a dead zone for good bars, that is rapidly changing with the addition of Glorietta Baldy. The decor is pretty sweet (brick, large windows in the front, cool tables) and there are two pinball machines in the back of the bar. I didn't know that ACDC and Metallica pinball machines existed, but GB seems to have found them. In the evening the bar is pretty dimly lit, with candles on each table. The music tends to be on the rock/indie side and is at a volume where you can have a conversation with someone using your indoor voice. When should you come here? I've seen several groups here, but have also seen a few couples gazing into each other's eyes through the candle light. It's a good spot to catch up with some friends in the neighborhood or to grab a drink with someone you're just getting to know. There'a s solid beer selection that changes regularly and they also have a $6 shot/beer special. It's Naragansett and well whiskey (Kentucky Gentleman?) in case you were wondering. Beers range from the $6-8 range, which seems to be the going rate for a craft beer in NYC. My two issues with the bar are (a) the happy hour isn't much of a happy hour and (b) no food, although they say it will serve food in the future. In terms of the happy hour, sorry guys, $1 off a drink is not a happy hour. It's a slightly less expensive hour. Do something like half price pints, discounted well drinks, etc. FYI: Credit Card minimum is $20. read more

For me, walking in the door, I felt like home. That also leads me to believe my idea of home may be more skewed than most. As a regular to their sister bar, The Owl Farm, I may be a bit partial to being hasty with my opinions, but the vibe is right, the beer is nice and the bartenders are as chill as ever. No judgements, all are welcome and the beer list is diverse. Last year, I moved from Park Slope to Bed Stuy, and I was going to miss my favorite restaurants and beer spots, but Glorietta Baldy is like coming home from my first semester at college and sleeping in my old room. Feels the same, smells the same but different. The only reason I give it a 4 is because it's not the Owl Farm... sorry. But still a great addition to the neighborhood it takes residency in. A pretty cool "neighborhood bar" tucked inside of Franklin Street underneath the bridge to the Shuttle train. Their cocktail menu is small; beer is definitely more their thing. I liked the crowd...chill, non-hipsterish, and mature-looking...The bar is dimly lit, which makes for a good, chill date spot. There's also a pinball machine in the back. I'm giving it 4 stars only because it's not a place that I would feel the need to return to, but more so, if I just so happened to be in the neighborhood (i.e. somewhere on Franklin and Fulton streets), I'd definitely drop in... Nice little bar with great beer. Good place to meet a friend for a quick drink that turns into a few more! I had been drinking the falling squirrel IPA and wanted to try another beer but wasn't sure which. The bartender suggested a beer that was super on point and delicious. Great little bar with a nice beer selection and renovated space. Didn't notice anything about a happy hour, which is disappointing. Hopefully, it'll gain more momentum (and a food selection) in the coming months and I can convince my roommates to come with me more often. We went to this bar on Tuesday, dec. 28th. It was one of the worst experience we had in NY. The barman (blad with tattoes) ignored us for a good 20 minutes. The bar wasn't crowded at all AND we were seated at the bar (we were 6 seated at the bar). We tried to make eye contact with him but he would not look at us. We finally decided to wave at him to make ourselves known but even then he did not care. He would just look at us and make us feel invisible. An ass....? A racist? We will never know. read more
