This is a great neighborhood hardware store with a huge variety and very friendly sales people. The store is well organized and items on the shelves are clearly labeled. While there's always a temptation to run to Home Depot to (possibly) save a few dollars this store is much more convenient for a wide variety of items. I've visited several times and it's easy to get in and out quickly. Just one thing to be aware of. This store is below grade next to Bread & Soda and below Theodore's Furniture Store. A nice hardware store with a pretty solid selection of items. If you're in need of cleaning supplies, anything lawn & garden, hardware, or other household needs...chances are they can help. It's also nice that if you need something (ex: I needed more bags of mulch then they had in stock), they'll order it for you and it arrives within a day or two. I recently moved to Glover Park and made the mistake of going to the Home Depot for my initial hardware store visit. Well, my second trip to the hardware store was to Glover Park Hardware and now I know that my Home Depot days are behind me. First off, as you walk through the store, the staff actually come up to you and ask if you have any questions. Then, if you do ask them for help, they will try to assess your needs and recommend the best suited (not most expensive) product. I was trying to replace a lock on my back door and it is a very tricky part to find. However, Teddy (one of the sales staff), gave me his number and told me exactly what information he needed so he could properly order the part for me. So, if you are in the DC area, come and give this hardware store a try. I guarantee that you won't regret it. read more

Very friendly & helpful employees. I've seen a lot of stores use those headset walkie-talkie set-ups (and end up annoying rather than helping me with them), but this store actually trained its employees to properly use the headsets. The second I walk in the door, someone asks me what I need help with, then radios the employee who can help. By the time I reach the counter that handles paint, keys, whatever, they already know why I'm there & are ready to help me. Glover Park Hardware is also very involved in the local community. They support local events, and are the pick-up point for the crop share. The only downside to this store is that they don't always have the seemingly limitless selection you'll find in a big box store. However, I'm not exactly looking to do major home renovation, so I've never been unable to find what I need--and here you can be sure the employees will actually be able to help you. read more

The staff here is so helpful and friendly. They may not know everything off the top of their heads, but they are always friendly with each other and make sure they find an answer for you. If you are looking for cheap home renovations, they have $5 gallons of "Oops" paint- colors that people returned after they were mixed. My first house here was painted only in Oops colors and it was always fun to see what you can find. They usually have plants on sale in the summer outside. He's fun and patient and helps me find all the random things I need. The store is very well-organized and if you can't find something, just ask! Someone is always nearby to help. I appreciate this place so much that I have been known to actually just browse in here...so my only complaint would be that the people here are so helpful they make me feel a little weird when they come to ask me what I am looking for and I have to reply something like "Oh, I'm just looking at the variety of nails you have..." or "No, just dropped by to admire your spatulas..." Cheers to neighborhood hardware stores. It has everything you need and more. Examples from my life: bike tire pump, travel shampoo bottles, any kitchen supplies / appliances you can think of. All in a manageable format that does not resemble a warehouse in the slightest. read more

Glover Park hardware has a 5-star yelp reputation -- and there is a reason. This Ace Hardware is my mecca. Power Tools. Bolts. Duck Tape! But it's not just a heaven for handy men; anyone can walk into this store and the knowledgable team will help you out. I've never been in this shop without encountering 3 or 4 very helpful associates, who have taken me right to the part or tool I needed. And unlike the big box stores, there is rarely much if any line to checkout. I often walk there, but there is parking in the back, a precious commodity for the neighborhood. A very impressive store. You can tell the owner and staff care a whole lot about there customers, and so I'm going to give out 5 stars. read more

Really helpful/knowledgeable people, great stock selection AND they have lumber! Need a 2x4? Don't want to trek out to HD and get crappy service and wait in line for an hour? I recommend this Ace Hardware so often people have asked if I secretly work there. I don't, but I would have super friendly coworkers if I did. Everyone here is so nice and extremely helpful. Ace has everything you need to improve your tiny (or maybe not so tiny) Georgetown home and then some. I've bought table lamps here that look straight out of Pottery Barn. The cleaning products selection is amazing! Fortunately, the prices are so competitive you won't have to think twice about buying that third bottle of Windex. Sometimes I go there just to walk around and pretend that I'm a little kid in a big people toy store. "What does this do?" Their staff will answer all of your questions AND tell you how pretty your hair looks today. Why yes, it DOES do that on its own, thanks! They are happy Alton Browns of DIY home maintenance. Wonderful store -- is the embodiment of what a neighborhood store is supposed to be. They have nearly everything you need, and when you walk in looking for something they are always super helpful. They don't have as wide of a selection on some products as Home Depot does and their prices are on the high-end, but I'm happy to pay a little bit extra for the convenience of having it so close and having staff who are so knowledgeable and helpful. If all hardware stores and local businesses were this good and this well-run big box stores would be the ones forced out of business. read more

I have never in my life written a Yelp Review...but I NEEDED to this time. I went into Ace to buy a shower curtain and shower curtain rod...aka it was a very quick purchase and i was in and out. I was parked directly outside, and while i was in the store, a theft smashed my window and stole 2 purses of mine in my car. I was in shock. A stranger walking by suggested that I ask an ace hardware worker if they could make a make-shift window for me...I thought I would be getting cardboard or something, but No...this worker literally came out and measured my window and made me a temporary plexi-glass window FOR FREE without me even asking him. He was SO nice and really eased my mind after I just had gotten so much stuff stolen and my car was covered with glass. A few workers came out and talked, i swear to god i love ace hardware I have nothing but good things to say about these men and women that work here. Angels from heaven. read more

After recently moving into the neighborhood, we've had a few minor home improvement needs. I went here to find the random odds and ends, and the staff has always been exceptionally attentive. I don't have to do anything but stare wide-eyed for half a second before someone asks how they can assist me. They even have a pet aisle (!), and one employee who saw me standing in it told me to bring my pup by for a treat sometime. My husband had an ambitious project of his own and wasn't very sure of the equipment he needed. After explaining the desired outcome to an employee, he walked out with a few small tools and some priceless verbal guidance. They were spot-on. I actually look forward to trips to the hardware store for the first time in my life. Keep up the strong work! read more

Called looking for a bike lock and the saleswoman knew exactly what kind I needed and even offered to check how many and of what brands they had in stock. When I got there I found everything I needed and was in and out in a hear beat. I've always had pleasant experiences with Ace although I usually go to the one in Tenleytown. This one is a little bit closer though so I think I'll stick to it. read more

This place is spoiling the hell out of me. Every time I go in here I only have to walk about 10-15 steps before a friendly employee pops out of somewhere and asks me if they can help me find whatever it is that I'm looking for. Every... time. Without fail. Yes, normally I'm used to wandering the aisles of a store like this, eventually figuring out where I want to be, or if they have what I need... but seriously, this place can get you out the door in less than five minutes. Probably three, if you were the only one who needed to pay and leave. It usually works out, because I'm dashing in to get something. The one time I wanted to browse a bit, I got asked by a couple different employees if I needed anything, even after being helped with the thing I originally came in for. If I were the sort of person who was annoyed by helpfulness, this probably would have gotten on my nerves. But I'm not, so I liked it. Their customer service is ridiculously good! Oh yes, and they've always had what I needed, be it: tv cable, attachment thingie for tv cable that makes it slip on, rather than screw-on; calculator, wood floor stain-pen (oops!) and most recently, mace. read more

This place has everything you might need. Whatever. The customer service here is OUTSTANDING; they go above and beyond "helpful." Last week, I stopped by for a new step stool and ended up purchasing a large (and heavy) chrome wire shelving unit. My plan was to pay for it and pick it up later with my boyfriend in tow. But the customer service representative who helped me pick it out offered to carry it to the front door of my apartment for me (about a block and a half). I tipped him, but couldn't thank him enough for his kindness. Seriously...just come here, already! read more

My boyfriend and I with our four degrees could not figure out how to get my staple gun to work, so we took it to the hardware store in the hopes of figuring it out or getting a new one. We were offered help at the door (where else does that happen??), and the employee tried to help us and stood there patiently as my boyfriend ripped open two packages to try out other staple guns. None of us could figure out how any of them worked. Then the assistant manager, Neo, came over. Heedless of the desire to make a sale, he took our old staple gun and cheerfully showed us how to load the staples in it. We finished our reupholstery project without spending any more more money or even getting scolded. Glover Park Hardware saves the day yet again! read more

As others have said, friendly and helpful service coupled with access to just about every product you can think of: small appliances, housewares, gardening, keys and locks, craftsman tools - you name it! They answer all of your questions without making you feel like an idiot and work hard to help you find what you actually need (not what they want to sell you). This used to be a hardware shop owned by Ace but a small family came up with the whole Glover Park hardware idea. Not your typical home depot at all. Tons of stuff, some random junk and cool things like power drill sets! I had to get a couple of keys copied and it was quick and cheap. Come here for all your hardware needs! read more

The staff at this Ace hardware were great. Not only were they incredibly friendly, but they also did a great job helping me with my paint needs. They made sure I brought a piece of the stripped paint so that they could color match it, and when I say it turned out perfectly, I mean it! I had my front door touched up with the paint, and it blended in completely. I definitely recommend this location for paint matching! read more

I'm going to keep this short - Glover Park Hardware is conveniently located, and staffed by friendly, helpful people who greet with a smile and proactively look to solve one's problems. A seminal moment was coming in to buy a special screwdriver to fix a pocketknife - rather than selling me one, one of the employees took 15 minutes out of his day to fix it for me - no charge. This is a place that truly understands customer service, and I hope they beat the pants off of Home Depot. read more

This place is basically the anti-Home Depot (which in my opinion is a very good thing). I'm doing a lot of work on my house and probably come here once or twice a week on average and have never had a negative experience. They have a surprising amount of selection and the clerks are always very helpful and friendly. Having this place down the street from my house definitely makes my life easier! read more

Since living in the neighborhood have visited this location on multiple occasions for basic home repair, grill supplies, tie downs, paint, potted plants, and renting equipment. This store is near my office, so I drop in pretty often to pick up things for home repairs or projects. The selection is very good for a store this size, with stuff ranging from simple home improvement items to serious tools and fixtures for professional-level work, and one of the better gardening sections I've seen anywhere in DC. But what really makes this place stand out is the amazing staff. They're quick to offer to help you find something, quick to leave you alone if you're just looking around, and very knowledgeable about the store's inventory if you do have a question. Every staff member I've talked to also seems genuinely friendly and interested in helping, going out of their way to spend extra time looking up an obscure product I'm interested in (rather than just saying "sorry, we don't have that"). All around, one of my favorite places. read more
