Their pistachio baklava is the best I have ever had! I have been meaning to try Glyka Sweets for quite some time and finally did recently. I have seen their products in local grocery stores and recently stopped by their location for some food and sweets of course. I saw a post on social media that they were having a Greek Food Fest. One of the ladies told me they serve gyros every other Friday. I ordered a couple gyros, a pistachio baklava, a walnut baklava, and a sour cherry soda which the lady on the phone highly recommended. This local Greek business is outstanding. Great food and customer service. I want to try more savory items off their menu and of course some sweets. Their products are also sold at local grocery stores if you can't stop by their location off of Andersen Drive.

I was lamenting about not having the Greek festival this year in Novato and my Greek friend told me about this place. I would never have found it on my own. It's in an industrial part of San Rafael where I never go. Luckily GPS got me there. I'm actually not a sweets person so I can't vouch for their specialty sweets at all but I adore spanakopita, moussaka, and pastitsio with all my wanna-be-Mediterranean heart. For $10 a portion (not too big, not too small) you can order a frozen or heated up savory meal and pick it up. I ordered by email, paid via PayPal ahead of time and the owner brought it to my car. I have only had the moussaka so far but it definitely hit the spot. I put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20ish minutes and then devoured it in about five minutes. I'll have the pastitsio for lunch tomorrow with spanakopita. Check it out and let me know what you think!

This little bakery is a total neighborhood gem. If you're in need of some authentic Greek baked items or hard-to-find imported Greek cooking items, like Greek olive oil, this is the place to go in the bay area. They have so many great offerings and, they have several vegan items too! We've been searching for a place like this for sometime and are very happy we've finally found it. As soon as you enter their door, you're hit with wonderful aromas of baked items which is always a good sign of a great experience to come. My tip before you visit, call ahead to secure the items you want as they sell out every day. Yeah, it's that good of a place.

I love supporting local and small businesses, so I knew I would stop in sooner than later. I've been here over a year and it's a rare weekend that I'm not here. They're only open on Saturdays (sometimes Wednesday for pizza nights). You need to follow them on IG to see updates about their schedule or special events and get their link for preordering. But I promise you, everything on this menu that I've tried is absolutely delicious. Every single thing. Craig is incredible at his craft. He's friendly and approachable and all the staff is so caring! It's almost that pop up shop atmosphere and I always feel lucky when he makes extras and I miss the preorder deadline. I promise you, if you're local this will become a stop every weekend. I'm blessed to live so close and there is nothing quite like Ponsford's. Be patient because there is always a line, but if you don't catch preorder, you do need to get there early. It's worth the wait.

There were mixed comments, some saying the place is good, and others saying it's not worth it and the owner is rude. I wanted to help, so I went to go check it out and see what I could buy. The owner was very rude and very short with me. In reading other reviews on YELP (in addition to Nextdoor), I see that sometimes she's very friendly, and to some other people she just randomly decides to be absolutely cold and unwelcoming. Despite my being cheerful and friendly upon entering her shop, I fell into the category of the latter. Hmmm, I wonder why? I should've left, but as I decided, I wanted to try the pastries and see if the place was worth it at all or not. I ordered a chai and a muffin, both were overpriced, and definitely not worth it. The muffin tasted like a lot of the less expensive ingredients, and very little of the good ingredients. The chai was bland. I definitely have compassion regarding the situation, I'm sure the owner is under a lot of stress. But, this could be a person's time to show their true colors and she shows that she's very selective and who she is kind too and who she is not. My compassion ends here. I will not return, nor would I recommend this place.

I'm not a regular and was unfamiliar with the process but it seemed disorganized. I was given a number. I noticed an ice tea on the counter and asked if it was for me. A little later, the pastry was bagged and on the counter in a different place. Finally, I saw a bag and asked. Yep. The sandwich. I felt like a dummy for not understanding how the system worked, but also was annoyed that I tipped 20% for a takeout order and it was delivered piecemeal with no way for me to carry it. A kind person who watch the whole thing offered me her bag. If not for her, I would have had a sandwich in a loose paper wrap, a bun in a small bag, and a cup. The sandwich was okay. It had two slices of bread, not the traditional three. The turkey was clearly deli meat, not fresh roasted, the lettuce was wilted immediately, the tomato slice was good, and the avocado slice was good. The bacon was sparse, as was the deli meat. My husband didn't eat much of it. He liked the cinnamon roll. But for the money, he didn't want to have food from there again.

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.
