This is my 2nd year getting Easter boxes for my family and I could not be happier with the quality of the goodies in the box and the high level of customer service from Glyka Sweets! Each year, I order 13 or 14 boxes to celebrate Easter with my family. Everyone now looks forward to the cookies, the bread, the chocolates, etc. I was very worried about not sending home-made items to my family but there are simply too many people. Their pistachio baklava is the best I have ever had! I have been meaning to try Glyka Sweets for quite some time and finally did recently. I have seen their products in local grocery stores and recently stopped by their location for some food and sweets of course. I saw a post on social media that they were having a Greek Food Fest. One of the ladies told me they serve gyros every other Friday. I ordered a couple gyros, a pistachio baklava, a walnut baklava, and a sour cherry soda which the lady on the phone highly recommended. This local Greek business is outstanding. Great food and customer service. I want to try more savory items off their menu and of course some sweets. I was lamenting about not having the Greek festival this year in Novato and my Greek friend told me about this place. I would never have found it on my own. It's in an industrial part of San Rafael where I never go. Luckily GPS got me there. I'm actually not a sweets person so I can't vouch for their specialty sweets at all but I adore spanakopita, moussaka, and pastitsio with all my wanna-be-Mediterranean heart. For $10 a portion (not too big, not too small) you can order a frozen or heated up savory meal and pick it up. I ordered by email, paid via PayPal ahead of time and the owner brought it to my car. I have only had the moussaka so far but it definitely hit the spot. I put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20ish minutes and then devoured it in about five minutes. If you're in need of some authentic Greek baked items or hard-to-find imported Greek cooking items, like Greek olive oil, this is the place to go in the bay area. They have so many great offerings and, they have several vegan items too! We've been searching for a place like this for sometime and are very happy we've finally found it. I received items from this establishment as a Christmas gift. I was shocked to see that they make their products with potassium sorbate and calcium propionate . I contacted them to find out if I could exchange the items or receive a refund and Effie put me on hold and a man came on the phone and screamed at me and then hung up the phone. I would NOT recommend this company. Save your money and go to any low~end grocery store bakery and get the same or better quality bakery items. By the way I'm 100% Greek and I make these items and know what these items are supposed to taste like and they are inferior in taste, authenticity and ingredients. And the ONLY reason they are receiving 1 star is because it is required. Definitely a zero star establishment. read more

I ordered from Glyka Sweets online to send to my mother for Greek Easter. Since Covid, it has been difficult to travel and see each other, so we were unable to send Easter together. My father passed away a few years ago, and it's been tough on her during these holidays without him. It is not visible from the main road (Andersen Dr.) and tucked away at the end of an industrial building behind 'Cash & Carry' past where Orchard Supply used to be (now Pace, I think). I got the 'Cookie Sampler Box' and I haven't sampled all of the cookies yet, but what I did sample were just delicious! Now I won't be missing the Greek festivals so much since I can indulge in the goodies whenever I want. The gal behind the counter was very accommodating, since I wanted one sample of every cookie (instead of the usual two) which put the price a tad over the $17.50 - but I felt it was worth it. Okay, I don't think I've ever had someone go out of their way more for a customer as they did for me. I called, believe it or not, more than 30 bakeries in Marin and San Francisco to see if anyone bakes sweet potato muffins for the holidays and no one did. Glyka team actually called me back and said they'd give it a shot and a week later, they called me for a taste test. My husband and I went by and they were delicious, but sweet when we were looking for savory. They gave them to us for free and said they'd call us again for another taste test. Another week goes by, we go on in and they're perfect! They again gave them to us and we placed an order to serve for our Thanksgiving dinner. We picked them up at 5:00 pm the night before and brought them home hot out of the oven. Not only do I look forward to ordering more for Christmas, but they have a customer for life. We also stock up on paximadia which are like biscotti, only better. Again, not too sweet. It's like pastry for adults. But if your sweet tooth is kicking in big time, then try the ravani.
