She screamed at me and spit in my face, and I returned that favor. On the next day, we both made a report to the Dallas Police Department. I did not know that my neighbor also lied and reported that I had backed over her with my truck. I was arrested four months later for felony assault with a vehicle. I quickly found a prominent criminal defense attorney to represent me. He had a stellar reputation, along with a stellar fee of $500 per hour. We met twice during the next six weeks and I wrote two checks totaling $3,000 to him. After six weeks, this attorney had 'no progress' to report to me, except that the Dallas County district attorney would not return his emails. This was not acceptable to me and we terminated our agreement mutually. I met Mr. Lochry on a Saturday morning for breakfast and we signed a retainer agreement. Two days later, on Monday, Mr. Lochry was in the district attorney's office downtown to request that my case be dismissed because the plaintiff, my neighbor, had passed away from natural causes four months earlier. The DA declined. One week later, Mr. Lochry requested an examining trial, to review the evidence held by the district attorney. In late February, 2025, my case was heard and the DA for Dallas County could produce no evidence or witnesses to support the false allegations against me. The DA presented a case that was fraught with oversight and mistakes. The detective who investigated the case had never seen me, nor talked to me, BUT, he lied in court and said that he had. Mr. Lochry demonstrated to the judge that this was a simple case of "he said, she said". The judge advised the DA to tell his superiors to reject my case, and I was released from my bail the next day. Mr. Lochry explained to me that it had been "a botched investigation" by the Dallas Police Department. Throughout my legal ordeal, Tom Lochry was calm, reassuring and acted professionally. In court, I sensed that the judge respected and appreciated Mr. Lochry's courtesy and calm delivery. Tom spent the time necessary to research and uncover the evidence and data that was pertinent to the case. Admittedly I was reluctant to pay for Mr. Lockry's services on behalf of my son; maybe this was a lesson for him? It turned out to be a great learning experience for me and how the justice system works (or doesn't work). I'm thankful for doing the right thing so that my son was taught a lesson, but that it was also a fair punishment. If we tried to go it alone the outcome would have been terrible for the prosecutors and police are not always right; note, we support our police and the tough jobs they have. I am proud to say my son is back in school and getting straight A's. If it wasn't for Mr. Lockry my son's future would have been in jeopardy and altered as he would have been unable to start school and or remain in his apartment or worse with no vision for the future.

Mark Lane is finishing-up my divorce case. He has been a true professional. I've read so many…read morereviews here that put him down for a number of things - not returning calls, not getting what the client wanted, etc. If I may, I'd like to offer perspective on these things, based on my experiences with Mr. Lane and his office: First, some background. I'm finalizing a divorce where I ended up losing an animal that was so very important to me. My wife chose to use my dog as a ploy to hurt me during this divorce process, and I will no longer ever see the little guy that helped me keep my sanity on many dark and horrible nights. Having said that, Mark also negotiated a settlement for me that keeps my head well above water financially in a time where I most need it. What I'm trying to illustrate to you is this: I lost something precious to me during this divorce. It kills me emotionally. However, it's not Mark Lane's fault. I have a role to play in how my life turns out and I accept my portion of responsibility for my marriage and its outcome. It's true that it can be difficult to reach Mr. Lane. However, and this is my personal opinion, Mark is not the kind of attorney that is a hand-holder or a coddler. Make no mistake, that doesn't mean that he doesn't care about you or your case. But it does mean that for some folks, his no-nonsense, let's-just-handle-this approach, can be off-putting. If you need someone to console you constantly and hold your hand, I'd suggest finding another attorney. However, and again this is my opinion, most of those attorneys that are hand-holders are also the ones that may tend to tell you what you want to hear. Why? Because divorce or any family law situation is excruciating at best. There's simply no way to predict what you will get and there's nothing good about the process. The best you can hope for is to survive and come out a better person on the other side. It's your life. You have to own the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don't ever expect to pay someone a sum of money to simply make your problems go away. If you can understand that, you'll never find a better attorney. To sum up my review, I wanted to say "thank you" to Mark Lane and his staff. I wrote this review so that others who need an attorney - the best attorney you can get, in my opinion - would know Mr. Lane's style and his abilities. And, frankly, I felt it necessary to provide a sense of perspective on all the bad reviews he has received.

After an initial court denial from the court, we decided not to continue to pursue the matter, but their office filed suit without consulting with us on the path forward. We asked them to file a non-suit and end the case. That was all they did, yet somehow, they deemed our invoice come to a total of over $3,000. Most of the charges were the communications we needed to make to correct their errors, and of course the filing they neglected to confer with us about, then the non-suit filing. Not once did the attorney have to actually appear in a courtroom. On top of that, their office has ignored the majority of our communication attempts and typically did not respond to our early calls/e-mails for days. This is a very unprofessional office and are run as a money-grab scheme. Do not use Mark Lane.
