Mark Lane started optimistic and encouraged us to pursue a case, which we did. But, right away, we started to feel leery of his office's professionalism when they were making blatant errors, like misspelling the child's name on court documents and other mistakes they should not need us to correct. After an initial court denial from the court, we decided not to continue to pursue the matter, but their office filed suit without consulting with us on the path forward. We asked them to file a non-suit and end the case. That was all they did, yet somehow, they deemed our invoice come to a total of over $3,000. Most of the charges were the communications we needed to make to correct their errors, and of course the filing they neglected to confer with us about, then the non-suit filing. Not once did the attorney have to actually appear in a courtroom. On top of that, their office has ignored the majority of our communication attempts and typically did not respond to our early calls/e-mails for days. This is a very unprofessional office and are run as a money-grab scheme. Do not use Mark Lane. read more

Well, I have read all the bad reviews and I simply don't understand them. This is not the Mark Lane that handles the bike case that handled my divorce. My ex filed for the divorce and I truly thought I was screwed until I contacted Mark Lane. he was very professional. His staff was very professional, they always returned my calls. Even going into my divorce with Mark all I was hoping for was not having to pay for attorney fees, which I thought I was gonna have to do not only did I not have to pay for my attorney fees, but I got a considerable amount in the settlement, which I did not expect at all, and it was because he dug very deep into my exes finances and found much information that I wasn't even aware of. I'm sure that Mark has his faults, as all attorneys do, but I can tell you from experience. I think he is a very, very good and professional attorney very caring, and although I may not have seen or spoken with him during the divorce, he was at every meeting that was called. He's a very very busy man because he is a very, very good attorney, not only does he handle divorces but he is now doing estate and trust settlements. I understand that that is really what he wants to do so he's trying to do less divorce cases but I highly recommend Mark if you want a really good professional attorney and expect a good outcome, you need to make sure to hire Mark. This attorney was a joke! You're better off representing yourself. Hired for a family law case of non custodial violations of legal orders and child supprt. Communication from himself and staff was awful. It took literally over months to get a response or call back. Mark would say " I'll call you right back in a few minutes.", but never did. Those were multiple "call backs" statements and failed on his end every time. When one of his paralegal brought to our attention that she submitted the wrong paperwork to the courthouse, this was brought to Mark's attention. He was asked if he can look in the court system himself to see what was actually turned it by his paralegal. He came back on the phone after a 20min hold and he states himself that the correct paperwork was submitted. He emailed 2 months later that the wrong paperwork indeed was submitted but he personally submitted the correct one. He said that paralegal is no longer there due to multiple mess up in general. Brittany (paralegal) no longer being there after that didn't make a difference either way. What put the cherry on top was there was a court date that he was aware of and he didn't show up . We didn't know until AFTER he was discharged on representing us. That court case was dismissed due to a "no show" according to Tarrant county courts. We submitted a formal complaint to the Texas Bar association against him. We were lucky enough to receive our money back without a fight from him. We didn't want verbal communication from him anymore but only communicate through emails for a paper-trail suggested by the Texas Bar associate. Had a strong case against Mark on all the claims I just stated. Do not hire this attorney unless you want to waste your time and money. Two mediations with Mark as my attorney, and I still was not provided my ex's income or proof of retirement amount. Clever move forcing me to sign the mediation agreement by threatening to fire me as a client less than 2 months before the final court date...because he knew I couldn't afford to hire a new attorney. Sidenote: He threatened and filed to fire me because I DARED to be upset that he wanted me to sign a mediation agreement without my ex's financial info. What a peach. I have it recorded. May not be admissible, but I have it. I got LESS than the standard child support and zero of my ex's (of 24 years) pension, which is thousands more than mine. Guess I will work until I die while my ex lives the high life. I wish I had know sooner he was buddies with my ex's attorney friends. He also blocked me on Facebook because I commented on his videos. He had no rebuttal. Just blocked me so that others would not see the truth. read more

Mark Lane is finishing-up my divorce case. He has been a true professional. I've read so many reviews here that put him down for a number of things - not returning calls, not getting what the client wanted, etc. If I may, I'd like to offer perspective on these things, based on my experiences with Mr. Lane and his office: First, some background. I'm finalizing a divorce where I ended up losing an animal that was so very important to me. My wife chose to use my dog as a ploy to hurt me during this divorce process, and I will no longer ever see the little guy that helped me keep my sanity on many dark and horrible nights. Having said that, Mark also negotiated a settlement for me that keeps my head well above water financially in a time where I most need it. What I'm trying to illustrate to you is this: I lost something precious to me during this divorce. It kills me emotionally. However, it's not Mark Lane's fault. I have a role to play in how my life turns out and I accept my portion of responsibility for my marriage and its outcome. It's true that it can be difficult to reach Mr. Lane. However, and this is my personal opinion, Mark is not the kind of attorney that is a hand-holder or a coddler. Make no mistake, that doesn't mean that he doesn't care about you or your case. But it does mean that for some folks, his no-nonsense, let's-just-handle-this approach, can be off-putting. If you need someone to console you constantly and hold your hand, I'd suggest finding another attorney. However, and again this is my opinion, most of those attorneys that are hand-holders are also the ones that may tend to tell you what you want to hear. Why? Because divorce or any family law situation is excruciating at best. There's simply no way to predict what you will get and there's nothing good about the process. The best you can hope for is to survive and come out a better person on the other side. It's your life. You have to own the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don't ever expect to pay someone a sum of money to simply make your problems go away. If you can understand that, you'll never find a better attorney. To sum up my review, I wanted to say "thank you" to Mark Lane and his staff. I wrote this review so that others who need an attorney - the best attorney you can get, in my opinion - would know Mr. Lane's style and his abilities. Office is extremely unhelpful and terrible at communication. Ultimately this office didn't represent any of my wishes or concern themselves with the best interest of my daughter. When asking why there was no progress or why everything is so impossible to accomplish; we were often told that they didn't know or were borderline insulted for asking questions. The opposing party went as far as to file orders because they were not returning contact to them or managing my case. The court demanded information as well. Very unprofessional and unethical. He was a terrible attorney and I regret retaining his services for my divorce. He couldn't even finish handling my divorce before he withdrew his services. You have to leave a credit card or bank account on file with him so that he can charge you whatever he wants to without even sending you an invoice. He doesn't do anything that he says he's going to do. You cannot ever contact him. He does not act in your best interest. He doesn't request discovery from the other party. He tries to shortcut and rush through Mediation trying leave out all of the important issues that must be addressed. He tries to force you to sign the Settlement Agreement even though your ex showed up to Mediation with his bank account balances written on a piece of paper and no inventory listing all assets and liabilities. Then he turns around and withdraws from your case because you wouldn't agree to another botched Mediation and charges thousands of dollars to your credit card without an invoice. read more

Mark's firm was great dealing with our case. We were displaced and out of state and worked with us via email and phone to accomplish getting all the paperwork completed in order to get custody of our great niece. We will definitely be using them in the future for any other family law related issues that arise. read more

Because the case was still open till recently, I have not been able to post. In 2018 I hired Mark to represent me in a Modification case. He was impossible to get ahold of, never responsive, and did not follow my wishes. He actually signed court documents he was specifically instructed not to sign. Grievances were filed with the state board. It cost me $25,000 to correct his mistake and 2.5 years in court. DO NOT USE HIM!! read more

Mark Lane and his team are amazing. I had little hope of protecting my children from abuse at the hands of my ex-in-laws, who had court ordered visitation from another state (Arkansas). Because, of the abuse both of my children have mental health issues. Mark and his team got the case transferred to a Texas court, once the case was moved to Texas (Tarrant county) my ex-in-laws have no access and my ex who admitted in court he knew his parents were abusing the children only gets visitation per the discretion of the mental health providers.
