Horrible experience.  Offered 5k below my trucks kbb buy it now price. I went and got the exact same truck I was going to buy from your dealership for the same price. They didn't give me 5k under. They gave me 2k over kbb buy it now. So a difference in almost 7k. I'm military and had to get out of work, drive all the way up there, all to waste my time because they thought I didn't do my research.  They basically offered me what my payoff was which was an insult and was because they thought I was an ignorant shopper and didn't know what I was doing. I visited Glynn Smith Chevrolet today to look at a used Camaro Z/28. I had been in contact with the salesman, Otis via email for a couple of days. I had a few questions about the car and they were quickly answered. The last email I received asked me if I'd be willing to come view the car in person and take it for a spin. I responded that I would be able to visit this afternoon. So I drove from Birmingham to look at this car. When I got to the dealership they said Otis was with a customer and another gentleman showed me the car. When I asked about driving the car, he said there are no test drives for this car. I showed him the email and he brought out his manager, Brian. Brian said for this type of car we need to know you're serious about it and agree on numbers beforehand. They also would check my credit to make sure I could afford the car to begin with. I asked him why this wasn't included in the emails, he said those emails are template based. It was at this point his demeanor became more frustrated that this conversation had yet to end. I wasn't about to have my credit dinged for a car I wasn't sure I would like. Primarily because the car had just over 4,000 miles but it already had three owners. So that was a red flag. His response was it has low miles and warranty. Then it began to sprinkle and he said this car isn't safe in the rain with these tires. This was the first thing we agreed on our entire conversation, and then I decided to take my business elsewhere. I'm not upset that they restrict test drives on high performance vehicles. I get it. But what I don't understand is why this wasn't communicated in the multiple emails prior to my visit? And why did I leave this dealership feeling ashamed for having the audacity to want a test drive that I scheduled ahead of time? Why was this such a bad experience? Why was the manager so frustrated at me that he didn't even try to shake my hand as he left. I could not believe this happened at a Chevrolet dealership. Update: 1/24/18 I was contacted by John Capps and he was very understanding of the reason I posted my experience. Based off of all of the 5 star reviews, my experience was definitely an anomaly. I really just wanted to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone in the future. I am glad you are addressing it with your staff. The last thing any dealership wants is making a guy willing to buy a car feel unwelcome. So thank you for listening to my concerns and addressing them. read more

Bad service, never gave me a spare key, was told to come back if I needed one. 4 years later and they refuse to waive the fee to have one made. Customers shouldn't pay for a spare key to be made since they failed to provide it in the first place. 2 years ago I went in because the emission light came on, I addressed it and they said they couldn't help because there wasn't a recall and went over the warranty miles. 6 months later GMC had the recall for the same problem, tried to get my money back from fixing the car with a cheaper mechanic (GLYN SMITH IS extremely expensive ), said they couldn't pay because I didn't go through them for repair for the recall. Never again! I wish I had never purchased the vehicle there. They treated me nice the day of purchase because I'm Military and now they completely have LOST MY BUSINESS. read more

I would like to spotlight Glynn Smith Chevrolet's mechanic BRAD SIMPSON, who sold us a red Ford Ranger two weeks ago that as a mechanic, told us there was nothing he knew wrong with it (knowing it was for our teenage son) as proudly sported your dealerships uniform shirt. It didn't even make it 12 hours before the transmission went out and left my son on the highway. Mechanics tell us it was tampered with to make it drive. It sounds like you have a very DISHONEST mechanic working for you! I bout a truck from them and its has been the worst mistake of my life! It has had 2 rear main seals, 2 transfer case seals, 4wd stuck in high, transmission reflashed twice, serpentine belt and idler pulley, front shocks, front tie rod ends, all with in 10 thousand miles! Bout truck with 52 thousand miles on it and now it has 62 thousand miles on it. Now i have a bad tire pressure sensor! Mitch Tolbert and John Caps the General Manager, continue to blow smoke up my butt making me think they are trying to get me out of this truck! Was i wrong! I get an email stating they appreciate my conversation about the truck and if they can do anything in the future to help me let them no! What a joke! read more

I was going to make an appointment, she asked my name , after I gave it she said she couldn't find me in the system! This really ticked me off, I have bought at least 7 new vehicles from this Dealership since 2000 and they don't even have me in their system!!! Told the lady I had my 2013 Avalanche serviced there several times. She said my vehicle was under my daughter in law's name. I told her to forget about the appointment. Salesman leaves to fill up the car and we get hard sold by the finance guy on how our decision of a foreign car with additional warranty over their GMC consideration was a garbage choice over buying the GMC with $2500 additional warranty. My experience at Glynn Smith Chevrolet was outstanding! I narrowed down the truck we wanted to purchase from an online web search and called the dealership and spoke to Mike Core (sales manager) directly. We live in NY but the price Mike was offering for the truck beat anything around here by $5k! It was worth the trip down south. I began talking with Mike on a Thursday and by the next Friday we had our new truck. We handled all the transactions via email and Mike was always responsive to my questions and phone calls, despite how busy he was. Even though I never spoke to anyone other than Mike, when we arrived to pick up the truck we had been assigned to Otis Preston as our official salesperson. I had not worked with Otis up until that point, but I can say, if I had, I'm sure it would have been a pleasant experience as well. If I could say one thing negative it would be that the truck wasn't ready for us when we arrived. The truck bed cover was not done being installed and it still had to be detailed. I had conveyed that we needed to leave by 10:00 at the latest but we didn't get out of there until after 12:00, which made us very late to pick up our new camper in Atlanta. (I would knock 1/2 star off of my review if I could because I was very specific about our scheduling needs.) Still, it was an excellent car buying experience. Very straight forward about price and no run arounds or hassles. Would definitely recommend this dealership. No "sleazy sales tactics" there. read more
