So my husband and I go to this place thinking we will see the rumored boats. But to our surprise they no longer have it. I don't know if its because of the change of management but we stayed none the less. We entered and where soon greeted by a very friendly gentleman (who apparently was the owner of the place, his name is Wing Yip) He asked if it was our first time there, he gave us our menus and explained whats popular and so on. He was very patient with us and again super friendly. The place is a bit small and cramped but it has a cozy atmosphere. We ordered some Pork Dumplings, a Veggie Roll and a California Roll. Also on Monday-Fridays they give free miso soup before 2pm which was a plus. When the food arrived it was in a very beautiful presentation and to our surprise it was in a cute boat shaped plate! (I guess they are trying to keep the memory of the boats) The miso soup was delicious. (I guess because its free it didn't have the tofu but thats completely fine with me since its free) The Rolls where really good! (I was a bit surprised with how Good they where to be honest.) We also ordered 2 glasses of the Japanese plum wine and it was amazing, its a very sweet and light white wine and so fruity! All in all the service was more that Great, the staff was super friendly the Owner is seriously the most attentive, friendliest, hardworking manager/owner I've ever met! so props to Wing Yip. This is now one of my fave places to go. read more

After seeing the picture of the sushi boats floating around, we were very excited to try this place. The "sushi boat buffet" is something we've only seen once or twice before. Imagine our disappointment when we walk in and it's just a regular (but tiny) sushi restaurant. No boats. We decided to stay. We ordered seaweed salad (good portion size and good), spicy crab salad (excellent) and pork dumplings (very good). The sushi was very expensive so we only picked two rolls, shrimp with fried onions and a samurai roll (tuna topped with spicy salmon). The fish tasted fresh but there was way too much rice. I hate that. Service was ok, but when I asked for two waters, they gave me bottled. Uggh. read more

One of my favorite things about traveling is to see the interpretations of different cuisines by the locals. This sushi bar, while not elegant, is a wonderful example of this concept in action. Opening the door, I was surprised at how intimate this restaurant was. Eight tables, half seating four and the other half seating two, greeted me. The hostess indicated that we could sit where we liked and immediately brought us a menu. Here, we encountered our first burr, as we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink. I think, however, that this was because the server didn't speak very good English. After a couple of minutes, the cook came from behind the counter and took our drink order in perfect English and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We ordered three rolls and some fried dumplings and talked for about fifteen minutes while our food was prepared. One of the things we discussed was the lack of raw fish at what appeared to be a sushi restaurant. There were many options, however, for fried fish and yakitori. Another strange thing we noted was the prevalence of cream cheese in almost everything. I guess that this is a local affectation and though neither of us were particularly fond of cream cheese in sushi, we resolved to try it. Our dumplings came out in about five minutes, served not in the familiar peanut oil, but in what I assume was local vegetable oil. They were well crisped with a slightly tangy aftertaste and I enjoyed them quite a bit. After another ten minutes, our three rolls arrived. The presentation was simple but appealing and the rolls themselves could best be described as substantial. While I was still somewhat disappointed in the lack of raw fish available, I was pleased with the preparation and quality. Overall, I'd give this restaurant 3.5 stars if I could, but it definitely falls short of four. read more

I finally got the opportunity to take a nice vacation with my husband. It was our first day and we had a good start. After our little adventures, we decide to go for a sushi dinner since it's my husbands favorite food. We drove about 20 minutes out of our way and were greeted nicely by the server. The place was tiny but we assumed most holes in the wall have really good food. We were seated next to the "chefs" who seemed to be working hard. The menu was basic but spicy mayo and cream cheese was an ingredient in most rolls. When we placed the order, my husband requested not to add the spicy mayo or have it on the side if it was an important ingredient in the roll. The waitress kindly agreed and told the "chefs" who happen to be not even 4 feet away from us. They must have thought I did not speak Spanish because my husband is Caucasian. Needless to say they began talking about how my husband could probably not take the heat and how high maintenance he was because of his request. When the food came, which took about 35 minuts to make, the rolls were just basic and pricy. Even with the spicy mayo, there was nothing special about the rolls. We ate and asked for the check. When the check came, my husband asked if they had military discount to which the waitress said she would ask her boss. I assumed she did because once again a very loud voice not even 4 feet away from us said in Spanish " I told you he was going to ask for something else" the answer is NO! No! No! And began to laugh. I did not want to tell my husband what was happening because I did not want to ruin his evening. The mediocre expensive sushi was enough. I tried to get over my anger, but I feel I need to let you know that these "chefs" are hateful women and be aware that they may be talking about you if you do not speak Spanish. read more

Fish was ok, rice was stale and bland. 1 out of 3 roles was decent. Ginger was salty and even sweet.

It's good, but not memorable. The best one was the spicy shrimp. The place is to small, but ok prices.

Not great. Not terrible. For what it is, it should be a lot cheaper. If it was more affordable I would give it 3 stars.
