Abused by a waitress at this restaurant - 0 stars, ALL THUMBS DOWN
    Cara J.

I had an absolutely horrible experience at this restaurant. The food was just fine with our group of 5, however the service from the waitress was the WORST. She was rude during our whole visit, but at the end she was outright disrespectful. She became belligerent and even said to me "You spent $7 and you're acting like a princess." This was during happy hour, everything is cheap, plus my companions spent enough so her comment was irrelevant. When I attempted to get the information I needed to write a review of my experience the waitress got in my face saying things like "what are you doing here?, why won't you leave ?, what do you want with me you're asking my name." I was willing to chalk up her bad behavior to having a bad day but after her near violent behavior it was clear to me that she was prejudiced. 0 stars for this restaurant. We should not support the prejudiced/racist behavior of anyone, especially not a group of girls trying to enjoy an out of town trip for a friend's birthday. This waitress was allowed to abuse her guests with no reprimand from management or the owner due to the fact that we were tourists and would not be back. The sushi chef was amazing, and attempted to diffuse tension (we loved him). At the end of the day abuse of a customer, whether passing through or local is NEVER APPROPRIATE! Visit this restaurant at your own risk! I recommend going only if you are a part of an ethnic/racial group not at risk for prejudice.

The jiro roll was the best I've tasted ever.

Pleasantly surprised. I didn't even know they existed and I absolutely recommend it. I am a sushi lover and one of the best rolls I've had was here.

Really great sushi! So flavorful with a Puerto Rico twist. Staff had great recommendations and every one was wonderful. Didn't get a picture because we gobbled it up so fast!

My first time trying sushi ever. I loved it. Try the volcano role. We got married in P.R. looking for a place to have dinner.

La Placita Santurces' best sushi place!

Sashimi here is awesome. I had the spicy salmon and spicy tuna and I was blown away and I am a sushi snob.

This is a "hole in the wall" type of place in La Placita Santurces with really good sushi and sashimi, mojitos and sangria.

We ordered a Thai tofu salad, spring rolls, chana masala, rice, and aloo paratha. The "salad" was basically just sliced onion, tomato, spinach, a few grated carrots, and literally one piece of tofu--no seasoning at all, not even proper salt or pepper. Completely bland. The chana masala was even worse. It had no real masala flavor--just a creamy, slightly sweet gravy with minimal salt. It didn't resemble chana masala in taste or texture. The aloo paratha was overpriced at $8 and came in small pieces with barely any stuffing inside. To make it worse, the chana masala alone was $23 and didn't even come with rice or any accompaniment, which is unreasonable. Overall, we paid a lot for extremely tasteless food. Definitely not returning and would not recommend this place if you're expecting authentic or even decent Indian flavors.

Left Old San Juan on a Sunday and was struggling to find Indian food since I arrived back here in…read morePR, so Yelp directed me here. Was surprised to see a mixed Thai and Indian restaurant - not really the most related set of cuisines but decided to go try it out. Ordered samosas and a Tom Kha Kai as those are my staples in any Indian and Thai restaurants respectively. Was surprised to see the samosas sliced in half - guessing it's more so for presentation but that was a first. They were pretty flavorful, but I expect a kick in my Indian food and this was not present. I was also told their green sauce (mint chutney) would have a kick and it was notably absent. The tamarind sauce was good but it was missing something that I still can't really identify. The Tom Kha Kai was not on the spicy side at all, and the sauce they gave me to tack on to it was mild - however it was one of the three best Tom Kha I have ever tried, which is saying a lot. I had Paneer Makhani for my main course and two things I noticed - I expected the color to be more towards red, and this was not. The second was the rice - yellow basmati, as if it was cooked with saffron. I may be a bit of a snob but I like my basmati to be white when I eat Indian food as I don't want anything else influencing the flavor. The curry was good, but it didn't have that velvety texture usually seen in Makhani dishes - probably due to a reduced tomato content. And it was definitely missing some heat. Service was great and consistent. There were two servers at all times checking in and refilling water, and they were overall very courteous. Ambiance is a tossup - paper handkerchiefs with the cutlery is a no-no for Indian food since it's saucy and can spill easy. You couldn't even cover your lap with what was offered. The music was one small thing looped over and over, so it was repetitive. And it was expensive. $28.00 for the Paneer Makhani was overkill. I don't even pay that much for it in the finest Indian restaurants in Miami! 3/5. Good food but misses the mark for the price being paid. Would go back for the Tom Kha, or if someone else was footing the bill.

Parking is a bit of a downside since there isn't much available, so I had to pay for parking. Once inside, though, everything moved incredibly fast. I got my food in less than 10 minutes, which is probably the fastest I've ever been served at a restaurant. It almost made me question how fresh it was, but after eating, I can say it was actually very good. I ordered the grilled white fish with lemon and egg fried rice with yum yum sauce on the side, plus shrimp tempura sushi to go. The yum yum sauce tasted like a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise, but when I mixed it with the fried rice, it was really, really good. The fish itself was tasty but needed more salt I ended up adding salt and squeezing lime over it to bring out the flavor. It seemed like it was only seasoned during marination and not finished properly. The salad wasn't anything special, but overall, for how quickly the food came out, the quality was impressive. Portions are generous, and the pricing matches what you get. We came around midnight and left close to 1 AM when they were closing. The place looked packed, but service was still quick and efficient. Our server was okay--nothing standout, but no issues either. Overall, I'd come back. Fast service, solid food, and a good late-night option.

The sushi rolls left a lot to be desired for - the one with the beef in it wasn't quite good. We only ate a piece of it. The crab Rangoons were decent - nothing to write home about. The service could have been better - even with such few people in the restaurant we were waiting many times for service, water, cheque etc.

I admittedly had low expectations for Chinese food in PR, but the lo mein with chicken was delicious! They also had a few vegan options, like the imperial ginger w tofu (essentially sweet & sour tofu) that comes with a side of rice. My lo mein did not come with a side of rice but the portion size could be split among two people, and you can add a side of rice for a small up charge. The vibe is a black & red Asian decor, with a rap around bar and a few restaurant tables. There is also a walk-up boba bar attached that's available on the dining menu.

We tried the pan fried veggie dumplings, scallion pancake, hongkong noodles, imperial ginger tofu, black bean chicken, ube pudding and donut with condensed milk. Also 4 drinks - ranging from floral soju based, tropical gin based to fruity bourbon ones. Everything tasted alright - but don't go here expecting authentic flavors - just get ur trip fix ins for asian inspired food. Also I'd skip the imperial ginger and anything that has sweet spicy description as those dishes only lean toward sweet sugary sauce flavors. Service is good but they took really long to come out with the desserts and then the check.

It's certainly not the best pho or pad Thai we've ever had but it is solid. At the Noodle Merchant, I tried their chicken wings and dumplings. The wings were fried nicely but I didn't like the filling inside of the dumplings. It tasted too mushy for my liking. At Himalaya's, I had their seafood hot pot. All of the seafood was not fresh, but that may be because of the hurricane. I didn't like how the hot pot was just full of sauce. If it were some kind of broth (like it's supposed to be) I would have enjoyed it more. But the "hot pot" ($22) was more like a giant stir fry swimming in soy sauce mixture. I did like the presentation though and the rice was nice. I'm glad there's an Asian stall but seeing them boil ramen packages like I do at home and then charge $15 is not what I call good eats. Again, not sure what's normal and what's changed due to the hurricane. I would like to come back and give it another shot.
