Seeing the refinement of No Comply had me smiling as it truly has a ride range of decks, bikes, clothing, shoes, and more. It's so well lit and organized and everything is easy to follow from the naked eye. The team was also super friendly which was refreshing and you can tell how much pride they have. I found a pair of white leather shoes that were on sale and I was ready to buy but sadly they didn't have my size womp womp. I used to live on Hermosa beach, and that coastline sidewalk all the way up to Venice was primo for riding. I wanted something specific though, I dont do tricks or anything because my body is old plus I'm quarantine fat... I wanted a 43"-50" PINTAIL. Like a surfboard on wheels. So I went by yesterday and they didn't have what I needed, so I bought a dope hat. Then I went into a pawnshop today by my apartment (tbh I'd kinda forgotten about the longboard thing) BUT OMG there was this old skool 90's 43.75" PINTAIL LONGBOARD. I mean literally exactly what the old heads in SoCal would gush over. I negotiated the price down a little, and then went straight to back to apparition. New trucks, new grip tape, new wheels... this baby is sickkkkk. I mean it's completely modded. Basically I just got a dope deck from the pawn shop, and then Michelle in Apparition built this baby for me.

Longboarding is skateboarding but with a longer board. Why would a middle aged man do such a thing? Well, how many overweight skateboarders have you seen? Exactly, and that's why I figured I needed to be doing it too. It works different muscles and to me it's more fun than just walking away the pounds. I think I'm hooked! I stopped in at Alta Vista Skateshop today after church to buy a multi tool and to perhaps grab a little skateboarding subculture. I had a nice chat with co-owner Paul and he educated me on the quality of my recent craigslist longboard purchase in addition to ringing me up on a skateboard multi tool. I appreciated the education as he was very patient with me. He really knows his stuff and I plan to return to buy more and better stuff. I really liked all his inventory and you can buy a complete skateboard or have one built from scratch. They have clothing to buy, helmets, stickers for representing your love of skateboarding and much more. I wish I'd taken up skateboarding much sooner but I was listening to others more than listening to myself. Lesson learned for me and it's never too late to begin something new. This place is great! Who did I see? A shop co-owner, a patron on their couch and me, a small business owner. Skateboarding is super fun and this place can get you set up proper.
