Organic Oasis | Restaurant & Juice Bar is an anomaly among many restaurants that I have dined at…read more They boast a very diverse menu that satisfies meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. However, the vegetarian menu is the reason why I chose Oasis over many others around Anchorage when I arrived. Many restaurants' vegetarian/vegan options are limited consisting of bar foods like vegan burgers, French fries, salads and fried pickles that are high in salt and greasy high fats. This place is completely different; for instance, the bowls and wraps section, which you can customize with optional brown rice, quinoa, flatbread, or tortilla. I chose the Vegan High-Protein bowl and quinoa. The tofu was soft and flavorful, and the hummus was perfectly complementary. The star was the in-house salad dressing, which I can't remember what was in it and what its name was, but it was green, tangy and phenomenal. The food was so good that I returned on Saturday, and there was no drop-off in flavor and service. This place is highly recommended, and whenever I'm back in Anchorage, I would definitely be returning.

Organic Oasis had some great reviews and the two in my party were semi-vegetarians. There were 6 other people in the room. The menu was well laid out and had great options for the meat challenged. We ordered our lunch at 1130. We were served water and then we waited... and waited. At 1230, we debated on leaving when I finally asked the hostess if she knew how much longer it would be, her response was curt and short, "they just started it." We thought it was odd that with so few in the room, the meal was just started nearly an hour after ordering. At 1250 the meal arrived. We had ordered the protein plate, a Thai salad and a turkey sandwich. The protein plate had an unseasoned burger patty that was crispy on the outside and raw on the inside and the steamed vegetables were barely cooked with the carrots still having the peels on them, the Thai plate had zero sauce. The turkey sandwich was exceptional, I opted for no cheese and added avocado. At 115, I went to the counter and the hostess looked very weary and asked what I wanted when the phone rang. She picked it up and immediately hung it back up without answering, then took the receiver off the phone. I said I would like to pay my bill. At this point, the hostess turned to the waiter who had been waiting on us saying, "these are yours." Three meals, only the sandwich was edible, came to $75. Wow. We were hoping that someone was just having a bad day, but seeing other reviews, our experience was similar to others. Will not be going back.

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

Decided to go here on a Sunday since they are now open for Sunday brunch and dinner. This is our…read morefirst trip. I had called prior to inquire about gluten-free options. I was told that most likely I could have the catfish. But anything smothered most likely not. If you're concerned about cross contamination, this is not the place to be. I opted of course for the catfish and my two sides were sweet potatoes and collard greens. I had to forgo the cornbread or roll that comes with. My husband ordered the same since they did not have ribs on today's menu and his sides were mac & cheese and sweet potatoes with cornbread. He wanted sweet tea, but they were out so we both got the Kool-Aid and the flavor was tropical punch I would assume. Everyone was friendly and accommodating with all my questions. You know from my previous reviews if you can't give me the time to answer my allergy questions then you probably can't take the time to take my money either so I'm not going to eat there. But not the case here. I found that they have beef ribs as well as pork, ribs, and short rib ribs. They have turkey, bacon and chicken, bacon and regular. Shrimp. So those would be the proteins that I can have being gluten-free. Oxtails and any other meat that comes with a sauce or gravy would contain flour. So I could have the shrimp and grits for example. But it's nice to know that I can also get some ribs since I don't eat pork. They also have turkey sausage. The catfish was seasoned great & fried perfectly. My husband felt robbed in that there should've been more fish. As we have experienced more from for example, from a soulful restaurant in Hawaii for about the same price with same two sides as recently as January 2026. We hit that restaurant multiple times while we were in Hawaii because of the portions and the flavor. I felt that the sides were plentiful as they did fill the to go three part container up above the top threshold, which was awesome. So not stingy with the sides. They are also mindful that the juices from the sides could run over into the catfish area and make it soggy so they put parchment paper around the catfish so that when juices go over into that section it does not come in contact with the fish. That is very thoughtful. The collard greens were good. Might need a little more salt or garlic but that's me and how I cook. The sweet potato rounds remind me of the picsweet sweet potato rounds that you can buy versus buying the canned sweet potatoes or using fresh sweet potatoes and then adding your own butter and seasoning to them. I say that because the sweet potato had some kind of aftertaste that I can't put my finger on what that flavor was, but for me it was offputting so I probably won't order those again. My husband, however, felt that he could deal with it. He also tasted the aftertaste of some ingredients that was not cinnamon or nutmeg or butter or sugar, but he would order them again. He really did like the mac & cheese a lot so it's good that they put plenty in the container for him. I of course couldn't have any so I'm going off of his review of that. The Kool-Aid was definitely sweet not white on the "liquid crack" level, but definitely not watered down. If it was any more sweeter, it would definitely be my mom's. So good job done there. They were out of the sweet tea so we will have to try that next time. The restaurant is pretty large in that the tables were spaced out across the area so there would be plenty of space between you and tables. They do have some booths in there. Three flatscreen TVs but only two were on at the time that we came through there. The table that we sat at to wait for our to go order was sticky clean but sticky I didn't go around to test the other tables which I could have because we were the only ones in the restaurant besides a DoorDasher. So I'm hoping that they just didn't clean that one as well versus sticky tables all around. But for cleanliness at first look, it is clean. We came just as the transition from brunch to dinner at 3:00 PM so they did have food in the display area, but catfish was not there so we got ours fresh. They did get the sweet potatoes and the mac & cheese from the displayed containers under the heat lamps they take all forms of payment, including tap and pay. So all in all the experience was good for the most part and we will go back to try other foods so we can review those as far as I can go being gluten-free.

The employee shook his head to indicate they were closed. It took a few weeks but I made my back on Thursday afternoon. And the experience was solid. I started with the chips and salsa. I'm noticing a trend of some places charging for their chips and salsa. What's weird is the places with the most authentic chips often have one complimentary basket. And places like this with a price tag have the store bought variety. But the salsas were delicious (and the hot was even spicy!). I asked for a second mild salsa since the containers were pretty small. The tacos were good. I went for a carne asada and a Birria. The carne asada was on point. Hot and tasty without being salty. The Birria was a bit dry. The cheese helped a little. I removed one of the tortillas and dipped it in the salsas to get a little moisture to it. It made me wonder if consommé is not a norm for Birria. The restaurant was spotless and very nicely apportioned. Lots of seating for a place that looks so small from the outside.

The pictures online looked amazing, the menu looked streamlined and neat. Upon entering it is a super cute place and decorated very nicely. We enjoyed the artwork on display. Everything looked nice and clean, 8/10. Service was attentive and great. She was very quick and polite. No complaints here whatsoever! The food.... We were going to order calamari ($20) to start, but they were out. That's OK! No big deal. I decided we could just start with chips and salsa. This is not a free with your meal chips and salsa like other places but it's a reasonable $5. We received a big basket of tortillas and I enjoyed both red red mild and green hot salsas. The chips were good too. I ordered the chalupa plate ($21) and it came with two chalupas filled with chicken/potato and a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were good. I liked that it was refried black beans. I got through my first chalupa, moving the lettuce aside to check it out. I noticed my chicken was pre-packed type chicken slices. You know, the kind with "grill" marks you find at Costco that are ready for salads and already cooked. My heart sank. For the price point I was seriously expecting more. It is not difficult to roast chicken fresh and shred it for dishes... My partner ordered the burrito special ($25) and while it was a MASSIVE thing that could feed you 3x easily it was subpar to him he told me later in the car. While I did not partake in dessert I did check out the little menu on the table. While I know the odds of desserts being made in house are low, I always hope so. The desserts here are from Sweet Street Desserts which is a wholesale chain, so I passed. I'm sure they are tasty, but just not for me when going out to eat. Unfortunately I don't think this place is worth the cost of the food vs the quality. They would need to up their food quality and freshness game to bring us back...

When my husband ordered a beer it was fine but I ordered a Rum Punch and the three behind the bar took maybe 5 minutes or more just to start making it and then looked like the three stooges trying to make it. Even as an infrequent drinker I can still tell you how to make a rum punch so it shocked me that they not only needed a recipe book to make it but they also kept going back to it over and over. After the bartender who I didn't order it from finally finished it, they carried it away because they didn't realize that I was the one who ordered it. When they finally realized what they had done and I had it in my hand it was unbelievably strong. Consistency is so important for bartenders because patrons should be able to order the same drink at different bars without having to guess how it will taste. Overall I would say that if that was hotel staff lending a hand then it was nice of them to do that but they shouldn't quit their day jobs, but if that was their actual bar staff then they should go back to bartending school.
