Their 和菜 is as little as $11 an item, with an exception of few times! Please note that this is a stall within a food court, it is not a sit down restaurant.

I don't live close to this food court. I was also recommended it by my friends. If you want "AUTHENTIC" Chinese food experience, I highly suggest coming here! You'll think you've passed through a wormhole and landed in China directly, because the vibe is so...China Although the vendors in this food court are selling Cantonese food, you'll get what I mean. The dish I ordered was something with beef, mushrooms, onions, and rice. I don't recall the name of the dish, but it was sooo Delicious! It was full of wok-hei, even my 2-year-old son enjoyed it and gave it a It is not a high-end, cozy, or beautiful place that you want to share the environment on social media. However, I think it is a kind place. Within CA$7, you can get a decent and tasty meal. You might even have leftovers and have it the next day. I truly believe it saves a lot of families who are struggling. Those families might not be that broken and need to go to food banks to get free food, but still having a hard time living in Toronto. I feel grateful to have this kind of food court

Congee is a bit bland, but it's nice to have when you feel like something warm. The wonton noodles are alright as well, it isn't as good as the specialty stores that sell wonton noodles only, I think it is the soup base, it's not the one I am used to that gives me the satisfaction of knowing this is a well made wonton noodle. The service isn't quick, but it isn't slow either, it's just in between. The glass window they have is really nice to watch while you are waiting for your food as they fry the bread dough in from of you. Definitely a good place for a quick lunch or takeout, lots of selections and sometimes can get busy. The cashier is usually pretty nice there, it's can get busy at times.

Known for their Soup 湯 , Congee 粥品 , Steamed Rice Rolls 腸粉 , Snacks 小食 , Noodles 麵食 , and Lo Mein 撈麵。 Though I've had better 油條 Youtiao, this fried dough stick was denser dough, and it was one of the better items ordered that went well with 艇仔粥 Assorted Congee. Assorted Congee Combo comes with Steamed Radish Cake 艇仔粥 + 蒸蘿蔔糕。Assorted Congee had beef, pork, shredded squid, peanut, green onion and lettuce 碎牛肉, 豬肉, 魷魚絲, 花生, 蔥及生菜絲。 The Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup 淨水餃 麵湯 tastes homemade and didn't taste like it was overly flavoured which was nice for a change. If you prefer more seasonings they have chilli oil, salt, white pepper, hot sauce, soy sauce and hoisin sauce, which you can add to your taste. The Sesame Seed Ball (Jian Dui) 煎堆 was huge and it came directly from being fried so it was nice and puffy. The Steamed Shrimp Rice Roll sprinkled with sesame seeds 蝦米腸粉 撒有芝麻 was quite tasty. Cash only.

But to…read moretell you the truth, the food court was a bit of a dump back in the day. 20+ years later, it's even more so. And if you can deal with the dirty tables and the occasional stench (I guess I've been desensitized having spent enough time in HK and China) there are a few decent budget food options here. De Ke Yi being one of them. De Ke Yi actually opened after I ended my volunteering involvement at this plaza, so I can't say I've frequented their business many times. Of the few times I've been there, I got the pig's liver rice roll. And they never disappoint. For $5, you get an honest portion and quality food. The rice batter has a good chew to it and a nice rice taste. The pork liver was marinated properly where you will get a slight chewy crunch and no funny porky taste. I don't recall getting anything else from them, but I can't see how you could go wrong with any of their rice rolls. If you can turn a blind eye to the dining hygiene and environment or is totally content with taking out, De Ke Yi is a great option for Canto food lovers!

Who is rating this place so high??? I definitely DON'T recommend the wonton noodles or congee…read more Be aware the wonton noodles are not egg noodles but and wontons don't have any shrimp in them, just pork. The broth had a gingery dishwasher soap quality to them I couldn't even finish half of it. Maybe I was supposed to use all the condiments to make my own broth?? 1/5 Congee is literally water and rice that's been boiled for a few minutes. We got the century egg/pork congee and the only flavour that came through was cilantro. 1/5 Edit: I'm learning this is a specific regions style of congee. My bad but my taste review still stands. On to the decent stuff. I should probably give them more credit for rice rolls, they're above average and have lots of different options. The rice rolls themselves weren't silky like some other places (sam's congee) but still good. Fillings were ok, nothing notable about the char siu one were good. If you must come here, I'd recommend rice rolls. 4/5 I thought the ox tongue pastry was good (light, pillowy, crispy outside) but my wife is the expert in this and she said she would have liked it to be chewier but still good overall. 4/5 The other nice thing about this place is complementary soy milk. Tastes better than supermarket stuff. I'm giving it 3/5 total because for everything we got it was still only $20ish and the rice rolls saved it, kind of. Was hoping the hole in the wall would be a hidden gem but it can stay hidden imo. Great if you're on a budget or only want rice rolls, otherwise just go to another place with a higher floor for flavour.
