We stopped in for a quick meal before our musical on a blistery winter day and Saigon PAI was the perfect choice for our dinner. We ordered our usual rare beef pho (5/5), grilled pork chop rice dinner (5/5) and lemongrass chicken (4/5). The nutty house chili oil that was on the table was 15/10 and seriously elevated my lemongrass chicken to another level. The service here is efficient and thoughtful. The dining room was on the larger side, but wasn't too busy on a Saturday night. We would come back to eat here when we're back in the area. I have to admit I was impressed with this spot serving up Thai and viet cuisine. Sometimes restaurants have too many items on the menu but this is a good size considering it's 2 different cuisines. I've ordered from this place for many years, and never for some reason, have i ordered their PHO. This time around, i ordered their rare beef version and was very surprised how good that broth was, it was pretty fantastic. I was expecting pretty good to decent, but i have to say that broth was pretty great, i'll definitely order that again! my only issue with this place is how the prices have gotten really high, a large bowl of pho delivered was $22 + tax! whoa! 2 spring rolls were almost $10! The food is so delicious, I couldn't wait for it to cool off before I dug in. I burned the roof of my mouth. Worth it!!!! The chicken spring rolls are great. The red curry was perfection. This is a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant. The interior is quite spacious and clean. The food is quite good and the service is courteous and attentive. We ordered the following (i included the menu item number): A1. Chicken Spring Rolls (3 for $7.99). A14. Mango Salad ($11.99). S6. Bun Reu ($15.99). Crab meatloaf, pork soft bone, tofu, pork sausages, tomatoes, shrimp paste, and vermicelli. B3. Bun Ga Nuong ($13.99). Rice vermicelli and grilled chicken. T3. Pineapple Fried Rice ($16.99). T4. Green Curry ($15.99) substitute Beef (+$2.99). D5. Jackfruit Smoothie ($7.50). The Spring Rolls were crispy and fresh. The Mango Salad comes with shrimp chips that are super delicious, the best I've had in years! I usually order a Green Curry because I love to spread it over rice. It definitely did not disappoint.  I had lots of it. The grilled chicken in the Bun Ga Nuong was tender and delicious. The Ben Reu had a great mix of ingredients. Went in with a craving for Vietnamese food, but ended up satisfying my Thai food craving instead. Didn't even realize they had Thai food as well, but I guess the 'Pai' in the name gave it away. Ended up going with the Beef Khao Soi and it might be my new favourite Khao Soi in the city (now that my favourite spot closed down). Plenty of beef in the Khao Soi and the broth was rich and creamy, plus it was served in a large pho bowl. Wish they had the Asian-style soup spoons instead of the western-style soup spoons though. Will definitely be back and happy to have this spot within walking distance of me. read more

This place is unique for it's combination of Thai & Vietnamese mixed menu (not a fusion restaurant). The menu has changed a bit since the last time I was here (seems like there are less pho options) - I usually get rare beef. The meat was average (a bit dry and not too soft), noodles are stuck together but overall it's a good bowl of pho. We came around noon for lunch and it wasn't busy, food arrived quickly! read more

Wow I'm so impressed that I would travel 3km out of my way during a snowy winter night to eat here again. Originally didn't expect much authenticity out of a fusion place BUT i was wrong bc this place is bomb. A clean, well-decorated space, with string lights, hanging bulbs, and artsy paintings. A well-lit bar takes place at the right side of the restaurant for those wanting a quiet night of drinks. Upon arrival you're given a soothing pot of jasmine tea. Really just what we needed after a long trek in the snow. "Hands down the best tea ever"; bae and I nodded to each other as we took sips of the warming goodness. (now i know that's weird cuz tea is tea right BUT they really make it well here??? Try it) We went to the booth seating and got the bun rieu and the classic pho dac biet beef pho noodle soup. Ahh hearty and delicious. Ever since reading about bun rieu one time in a blogto article I have been craving to try the crab and shrimp paste tomato-y goodness. It's so good!! I actually have a medium intensity crustacean shellfish allergy but it doesn't stop me from eating lobster, crab, and shrimp (I have reactine and am willing to withstand the discomfort thereafter). The beef pho soup tastes beefier than most other places. It's also more acidic which opens up the appetite. The large portion is very generous and they definitely don't skimp out on the beef toppings. I went into Saigon Pai very tired after no sleep and wanted a quick meal in my belly before I went to bed. I left Saigon Pai feeling reborn, energized, satisfied and content. I had leftovers later in the night but the cold bun rieu was still very tasty and not oily at all which is surprising given that past pho takeouts were meh after a few hours BUT not this place! It's the dedication to details that completes the 5 star rating. I noticed how the forks and knives are wrapped in napkin sets for people who don't prefer using chopsticks. Also the complimentary tea with your own teapot is a nice touch because it allows you to drink at your own pace. Also appreciate them packing my leftover bun rieu for me b/c i'd have spilled it lol. I came here with a friend for dinner while in the area - she had recommended me to come here since I had not been to this location before. I was very impressed with the overall quality of the food, as well as how friendly the service was, and how clean the interior was too. I also loved how they had both chopsticks and Western-style cuisine available at all tables - a very thoughtful touch. The pineapple fried rice I ordered from here, as well as their mango salad, was all very well made and I was left wanting to order more food. After walking by a few times and thinking why don't they have any kind of indication outside if they are even open, or what they style of ordering they are into. Seeing someone head in with a bag bursting full of baguettes, I started salivating and had to go in. It's quite a big open space inside, and they now have a rona counter set up as you enter with plenty of space to distance if another customer or delivery person crowds you from behind. Service was hella friendly and casual, and even offered for me to wait inside on a cold and windy March noon hour. "No thanks, I'll be back in 10 minutes", and I was outside stretching my legs. I ordered the Bun Bo Nuong Cha Gio (Rice vermicelli with grilled beef & spring roll). This is a classic dish I've had a few times before; sort of like the pad thai of Vietnamese cuisine. The vermicelli was done perfectly and the sprouts hiding underneath were fresh and crunchy. The Viet sauce that you pour over was tangy and sweet as well. I do miss the random pieces of mint leaves and red chilis available when you dine in but this was a perfect meal to satisfy my Vietnamese food cravings. Then there was the grilled beef, and omg was it good, sitting there, all aromatic and covered with peanuts. Absolutely fabulous flavour and texture, and the smell was out-of-this-world good! Right to the last bite I was shutting my eyes savouring the grilled flavour. Nice portion size too, not skimpy at all. This was delicious - so delicious it was all eaten before a photo was taken. We shared the Beef Sate Ribs and Chicken Pad Thai. This was a really good combo because the Beef Sate Ribs was all protein and veggies. I would recommend getting a side of rice or the Pad Thai if you get the ribs. Both dishes were very filling. The Beef Sate veggies were cooked just right (not too cooked or too raw), and the beef ribs were juicy with a bit of fat (mmmm). Pad Thai was thick and nicely seasoned. I will definitely have this again! Also, I think that the menu pics posted are a bit of date, so might be worth going in and seeing latest menu. One more quick note about delivery - I think they only have 1 delivery driver and we weren't able to get delivery from the business when we called. I found this place in Uber Eats after being mostly half- satisfied from the takeout Viet food options in the city. Saigon Pai has winning dishes all around. The grilled pork had all lean pieces and were very tender. The spring rolls arrive very very crispy, as if you were enjoying it fresh in the restaurant. And, the salad was extremely fresh and perfectly complements each bite of bun. I saw someone else's review of the Vietnamese iced coffee and I have to say this is the best one that I've ever had. Lastly, the pad thai was also a hit. The portions were so big, I'm saving it for another meal :) I would highly recommend Saigon Pai. All around great takeout experience. read more

There's a lot of competition for Thai and South East Asian food on this street so you'll have a lot of different options if you're in this area. We got take out and the packaging was appropriate for the Khao Soi and Green Curry that we picked up. They were a bit late from the original stated time for pickup but it wasn't more than 10 minutes extra after we went to pick up the food. The green curry was spicy and there was a lot of protein in both of the dishes which made the value for money part pretty high. Green Curry with Beef: The curry was aromatic and really smooth. Beef was good quality as well. But the overall taste was really freaking salty. 2. Chicken Spring Rolls: Still the best in the GTA. I will definitely trek back during summer time for this (keep in mind it takes me 40ish minute to walk from Eatons Centre) 3. Grilled Chicken & Rice: The chicken was so so so so good. Grilled to perfection without being dry. Great portions as well. 4. Vietnamese Ice Tea: Strong a f but a little too sweet. My mom loved this. But they ran out when my boyfriend wanted to order it a little later. The service was good but the food does take a while to come out with gaps in between each dish. My friends raved about this place. We got a huge take out order which took forever (almost an hour)! The food was mostly good, however the mango sticky rice which I got 2 of was definitely subpar. As you can see from my picture the underside of the mango was going bad, no flavour in the sticky rice and they didn't even give us coconut cream for the dessert. Shocked and genuinely surprised this place doesn't have hundreds of reviews. This time of year the weather often has me feeling glum and I crave a good hearty bowl of pho. I have travelled to Vietnam, south east Asia etc and this pho was by far in my top 5. The broth was aromatic and seasoned perfectly. The beef was tender and perfectly portioned. We are very fortunate in Toronto to have the most amazing Vietnamese/Thai restaurants and Saigon Pai is just as FANTASTIC as Pai, Sukhothai, Isaan Der and more. I am a huge fan of their appetizers (fresh rolls, chicken spring rolls, vegetable spring rolls, etc) as they're always so fresh tasting. Their mains are also delicious (pad thai, pho, khao soi, etc) and the food is great value. All of their mains are under $16 and leave me very satisfied at the end with their generous portions. I'm giving Saigon Pai 3.5 stars because during COVID, it's challenging to get a true sense of a restaurant you've never been in otherwise! First of all, I am ALL for social distancing. All for handwashing. All about staying home 99% of the time. However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to support my favourite local business (or really, any local businesses) as long as I have the means to. And that was what happened with Saigon Pai. My current fav pho place, Pho Tien Thanh, is closed, so we wanted to support another local pho establishment and get some takeout. Saigon Pai had an excellent sanitizing set up - staff in gloves, hand sanitizer, and they wiped down the card machine before and after use. It was a bit odd bringing pho home - it needed to be microwaved to ensure the broth was hot enough to 'cook' the beef - but it was really delicious. Broth was a bit sweet, which I enjoy, and overall, my boyfriend and I were big fans. I hope I'm able to support Saigon Pai when they re-open and get the full experience. Until then, I would definitely recommend supporting them by ordering take out! read more

I again got take out last night and ordered the same thing as usual and I was totally disappointed with the Vietnamese spring rolls, it looked as if it came from a frozen boxes from a Chinese supermarket. All the Thai and Viet dishes here are great! I haven't been let down by any. I live in Regent Park and it's nice to have a local spot that I can order soul-warming Pho and Khao Soi from. Pho: broth is delicious. Bun rieu: 9.5/10 bc my mother-in-law's is 10/10 Any of the Buns (vermicelli with veggies and meat of your choice): 10/10 Chicken wings 10/10 are extra crispy and have a nice asian seasoning to them. Shrimp spring rolls are also extra crispy. Khao soi 10/10 is flavourful and perfect spice level. If you'd like more spice I'm sure they'd oblige. It is my favourite Khao soi in the city. Pad Thai is also good, although I prefer saucier dishes like Panang curry. Friendly owner and staff. There's a patio out front too now with Covid-19 precautions.
