This place delivered a meal bursting with bold, authentic flavour. Every dish came out aromatic, colourful, and clearly made with care. The curries were rich and silky, the noodles had that perfect depth, and the herbs and spices came through beautifully without overpowering the dish. Portions were generous, the seasoning was on point, and the whole experience felt warm and satisfying. It's the kind of spot that hits the craving for real Thai comfort food , flavourful, fresh, and made with intention. A solid go‑to when you want Thai food that actually tastes like something.
The food was so bomb here! Great pad sew ee, calamari and mango slaw. Great spice and flavor! I'll definitely be back.
One of my go-to Thai spots! I love their pineapple fried rice, and my friend always gets the pad thai. We've tried a few other dishes too and everything has been consistently good. The traditional decor gives it nice atmosphere, and service is always friendly. Definitely a place i keep coming back to
A pretty good spot for Thai food in Markham. I came here on a Saturday afternoon in January without a reservation, and we were seated right away. On this day they were training a lot of new people so the service was a little bit slow but definitely still friendly. We were a group of three and we ordered the following: - Famous Pad Thai with Chicken - Pad Ki Maw with Chicken - Spicy Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken - Thai Iced Teas The food itself was pretty good, however the Pad Ki Maw was definitely different from any other Thai restaurant I have ordered it from. As in, it didn't have any Thai Basil at all. I also asked two servers about it, and they both told me that this dish does not come with Thai Basil, and that it would overpower the dish if it did. The highlight of our experience was how quickly the food was made and brought to our table. It was honestly pretty impressive. Service for other things like water refills, order updates and the bill were a bit slower than expected. Overall, it was a pretty good first experience. however, I don't think this will be my first choice for Thai restaurant anytime soon.
We loved it so much that we returned again yesterday for a lunch date. Jeremiah and Molly took great care of us, and once again the food was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. We had the tom kha soup and the pineapple fried rice, and both were excellent. Two visits in, and this place has definitely earned our recommendation. We'll absolutely be back. - - - - It was an absolute treat visiting this restaurant on our trip from Texas to celebrate my husbands birthday with family. We were amazed with the service provided by Kevin and the entire staff, the location is clean, presentation of the food and the food is finger licking good. We had their pineapple fried rice, basil fried rice, chicken satay and pad ke mow! Everything was delicious and we cannot wait to be back to visit. Also, a plus point...this place is HALAL! See yall soon!!!

Ok first off, the resto needs to remove the "Reserve a table" button off google when people search because it doesn't work lool. I've tried booking a day in advance, a week in advance and a month in advance and it ALWAYS tells me there are no tables available (doesn't matter what time). Basically, you gotta call their number physically and make reservations so keep that in mind. Food was good! I think their pad thai is the best uptown and competes w/ the likes of downtown stalwarts (Pai, Si Lom, Khao San Road, Nana). The islamic noodles were tasty but had more of a khao soi soup consistency. I was expecting it to be more gravy-like and thicker. My gf and I slightly prefer the islamic noodles over at Koh Lipe more because of the more tomato-ey flavour profile. The panang curry was rich and I could really taste the coconut milk coming through but we felt that they could've given us more chicken. It was 75% a veggie curry with a couple slices of chicken added in which was a lil bit disappointing. The portion size as a whole was decent. Portion sizes are solid. Service is excellent. Will be back to try some other dishes (I saw some unique ones that piqued my interest).
3.5 stars. Located on the southwest corner of Kennedy and 14th Ave. There is some parking but the lot fills up quickly and the drivers are from another planet with no driving skills. The food is ok, nothing great but not bad. The plating is nice and very photogenic... The seating is more like a market environment and not for a quiet time to have discussions in. There are booths and tables but lack privacy. The service could be a little better as I felt rushed to go but when requesting for any item takes a few tries to flag down the server and remind them of the items missing. I prefer the Avenue Road location as the setup and service are much better

I had the drunken noddles Thai hot and they were both spicy and flavorful. Everything comes out with a beautiful presentation. It's like a piece of art. The sticky rice and mango I've never seen one like that before. It was Soo pretty and tasted fresh. The only reason it's not 5 star is I felt the service was a little rude at times.
The parking lot here can get busy and spots are a little tight, as the plaza has a few food spots and the popular Lucullus bakery. Upon entering as a walk-in for a weekend lunch, my husband and I were seated promptly after a 5min wait time for the table. This was my third time here for dine-in as the flavour and presentation has been consistent overall. My favourites are the sweet potato fritters and khao soi noodles. I would come back to try the mango sticky rice, which looked amazing at the next table! Service is good, food comes quickly but if you need to catch the attention of a server after placing your order then expect some delay during the mealtime rush hour. As a casual date spot, this is a good spot for conversation and family friendly for kids as well. Note: I have gotten takeout from here once and was surprised that the pad see ew tasted extremely salty, but never had that problem previously for dine-in.
I was already impressed with my first visit to this Thai restaurant at the North York location, so when I found out there's a Markham location, I knew I had to try. All the dishes we ordered were so flavourful, the presentation was on point, and considering the portion and how much protein was included in each dish, the prices were very reasonable. We tried dishes with curry flavour, Tom yum flavour, and soy sauce flavour, and honestly I couldn't pick a fav cause they were all so good and different! The mild spice level was also perfect with just a little kick. I would highly recommend this restaurant and make sure to make a reservation. We came on a Monday night and it was almost fully packed! This was our second visit to this Thai restaurant, and once again, we were impressed by the food! The dishes were beautifully presented, well-seasoned, and full of flavour. We started with the Thai Calamari, and oh boy--it was so tasty! The special blend of spices gave it a really delicious kick. The Pad Thai with Shrimp was another highlight. It came with plenty of shrimp and was packed with flavour. We also ordered the Thai Fresh Rolls, which were filled with lots of fresh vegetables and no meat. They were light, refreshing, and a great way to start the meal. Six huge rolls came in the order, so there was plenty to share. And of course, we couldn't skip dessert! The Mango Sticky Rice was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. It was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The service was okay, but the interior is quite outdated and could definitely use some refreshing. Overall, we would happily come back for the food. If we lived closer, we would probably visit much more often--but honestly, we'd be coming back mainly for the food! read more
We went for my husband's birthday. I love Thai cuisine so much. He was ok with that, but today he was so satisfied. I made a reservation 2 hours before we decided to go. We were late 15 mins and they called to follow up. We got a booth seats. It's really cozy. It's sports pub style, especially now FIFA World Cup happening. We took a little bit time to figure out the menu. The Khao Soi with egg noodles was so popular, it's curry sauce with your choice of meat. And Green curry with Rice was good too. I love Green Curry because it has bamboo shoots. They were both really tasty, and the curry comes with Jasmine rice in heart shaped. We also ordered a kid meal, included main dish as our choice of deep fried Fish, drink as Lychee Juice and the dessert as Mango Ice Cream. We got the cheese cake as my husband's birthday gift on the house. They also sang a birthday song to him. So impressive with all these. We really love to come here again. read more

We had an amazing experience! Everything we ordered was really presented well and tasted wonderful, I would recommend their calamari and fried chicken and the pad thai. The stir fry was a bit overwhelming in taste though but was still good! read more

Update recent visit. We came here with my wife's family. We recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is not very big. The food was really good and presentation on point. Nice heart-shaped mold for the jasmine rice. Royal pad thai and the Drunken noodles were really good. Nice diverse flavors. Medium spice is the right level for these noodles. The pineapple fried rice with beef was a masterpiece and almost every table ordered it The service was nice. They used an iPad to enter the orders. The food came out pretty fast. Crispy chicken was addictive. It's kind of like a Thai version of chicken karaage. Nice ambiance and bright dining space. I have referred lots of family and friends to eat here. Definitely try this restaurant if you're looking for some elevated Thai food with beautiful presentation. read more

One of the best Thai food spots that I've had. Prior to visiting this restaurant I had believed that I was not a fan of Thai food and they proved me wrong. I had the Red Curry and the Shrimp Pad Thai. Both were great and the staff was friendly. The inside is set up nicely to dine in as well. Would recommend to anyone trying to have good Thai food. read more
This restaurant is located in a small plaza which is very hard to find parking especially during lunchtime as a lot of spots are reserved. I came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy but luckily we didn't have to wait for long to get a table. I ordered the pad thai w/beef (mild) and a Thai iced tea. My friend got the khao Soi, and we shared a sweet potato fritter. The pad thai was very flavorful and saucey. I loved it however I think it was a bit pricey for $21 The sweet potato fritter was extremely crunchy, I wasn't a big fan of it as I got really thirsty after eating it. Overall, the service and food was great. The waitress was tentative to our needs. It's a nice restaurant with nice decor. The only downside of it is it's usually hard to find parking. Seems to be the same or sister chain as Chiang Mai! One of my favourite Thai spots... Overall: 4.5/5 Food: Beef Salad - 4.5/5 so flavourful for a salad, I loved it. Tender and juicy beef with the lettuce made it a great balance. Coconut rice 4.5/5 I love coconut rice with my food and they did it just with the right amount of sweetness! Khao soi with beef 4/5 very flavourful and tender beef; the sauce was delicious, would definitely recommend it. Green curry: 4/5 very tasty and one of the better green curries I've had in Toronto. Pineapple fried rice: 4.5/5 love the aesthetic and flavour of this dish! Went so nicely together with the subtle sweetness of the pineapple along with cashews and chicken. Service: 5/5 very friendly and patient staff. We stayed a while and nobody rushed or kicked us out. Ambiance: 5/5 Authentic vibe and just a perfect ambiance for Thai food! read more

Pretty good and cozy Thai spot in Markham. Service was quick and they were attentive. Food was also tasty. We ordered pad kra pao, pad Thai, and khao soi along with a few drinks. The drinks were a bit sweet for my taste but they were not bad. The kra pao was a bit salty but had a good flavour to it. I was hoping for more basil though. The pad Thai and khao soi were decent. Overall, the experience was great and would definitely visit this place again. read more
4.5 - My partner and I love Thai food and so we were excited to try this spot. We got the mango salad as app, pad kee mao and tom yum pad thai. When the order came, we noticed that we were given pad see ew instead of pad kee mao but it was fine, we still enjoyed it. For the tom yum pad thai, it was PACKED with so much flavour, like a lot! At the beginning, I enjoyed it very much but as I kept eating it, I found it a bit too overwhelming. Pad see ew was great. We got spicy for both and they for sure delivered that spice. Mango salad was good, great portion. I would love to try their pad kee mao next time! read more
Thai Cuisine with upbeat atmosphere, transforming your experience to one of south east Asia. I've never been to Thailand but I've seen many YouTube videos and consumed enough social media to know that Thailand is a hustling and bustling country. Like Vietnam you've got the sounds of scooters scooting, vendors selling, cars passing and people trying to make a living on a daily basis. The restaurant is busy, Monday evening nonetheless and it is packed at 7:30 in the evening. Diverse crowds are in the space and the aroma of lemongrass fills the air. Service was exceptional. Our hostess initially seated us at a tiny table for the 5 of us but gladly accommodated us when we asked to move to a bigger table. Food: Rich, creamy, crunchy, aromatic, spicy, sweet, flavourful. Tom Yum soup: portion was on the smaller side for our table but enough to share since we ordered many dishes. Broth was flavorful and very aromatic. Good combination of sour and sweet (but more so on the sweet side). Preference personally is more of a combination of more sour than sweet is what I'm used to (maybe I've never eaten authentic thai but I love sour notes) as a Spicy beef salad: beef was well seasoned and marinated, the presentation of the dish was very well plated. The salad was a spring mix which I enjoyed but felt something lackluster in this dish. Panang curry with Beef- good balance and blend of flavours and aromatics. The amount of herbs used was enough and the portion for this dish to share was similar to the Tom yum soup. Dish is paired with steamed white rice. Chicken wings - crunchy, hot from the deep fryer, no need to dip in the sauces it comes with as the wings are juicy and flavorful enough on their own. Khao soi shrimp - rich and creamy with the use of the coconut oil. The noodles were chewy, presentation was very well done and the thickness of the dish was a nice contrast to the other dishes we ordered. *this dish is super rich. It will fill you up just be mindful if you want to try other dishes! Pineapple fried rice - my favorite of the evening. The wok hay and essence of the flame can be tasted through each bite of the rice. Smoky and aromatic. Balanced. Salty. Hostess was right this is a fan favorite. I'll come back to try the pad thai and pad see ew and the other dishes but overall great experience read more
3.5/5. Came as a group of 3 and we ordered 2 apps and 2 mains. It was more than enough food and we even had leftovers. The apps were ok meaning nothing stood out. The spring rolls were freshly fried and crunchy but the filling was bland. There was nothing special to the chicken satay either. The mains were delicious though, Islamic noodles and tofu/vegetable fried rice. Great presentation and every bite had amazing flavour. Each dish had a little kick to it spice wise and the hot sauce on the side was very tasty as well. The complaint I have is the service. When we called to inquire about making a reservation/ walking in, the person who answered the phone was very rude. In addition, it felt like they were rushing us in and out. Reminding us of the 1 hour and 20 min seating limit. I understand it's busy but good service is apart of dining in. The food was good but I'm not sure I'll be back, considering there's many good Thai places with better service out there. read more

Have yet to actually eat in but I can speak on the takeout! I get the tofu and vegetables pad see ew and tom kha and it's incredible. i will say i've had more flavourful pad see ew but this place hits the spot! the tom kha is sweet and sour and so fragrant. definitely my favourite takeout. read more

Chiang Rai is one of Markham's most popular Thai restaurants. The restaurant itself looks like a tropical paradise, with beautiful murals and pops of colour here and there. Service is good, however I did come once and I think the server forgot about my food, and I ended up waiting almost an hour to eat while all my friends got their dishes. However, this thing happens from time to time so this incident is not an indicator of their service as a whole! I've been here a few times and nothing has ever missed so far. This time, we ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Shrimp Pad Thai, as well as Thai Iced Tea. Both Pad Thais were ordered mild, but it was still pretty spicy (my spice tolerance has become pretty low though)! Amazing flavour, with some added crunchiness from the peanuts. Also thankful that they provide lime for an added element of tanginess! Portions are quite large as well, I'm always taking almost have of the plate home! The Thai Iced Tea was decent, on the sweeter side for my taste. Next time I'll definitely be ordering some of the side dishes to try out! This place does Thai food justice! Especially for those who have never had Thai before, I think Chiang Rai is a good place to start. Can't go wrong with a classic Pad Thai! read more

It has been a year since we last visited. This restaurant is always popular and was full tonight. There was a queue waiting in front of us, but we were lucky to get seated quite quickly. Overall the servers were attentive, efficient and polite, we were offered water and menu once seated. However waiting time for food was a bit long and the dishes didn't come continuously, we finished one dish and had to seat and wait for another dish to come, but the server noticed this and followed up for us. Dishes are nicely garnished, but still the pad thai was soaked with tamarind sauce. The bbq chicken satay together with the peanut sauce was good, the beef salad, the basil chicken fried rice were also fresh & tasty. The ambiance was good and we had a good dining experience. It's hard to get authentic Thai food in Toronto but Chiang Rai fares better than many of its counterparts. read more

Always a treat to be here! Love their service and food - if you like spicy food, definitely go for their thai spicy level so you can taste the authentic flavour of Thai pad thai! I also like their calamari for appetizers and this time around a friend tried their tom yum pad thai and it was equally good. Must visit Thai restaurant in Markham. :) read more

On a Friday night, we waited patiently over a hour for a table for 3...luckily we had a great experience so it was worth the wait! Be sure to make reservations as this place seems to be always busy. I did call to make reservations but they said that they didn't take reservations for less than 4 people. I only found out when I got there that you could make reservations online so I'll definitely book a table in advance next time. We came here craving for curry and we were very satisfied with both the Green curry chicken and Panang curry beef. My fav dish was the Royal Pad Thai which was quite flavourful with glass noodles. I much preferred this noodle dish over the rice noodles which they had as well called Famous Pad Thai. We really enjoyed all the Thai food so we'll definitely be back. read more
Location/Service This place is right in the corner plaza of Kennedy and 14th Ave. Because there are other restaurants within the plaza, parking can be very limited. Interior is pretty modern - similar layout and feel to other modern style Thai restaurants. Service was great, staff were friendly - in particular for take outs, which was very organized and easy to order/pick up. Food I've been to this place a few times for take out mostly - during the pandemic they had pretty good deals. A few items I would reco is their Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. It's very flavourful and very good portion size. For takeout, you can choose your choice of protein - whether it's soy or chicken or beef or seafood - that is extra, so just need to note. Their mango sticky rice is also good if you like desserts - again, good portion size. With inflation, prices have gone up a bit for this place - so a standard meal is almost $20. I do think it's worth it based on the solid consistency and portion size. Indoor dining is always a bit of a wait, so I usually opt for take out if you feel it's easier! read more
