One dealership had a nice 2011 with a 19,900 price tag but as soon as I started to negotiate on it, the 3 year warranty came out plus the warranty /insurance on the catalytic convertor. Now the price was $25k! including gst if yu did a cash deal. I left empty handed. I saw Jacky's advert on KIJIJI and went to look at it and it was good. No pressure and a straight forward process. The best thing was he didn't push a warranty and other hidden charges on me. He did offer a 3rd party warranty if I was interested, but that was it. The car only came with one key, and Jacky offered to get a second one made up for me at no charge. I really enjoyed the experiance with Platinum Fine Cars and I would reccomend them to anyone wanting a hassle free experiance.

I've experienced them all multiple times and I'm sorry to say but it's amazing how the stereotypes of a sleazy car salesman are alive and well in the industry.... That being said - I actually ENJOYED the experience of buying my Honda Civic at Platinum Fine Cars today! Jacky and Jacky were a complete breath of fresh air.. there were no "salesman lines" no sheisty hooks.. just 2 genuine, knowledgeable, and friendly professionals. I will recommend this establishment above all others to anyone looking to buy a used vehicle, hands down. Not a massive selection albeit a quality selection which I would take any day. Make this your first stop. I have faith that these men will not let you down.. worst case, you drive away empty handed with a renewed faith in the used car buying experience. Thank you guys for a very positive shopping experience.

I know when people think of salesmen they think of pushy and overbearing. Alex was none of these things, he let me take my time and was there when I had questions and needed help. He didn't make me feel rushed or pressured. 1/5 for everything else. Be cautious when signing the papers. When they try to have you rapid fire off initials, take your time and don't let them rush you. And be aware IF YOU DON'T SPECIFICALLY ASK, THEY WILL NOT DISCLOSE. They expect you to catch the numbers and hope you don't notice or ask. I had to put my foot down about not wanting the drive train warranty, had to say so at least 3 times to finally have my answer accepted. I was so focused on being heard about this, I did not ask how much the protection plan costs. At no point was the number broken down for me. I was told about the glass protection, what that covers and how to claim. Some talk about other protection services was thrown in there. NO PRICE WAS SPOKEN ABOUT, OR HOW MUCH THAT PLAN COST. If at any point I was told 'the protection package is $3155' I would have said no. I knew the cost of the car. I knew my trade in value. I knew my negative equity being rolled over. I was so adamant trying to fight to get that warranty removed. Then come the rapid fire initials. I did not see the '$3155' for the protection plan. I don't do this every day. I called the next day, when I finally got my copy of the paperwork and saw it. I asked for it to be removed and while im sure they can remove it, they won't. I was told 'I should have asked the price' and the best they can do is a $500 credit. I'm left feeling like they hid something, got away with it and now I'm on the hook. If they weren't trying to hide the price, then why never mention it? Be aware. Take your time. Stay sharp. Ask everything, even if you don't know what to ask. Better make sure you think about it. I'd happily buy another car from Alex. Not go Honda.

I brought my Prius here for service for a couple years after moving to Edmonton from San Diego, and…read morethey did a decent job of service - certainly better than Toyota on the Trail who were truly abysmal. However, I recently decided it was time to look at a car more suited to Edmonton winter weather, and spoke to a salesman (Mark) about some used RAV4s they had in stock while I was there for a service for my Prius. After we spoke at the dealership, we exchanged a few emails. He asked if I'd be paying cash or finance. I asked what the pros and cons were... and got a copy-pasted email back seriously explaining "if you pay cash, you will have less on hand" and "there is interest if you finance". Uhh... duh? I'm unsure if he is just such a terrible saleman in general that he could not even understand a customer would be asking what incentives he could offer if I went for their preferred payment type (surely that's a question they must hear weekly at least), or if he specifically decided that I personally looked like an idiot, but either way he assumed a woman in her 40s needed an explanation of how cash works...? He had two similar RAV4s available and immediately tried to sell me the one with the higher mileage but not significantly lower price. When I asked why anyone would choose the higher mileage model he laughed and agreed the other one was a much better deal. So... why did you try to interest me in that one first, then? Again, making it pretty clear he thought I was an idiot? After I did test drive the vehicle and got a mechanic friend to look at it while I was out, I pointed out some damage and the wear on the tires, and suggested a significantly lower price that my mechanic friend suggested. He didn't look impressed, but I asked him to think it over, and if he could come close to that price I'd sign the papers immediately. Was it a lowball price? Yes, of course it was. This is how negotiation works. My expectation was that he'd come back with another price suggestion. In actuality, I never even heard from him again, not even a "no thanks" email, just silence. Given that his attitude had already disinclined me to be in the slightest bit sympathetic, and considering how many used RAV4 models are out there, I decided to look elsewhere and eventually purchased a similar model RAV4 from Rally Subaru. And I will not be returning to Gateway Toyota. Overall verdict: not the worst Toyota dealer for service. But possibly the worst Toyota dealer for sales rep attitude. Or at least, if you do go here, pick your sales rep carefully.

I overlooked a few things...like wrappers under the seats and a note to 'Alison' I found in a trunk compartment...not as clean as I thought. But mechanical issues started coming up. Buying used vehicles often comes with those, but they never seemed to end. The rims needed fixing because the tires kept going flat, the keyfob stopped working, stuff like that. THEN I go to get my oil changed and my mechanic discovers that the plug for my oil pan was held in with caulking. Shortly after that, I started having serious transmission problems. I couldn't get the Journey over 70 kms. Sometimes it just wouldn't start. It would eventually, but there was a gauntlet of things to do and check first. Sometimes it took three tries, sometimes it took ten minutes. I bought the Journey in September of 2019, and I just parked it permanently in July 2021. I'm mad at myself for not reading the Carfax. They gave me one without me having to ask, so I didn't worry about it. I took it in good faith. My bad. I had been happy with the service, but I'll never go back. Their mechanic SUCKS.
