Chung is a fantastic artist! My wife and I got our tattoos here. He did a cover up of my wifes tattoo. She had a rose and a heart, and she got a even bigger rose and a heart... HaHa! It took 2 sessions, and she has to go back to get it covered up some more, but it looks fantastic! Each and every time, he goes out of his way to make sure that he opens the needles in front of her, double wipes down the bench. He takes all the precautions and then some! I got my tattoo here as well, and he did a great job! It is a beautiful custom made design! It is a masonic tattoo with embellishments. Chung did an outstanding job! The shop is very nice and clean. Go! Tattoo is a cute lil tattoo shop in Astoria, that I think is going to become more and more popular. Niiru is seriously so wonderful, and the first time getting a tattoo from him felt like hanging out with an old friend. He is probably hands down the friendliest and most laid back tattoo artists that I have ever met. No pretentiousness or attitude here, which I've sadly come across a couple of times with other tattoo artists. My first tattoo that he did for me was for one of my favorite movies of all time, Spirited Away. He came up with an awesome leg piece that has Haku, Chihiro, and No face together and patiently spent most of his day working on it, ensuring that it came out just right. He also didn't mind that my husband came to hang out, and made sure that we were both comfortable. We also got to reminisce on some old music we listened back in high school, which was rather nice. The second tattoo he did for me was an original design he did of a Shark Lady, that I saw him do a few of and fell in love with. He has done a few for people so far, but each with their own style and varying details. She's so beautiful! I got this lovely lady also done on my leg on Halloween of 2017. During this visit, he also touched up a few details on my Spirited Away piece. You can tell that Niiru really has a lot of passion and patience for his art, and wants to make sure that everyone that comes in is really happy and satisfied with their work. He makes it easy to talk to him, and has also been patient with me in my excitement to get another tattoo! I will be seeing him in a few days to get a Moogle from FF (a game that meant a lot to me growing up!) on my leg, near the other two tattoos he's done for me, and am stoked to get more ink done by him. If you're in the area, I really suggest that you check this place out (especially if you love traditional/nerdy tattoos!), and also look at their instagram to see more of the work all of the people at the shop have done. I showed up for my appointment and the tattoo artst was not there. I was told that he had left the shop a couple of weeks ago and he wasn't showing up. The guy was just filling in but he said he knew there was an appointment on the books...my appointment. Knowing that my appointment was on the books for weeks and that I was going to show up, no one felt compelled to call me or ask me to reschedule my appointment. Really bad service. No thought to the effort it takes to come in and get tattooed. I had sent in my ideas and all it took was a call or an email to cancel. I want to support local businesses and great artists, however, I definitely won't be coming back and if anyone wants to get tattooed here, I would think twice about it. read more

This little tattoo shop is actually so incredible. Walking in, immediately the manager King was so warm and welcoming offering snacks and drinks and tv to watch while we waited for the tattoo artist to arrive. He went above and beyond asking my friends and I questions and just making sure we felt comfortable (which we definitely did in the comfy seating area in the back). Logan tattooed my friend and I and he did a wonderful job. He was very personable and joking and wanted us to be 100% sure that we liked what he drew for us. I gave him the font for the script that I wanted but wanted him to change the spacing a bit, which he did and it looked great. This was my first tattoo so I was a little wary but he did a great job of appeasing me just talking and generally being very kind. He really took his time with our tattoos and actually went back to touch up a tattoo on my friend when he was done because he saw a small deviation from her template. I am extremely happy with how it turned out and will definitely be coming back for future tattoos. Also, they offer FREE touch ups on any tattoo done by them which is incredible. If you ever decide to get a tattoo, definitely come here and ask for Chung. He did my first tattoo and I came back for a second one which he also did for me. His service is amazing and he makes you feel very at ease throughout the whole thing. He is super funny and is very patient when it comes to designing the tattoo. Chung made sure the design was exactly what I wanted before he transferred it onto my body and that's really important when it comes to getting a tattoo in my opinion! He is extremely busy though, since everyone asks for him, so make sure to call in advance and squeeze yourself in there because he could be booked out for months ahead. I love this place mostly for Chung, and all my friends that I introduced to him are hooked as well. The place itself is also very spacious and clean which is a plus. read more

It only took me twenty years to get my second tattoo and I'm glad I waited so that I could have it done by Elly at GO Tattoo. I decided to get a music tattoo with lotuses on both sides on my arm because two of the most important things in my life are music and spiritually and the song I chose is a song about being in the moment and that's my goal in life: to be in the moment and enjoy life. I told Elly that I wanted it to be artistic, but I also wanted the notes to be clear and correct so that someone looking at it could actually read it and (in theory) play it. She paid attention and gave my tattoo great detail. The composer of the song liked it, which was important because I know her and wanted to show it to her. It is beautiful! It's much better than trying to give myself reminder notes by writing on my hand. The shop is nice and clean and everyone who works there is friendly. They made sure that I had eaten and kept asking if I needed anything to drink, which, was nice since it's a process. I ended up watching Roger Rabbit and a part of Nightmare Before Christmas while Elly was doing the tattoo. Their prices are reasonable from what I researched of comparative shops, but also to have that attention to detail and the warm environment. I will definitely go back there if I can get another tat in less than twenty years. read more

Gave Artist - Jio a scaled simple line drawing of a feather along with script letters. All he needed to do is to trace it. The tattoo itself was rushed as there was another person waiting for him. I was already asked to possibly come back so he can see him. I said no as I had an appointment at 5pm and did not start till 6:30pm on top of it. I did not complain, as these things need time. Nevertheless he rushed it through. I could not only sense this but unfortunately the work resembled it as well. After coming home and looking in detail not only some letters that were inside of the image originally were randomly placed on the outside of it, creating a gap now, I ended up with 10 birds instead of 11? Which was the significance of my tattoo. I could not believe I have missed this but I later realized why. I noticed while comparing my drawing that he cut off the top bird during his process! Which is why the stencil matched, as he was no longer there to begin with. I need to now have this redone due to the significance not portraying what I drew but also, so it does not look so sloppy. However; the shape cannot be changed as the script is tilted to the left which created completely different curve. As he was moving towards the top you can see how he rushed skipping lines.. You can view the discrepancies of before and after in the attached photo. I took time drawing this up to not only make it easier but to assure the shape and lettering. And as you usually do, you put trust into the Artist's hands.. I have never experienced a tattoo Artist not being able to judge proportions, or trace this poorly. I was not going to leave a review; as I truly do not wish negative feedback period. However, after calling back to the shop, all I got was "I'll tell him". No apology, no offer to fix it, no refund offer. I would not feel comfortable going back anyways at this point seeing the result; but a customer service of some kind would have gone a long way initially, especially after the price I paid; which now will cost me even more to go get it fixed. Correction, make it not as terrible = as the shape issue is permanent unless I decide to laser remove, then redo. I have also asked for white highlights to offset the darkness of the tattoo.. The photo speaks for itself. The whole experience was just a bummer, and I could not review it sadly otherwise.. I received a Google notification of a reply attempt from the shop on this review. An appropriate phone call should have been placed after I reached out. Actually.. it should have been addressed while I was on the phone and amicably took the time to call them. Chung. Is. The. MAN!!!!! Mind you, I'm not from NY, and I came here somewhat spontaneously and on a whim with friends and decided on getting my very first tattoo. We had no appointment, no call - nothing. Just a walk in, and Cheng was friendly from the moment we stepped into his shop and even the hours following the conclusion of our session as he DMed us with the most helpful tips for maintenance and taking proper care of my new tat. During our session, he was very personable, extremely easy to talk to - not to mention absolutely hilarious - and obviously very experienced. There was no instance where I didn't feel reassured about the pain (I was only slightly nervous... it was not bad AT all). Last but not least, he had these next level / top-of-the-line / high technology clear anti-bacterial synthetic protection sheets for the tat, which apparently is next level because everybody else just uses saran wraps. He even gave me a discount for being a first timer when he didn't have to. Needless to say, I would recommend ANYBODY to come here, first time or not. Side story is I was very low sugar that day (Still recovery after the pregnancy) the stuffs there were so friendly that they offered me juice and chocolate.
