We were hungry from a trip to Turkey State Run and found Gobbler's Knob store along the way home. The place was lovely, lots of DIY candy gifts, ice cream, and items for sale. We asked for the all day breakfast which took way too long to prepare. We found that they have just opened and that the place was mainly for ice cream. I'm giving this 3 stars because the owner made up for the very long wait. She was very warm and friendly.

This is a little general store slash ice cream and candy shop. The ice cream was awesome and it had a great atmosphere.

It's a candy and snack joint! You will definitely find something for everyone here. Hoosier Cupboard is located in downtown Franklin, in a cute little house that also looks like a train depot. Across the way is some sort of train thing, so I'm sensing a theme. My children got an ice cream cone (Blue Moon) and a scoop of chocolate ice cream in a cup. They have kids' sizes, which is appreciated. I am not an ice cream person, so I got two hand-dipped peanut butter cups, one for each hand: one milk chocolate, and the other dark chocolate. Both were delicious! We ate our treats at a table on the outdoor patio. There is lots of outdoor seating, and zero indoor seating. So, your options are to sit outside or get your goodies to go. The people who work here are polite and patient, which is also appreciated. You know how it goes when you visit a sweets shop with kids -- they can't make up their mind about what they want. But the people behind the counter were very kind and waited with the utmost patience while my children made their decision about which ice cream flavor to choose.

This is the home base for Wolf's, though they do also have a location in nearby West Lafayette. Wolf's has been in business for over a half century, though they've mostly lived in the shadow of other familiar Indiana chocolatiers. They use a handmade process in their Attica factory. Located in an easy to miss building near the National Guard Armory on U.S. 41 (which is known as Council Street in Attica), Wolf's also offers shopping online and they have some of their chocolates available at A Taste of Indiana here in Indianapolis. I'm sitting here having devoured a Fine Milk Chocolate Crisp (think Nestle Crunch but a zillion times better). Four servings? Who are they kidding. I ate the whole thing without regrets. Wolf's offers box chocolates, specialty size chocolates, caramel corn, candy bars, chews, pan-crafted chocolates, holiday chocolates (especially Valentine's Day and Christmas season), fudge, baskets, and more. The candy bars typically come it right about $3 - I personally think this is an amazing price for quality chocolate locally made. Custom boxes vary in size from 8-pieces to 48-pieces and you can create your own. Prices are fair - in fact, I'd say quite good. The people are friendly even during the holiday rush. The tradition is as rich as the chocolate and I'm just delighted that I can find them here in Indy not too far from my northeast side home. While some of the bigger names charge MUCH more, Wolf's simply makes wonderful chocolate at a fair price. I'm a big fan and highly recommend.

When the monument isn't under construction I love walking the steps. We parked a block away and walked back. And once inside we were in candy heaven. We spent alot of time perusing. Because their were so many choices it was hard for my grandson to decide until the store clerk mentioned she just made some grab bags. Excited he was. They were pricey but it was for the fun of it all for him. It has been a while since we've gone but he still talks about our visit. And for me, the memories are worth every dollar spent.

We've visited the area a few times since moving to central Illinois a few years ago, and we always make a point of having a meal at the Candy Kitchen. This place continues the Illinois (at least) tradition of locally owned establishments that specialized in making and serving ice cream and candy. Although I can't figure out why I haven't tried their candy, I have tried their ice cream and their (less sweet) food. On our latest trip, with a pile of relatives, we all stopped at this place, that my in-laws used to call "The Greek's". Since the time my in-laws were growing up, decades ago, the place has changed hands (at least once), but you can tell that the current owners care about quality and service. When we arrived, the place was hopping, but with only one server in evidence we were concerned about how long we'd be there. Within a few minutes, though, there were servers everywhere. Seems that when it was seen how busy the place was, everyone was called in to help. On this latest trip, I had a really good patty melt. My wife had a (huge) pork tenderloin sandwich. We all shared around pretty much all of the various fried stuff, including mushrooms, onion rings, and green beans (!!!). My wife swears by the black walnut ice cream, but I prefer some of their other flavors. They're all made there, and all a lot better than you'll find at the typical ice cream shop or supermarket carton. I'm sure we'll be back to the area and I'm sure we'll be back to Candy Kitchen. If I'm a good boy, maybe I'll get to have some candy next time!
