Had a great experience here! Just recently moved and the way my dog's surgery timed with the move meant his stitches needed to get removed here. The staff was so kind and welcoming. Dr. Garmin sat on the floor to play with my doggo to make him comfy with her. I also wanted to mention cause I saw some not great reviews regarding pricing. They told me they would charge me $25 for his senior well visit and the stitch removal was going to be complimentary over the phone. When I went to get charged they were going to charge me for both the visit and the removal but I brought up the phone conversation and they honored it without even checking with the staff who I spoke to. I really appreciated that. I thought that was an amazing price for both services and I appreciated how they handled the miscommunication. Great customer service! read more

I could not believe this place called me after my dog has been dead for over a year to schedule his visit - with a vet he never saw to begin with. When I called the woman who answers the phone in the office - the same one I told at the start of the year to remove me from contact, she blamed it on the boarding care side of the business. But it WASN'T, because the voicemail that I received was from the office for a follow up checkup - where he'd never been once in his life. They also emailed the same with the title of "we can't wait to see XXX again". I can't tell you what sort of grief this has caused me and no one apologized to me when I called to ask AGAIN for them not to contact me - not going back there. If they contact me again for my deceased beloved pet, I'm filing a complaint - not kidding about this. read more

We have been going here for 2 years ever since we moved to the area. We recently had to say goodbye to our 14 year old Yorkie who has been part of our family since she was a few months old. DR. PAN was wonderful and was there every step of the way. She kept us posted every couple of hours on her condition. Finding the best vet for your pet is not as simple as choosing a restaurant or a mechanic--everyone has different needs. But in the spirit of helping neighbors, I provide a summary of my recent experience with Godspeed, where my dog has been a client for 6 years. He had a stricture in his colon which was resulting in pooping-problems for about 5 months. It was a complicated case that looked like constipation + diarrhea. Dr. Hale and his team treated my dog over the course of 3 weeks for this condition--with kindness, thoughtfulness, good care, and communication. The stricture is now functionally repaired, and we very likely avoided surgery. Thus, not only did they provide a successful treatment, but they saved me thousands of dollars in the cost of surgery. My advice? Get pet insurance, as Dr. Hale advised me a couple of years ago! And take your dog to Godspeed Animal Care in Williamsburg if you can. read more

I had one veterinarian named Ben a few years ago and he had me waiting 3 hours as he was darting from to room trying to see how many hundred's he could stoke and clean out peoples wallets. What ever happened to decency and morals of these places called vet shops. Our pets deserve much better than these money snatchers. I am not talking about a hundred or two. We booked an appointment online for a wellness visit after seeing wonderful reviews and noting that new pets could establish care for $25. Our pet had been experiencing behavioral concerns but we wanted to rule out the possibility of any medical/wellness issues. When the exam concluded, we were told it would be $88 because the visit had been classified as a "consultation," because we described an issue (despite booking the exam to rule out wellness concerns). When we called to raise the concern (given that our appointment confirmation said "wellness visit"), the office admitted the appointment should never have been confirmed that way and that the doctor should have informed us of the cost difference -- which did not happen. They offered no resolution and no concrete explanation for why the visit was misclassified (despite having multiple phone calls before the exam). I hope management takes appropriate steps toward greater transparency for future clients. Unfortunately, we will be seeking care elsewhere for all of our household pets. read more

I am incredibly happy with how all staff speaks to the customer and treats my pets. I have had multiple great experiences with them. They even worked to get one of my pets in the same day who was not an established patient in an emergency after not being able to get into the emergency vet nearby. I highly recommend them for great care. The veterinarians were top-notch and caring! I did not find this to be the case at Williamsburg Veterinary Clinic nor VCA Merrimac Animal Hospital, a regular vet clinic. Their staff in the front and vet tech at Williamsburg Vet Clinic treated me poorly and failed to do their job or care for my pets. I'm so grateful we found this clinic! Based on Yelp reviews, we scheduled vet appointments for our dog and cat (we're new to the area). Terri was so friendly and helpful with scheduling appointments. The clinic has instituted strict safety measures, which we respect and appreciate. Even without being in the clinic with our pets, we were able to consult with Dr. Cohen via phone. He patiently answered all questions and provided helpful advice and suggestions. The entire staff were friendly and kind. We had a pet emergency last week and Terri (again) was so kind and patient when I called in a panic. We took our dog straight to the clinic and she was immediately cared for by Dr. Cohen and his team. She's back to her normal spunky self now! The clinic called the next day to check on Sansa. We lived in Williamsburg for three years, and for the duration of that time, we took our rescue here for all of our needs. From the very first visit after she was adopted, to the very last time she went to play care three years later, we received excellent care from Godspeed. One of the things I miss most about Williamsburg is having such a reputable, friendly place to take our dog. Everyone knew Summer by name. You could tell they loved her, and gave her plenty of attention, as quirky and anxious as she can be. We also boarded our dog here on numerous occasions, sometimes for longer than a week. It was so nice to know our dog was in good hands, and that the vet was next door if anything did happen. read more

Their prices are $10.00 more on Exams and vaccines. They are not friendly. They don't put your pet first. They start out telling how much everything will cost. Their number one concern is money. I treated like criminal because I questioned the cost of the exams and vaccines. Then the hospital administrator kicked out of the office. I requested my pet's record and she Threw it across the front desk and told me to get out and never come back again! she refused to give me the record and yelled at me! she threatened to call the cops on me. I am not pleased with Godspeed in Williamsburg. About 3 weeks ago I called to make an appointment for two cats to be groomed. I was told that they would need a 'physical examination' prior to grooming, in case they needed to be 'sedated'. They are about ten years old, they get groomed once a year, and neither have ever required sedation. They are current on all vaccinations and are current clients of this facility. They were groomed elsewhere, without mandatory physicals, and did not require sedation. Most recently I took one of my cats in for GI problems. Of course, labs were necessary and I was told that I would be contacted with the results within 24 hours. After numerous calls from me and 48 hours later, I was contacted by a 'technician' and told that the results were negative. She (technician) recommended that I continue with the probiotics (even after I explained that my pet's symptoms were escalating) for another few days, and bring him back in for further consultation if he wasn't better. Took my cat to GodSpeed when we found out she had a broken femur. What a joke of a practice they run. They pull prices out of there head based on the patient they have. My vet bill for my cat was more than when I took my huge shepherd in for an appointment. They gave her x rays and a splint and it fell off the night we brought her home. Talked to the lovely and unsympathetic lady after writing and sending in an email and GodSpeed cannot take any responsibility for anything wrong that happened with our appointment. Has an excuse for everything. They show no sympathy towards the emotions you may have during troubling times with your pet and shows no sympathy for the pain your pet is in. I recommend to keep on searching for a new vet, becuase this is not the one. Everytime you call, there is a new person on the phone too. Ended up finding a new vet to complete the amputation my cat needed for less than a third of the price that GodSpeed's surgery place recommended going to. They kept blaming the cat for the reason why the splint came off too. Do you and your animals a favor and transfer to a different vet. They couldn't offer anything to me a partial refund for gods sake! All they want is the money and they clearly do not care about the animals the most. They have lost me as a customer and neither of my animals will ever step foot into that office ever again. read more

She is beyond thorough and I'm beyond OCD in terms of my pets care. She is beyond cerebral in the questions she asks in terms of your pets habits and behavior. I'd give more stars for their friendly demeanor and speedy response, but I don't appreciate their vaccination policies that are not listed on their website. Our dog is fully vaccinated through another local vet (within the last year) but yet Godspeed required our dog get shots from them she didn't need or due, simply to use their boarding facilities. This would have also incurred an additional $95 vet "wellness" visit, of course through their vet. They wanted a worm test just to stay and none of this information is on their website that I can find. Nickel and dime their clients. I have no problem paying for great care for my dog and will only board her at an exceptional place. But I have kenneled her at many places that were exceptional without hidden fees or exuberant costs or compulsory vet visits that aren't needed. I'm sure Godspeed or St Francis or whatever it's called is a quality pet resort and it's great there are vet services on site. However, the veterinary industry has become as bad as the human medical industry, recommending only expensive procedures that aren't actually needed in an effort to make more bucks. No thanks. My dog is healthy and will just stay with us on our trip. read more

This is a very well run, caring and professional operation. We had to board our dog while we stayed at a nearby resort in Williamsburg. The kennel required a brief examination and boardatella shot before admission. Dr. Pam and her assistant were very thorough and gentle with our dog. Even though we were only passing through, the vet made several key observations which we will pass on to our home vet. I highly recommend this facility. read more

This is not as good as it sounds. I took my dog there for several years. I stopped because the attitude seems to be that the owners and pets are irritants. I made an appointment, arrived early and was fine waiting. When I was taken to an exam room I waited over 25 minutes with NO ONE coming. I went out to find someone and tell them I was still sitting. 10 minutes later Dr. Hale comes in looking like he'd just woken up, unshaven. He was rough with my dog who was very timid and he just pushed her around, pulled open her mouth and in less than 10 minutes charged me well over $100 for what? His technician was no better. She came in with my dog's records on her clip board -- she didn't know the dogs name or gender and asked me what I was in there for -- notwithstanding they had contacted me for the needed medical workup. I had a similar problem getting a prescription for heartworm I was told to use their on-line pharmacy and took all the time and energy that required. When I did not receive the medicine after 10 days I called them, they told me I had to call the pharmacy -- which is not easy. I finally talked with them and was told that Godspeed had cancelled my order -- the one they had told me to place!!! I was never called by Godspeed, never informed it was cancelled by Godspeed or their pharmacy. When I called Godspeed back, it was, "Well, I don't know anything, I'll have to check." Then another phone call to have them tell me, yep, it was cancelled, so just go back online and re-do the order, which I refused to do and asked for a written script. This seemed like a huge challenge, but several days later received one via email. Only received a hard copy several weeks later -- well after I had found another source for the medicine. Not worth my time and certainly not worth my money. read more

We have had some health scares and problems and some excellent check ups. Through it all, I have been given good advice, listening ears, and excellent support - both medical and emotional. I cannot in good conscience recommend a vet practice that "fires" a client in the middle of the treatment of their pet. Dr. Dudley could not seem to explain what an issue with some test results was in terms that a layman could understand. I spoke to another practice about the results and was able to understand exactly what the issue was. That I was told I was rude to the vet and the staff because of their lack of compassion and that this dog now has to suffer thru more tests by another vet is ridiculous and cruel. read more

Godspeed Animal Care has gone above and beyond for our newly diabetic dog. We live over 200 miles away and were here visiting family. Our dog is newly diabetic and was out of his food needed for him to be able to have his insulin. Godspeed went out of there way to track down the correct food for him and did everything they could to help us make sure he had everything we needed. The vets here are very good but I do feel they are more expensive than most. For example, they charge 23 dollars for a rabies shot when the vaccination only runs 15 at most places in town. That is not a huge difference in cost but it does add up quickly and the cost inflation is larger with more specialized services. Update on Nov. 13 - I recently changed vets. Again, the vets here are nice but you don't get a timely call back. My dog has cancer and is having some breathing issues. I called on Thursday, I called in Friday. I left several messages. On Monday, still no call back. It is the same with reporting lab results. You just don't find out the results unless you initiate contact. I'm switching to a smaller practice that can give me more responsive end of life care for my sweet dog. read more

Terrific. Basil is a mature little shi tzu. A bit nervous at times. They were wonderful and his tail was wagging like crazy when they brought him out to me. The groomer took time to explain her concern over Basils front paw. Well things got pretty bad this morning when I called in about my sick dog. They told me I could bring him in and they would fit him in but there would be a special charge of 38$ for fitting basil in. Our family physician doesn't charge extra to fit us humans in! Why would a vet? So the receptionist check the symptoms I had listed with the vet and she came back and told me the vet was not concerned only if I was concerned should I bring in basil earlier than the 11:15 slot they gave me. So I made sure basil was comfortable and after using up an hours time at home I went over to his bed and found he had suffered a seizure had hemorrhages and died. So it would seem Godspeed prefers money over providing pet care. We have had several pets in our household and recently relocated to Virginia. Never before did we ever experience the policy of fitting in fees. I find this to be deplorable. When we adopt a new pet we certainly won't use Godspeed. They should be ashamed. read more

Our family adopted a rescue and selected Godspeed as our vet. We have been extremely please with the care that he has received. One of his favorite things is to attend playcare! As soon as we enter the parking lot, he is filled with excitement. Our dog recently required emergency services and the staff made sure that we were comfortable as we waited for the results. They called once we left to check on our daughter, who was deeply concerned about the state of of dog's condition. We even saw one of the staff members while out shopping and she asked about both our dog and daughter. A member of the playcare staff come over to the vet to check on him. The concern shown by Godspeed meant a lot to us and our little buddy cannot wait to get back to see his friends at playcare! read more

Godspeed is a caring, professional & comforting place to take your pet. My last visit with my cat was for injuries he sustained and Dr. Dudley was thorough yet gentle while examining him. I need help getting our carrier to & from the car & someone quickly brings him in. I would give them five stars except for the cost; they are on the expensive side. Sadly, it has changed. My last dog and I were some of the first patients years ago. Loved them. They were confident, competent and caring. Now? They are in it for the $$. And thru an unfortunate spread of highly infectious airborne illness at their play care and boarding facility, they have been inconsistent and confused. 'Your Dog can board if we do a swab test and it's clear. We are swabbing all dogs now. ' (The boarding side). 'We don't swab all dogs and forgot to swab yours. But a clear swab is not the deciding factor in who we can board' (the vet side on the SAME day). Oh and did I mention over $600 for initial healthy dog exam and shots, then $125 more a few weeks later for boosters? Just truly sad to see the place change this way. But save yourself, your dog and your wallet the trouble. read more

I have worked for a vet before and it can be hard for me to find a vet I trust as much as the one I worked for in GA. I went in yesterday with my cat who had eaten a ribbon the day before Thanksgiving. Dr. Cohen was very nice and answered all my questions. He told me the options and was very good to my cat. We decided to give it another day and luckily the ribbon passed through this morning. I Will definitely continue to use Godspeed! Office was also clean and well kept and the staff were all very nice. I had just traveled 1500 miles from Texas to Williamsburg to start a new job; in tow were my 2 dogs, Dixie and Rory. In the hotel on our 2nd night after arriving, my older dao Dixie began having a lot of confusion which later turned into non-stop seizures. I took her to another emergency vet at 3am, but was given a bottle of pills and sent home. My sweet 13 year old pom/chi continued to have seizures and began crying out in pain. At 9am we made a trip to Gosspeed because of all the wonderful reviews. They were so kind and compassionate. We chose to allow my best friend to no longer suffer. My favorite Vet!! I have taken Butter (my pup) to a few different vets but decided the 30-45 min drive to the vet is worth it with this place! They are so friendly and definitely care about your pet. It's also worth the extra money to come here. My dog got fixed here and had a bad reaction to the medication and they worked with my schedule to get her seen immediately. Godspeed is a wonderful veterinary practice! I first became acquainted with them when my wonderful 19 year old kitty needed to put to sleep and I wanted it to be as peaceful as possible. I had heard that Godspeed made house calls, and even though they weren't my usual vet, the doctor came to my house and handled an awful situation as thoughtfully as I ever could have wanted. Since then I have taken all my pets there, including my retired greyhound who had cancer. Dr. Dumont took care of my greyhound as if she were her own. We take our Toy Poodle and 2 Persian kittens to Godspeed. Drs. Dumont, Dudley and Mulllin all are wonderful. They take their time and explain everything and make sure we are comfortable with everything. The technicians are also great as well as the office staff. We recently had a kitten with a lot of congenital problems and after many visits we finally had to euthanize her.
