Our big boy Tucker has had to have TPLO surgery twice in less than a year, each hind leg. Dr. Robert Murphie has done both his legs, he is knowledgeable, professional and extremely compassionate. Tucker can be dog reactive & everyone from the front desk "Jess" to all the other staff remember this and will help clear the hallway and bring him back. we left our two Great Danes 6 years old and 3 years old. We knew they had experience with Great Danes which is why we left them there for our 5 day trip. We come back and mind you, we use prong collars for walking them or taking them into places only. They left them on the entire 5 day period and when we got them back the 6 year old had hair missing from the prongs and the 3 year old had a cut in her neck. The dogs also rarely get taken out and are usually just left by themselves. Never board your dog here. read more

I would never bring any of my pets back there. They are very insensitive to the animals and my dog who is a 1 1/2 ye old German Sheppard. We dropped her off to be boarded on a Saturday and Monday they called me in Florida that we had to make other plans because they stated she bite the kennel attendant and he had to go to Urgent Care. She said they would see how she did the rest of the day. The next day she called and said it was not a aggressive bit but a bite of fear. Needless to say a few choice words later they kept her for the week. We went to pick her up at the end of the week only to find out they drugged her the whole week with Trazodone and Gabapentin. I would give minus stars if I could we took my 17yr old doxie here to have a mass removal on the day of surgery I told the tech he has never been in a cage so please please please do not leave him in one for any length of time I offered to sit in the waiting area to hold him until they were ready for him they said no need we will talk to the Dr and try to get him back 1st they also said we will call you as he goes in so you'll no when the procedure started and it should take about an hour well that was at 8:30am 1:30 still have not heard anything tried calling it kept going to answering service finally got a call back we were so worried about our boy being in the cage this long was assured he was getting ready to go back 2:30 called back so tried calling AGAIN GOT ANSWERING SERVICE we are 1 hr away from there do got in my car and headed that way walked in no one in lobby finally someone came out we were told everyone is at lunch as soon as they get back they will start on my dog I said go get my boy now please she went back it took her 1/2 hr to come back with my boy he was soooo out of it didn't even recognize us they had him wrapped in a urine smelling blanket which I threw on the floor the girl said O he just had an accident in the cage he stunk so bad of urine I asked do you guys let them out to use the bathroom she said yeah at that point I was boiling and had to just take my dog and leave I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN they do not care about your pets they are just a corporate run vet service that is in it for the dollars VCA I see your response and it looks like the same response you put on any negative review all I can say is DO BETTER VCA DO BETTER and shame on you guys for treating my family member as you did read more

We have been clients of Anderson's Corner Vet for over 9 years. Since VCA has taken over, the customer service is terrible. This review is not about the vets: it is in regard to boarding. They raised prices for overnight to the size of the dog instead of the size of the crate. It now costs us $90 a night for our dog. We use to pay about $46 a night. Most of the time when I call, I get an answer service. I emailed the person in charge of boarding and she never emailed back. I notice that the employees who have been there many years have quit. read more

Don't go here unless you want your pet kept hostage over a $500 spay. They wouldn't tell us a price when we dropped our cat off to be spayed, so being dumb I assumed it would be around $120, like you would pay at most vets. Nope, come find out they charge $500 for a SPAY. Well, I didn't have $500 on hand and they demanded all $500 before they let us take her home. I asked about payment plans, putting down a sum now for good faith, anything they could do so our sweet girl can come home. Nothing. The best they could tell us was to talk to a manager on Monday! NO empathy whatsoever. Absolutely disgusting. Not to mention a ton of procedures I did NOT ASK FOR. I wanted to give a better review because Dr Robb has Ben nothing but helpful, but this is absolutely cruel to punish owners AND their pets. You choose to not do anything about. 3 months ago my 17 year old cat needed end of life and your office staff failed at helping. VCA has curbside service, the staff are efficient and courteous, and the location is lovely. My cattle dog needed x-rays and they were able to get us in and out in under 45 minutes. read more

We have used Anderson's Corner since 2014. The people at Anderson's corner are very nice and have done well with our 3 pets. However.... that's only on a routine, scheduled basis. If you have a sick animal (even a very sick one) they will generally not see it. Sometimes VCA Merrimack Trail will see them on short notice. Don't bring your pet here. Especially as a walk in or urgent situation. They will wait until their urgent care hours just to charge you more money. I sat there for 2 1/2 hours today. Also, not very easy or gentle with my dog. The way he was treated, I wonder how they would feel if their pet was treated that way. I recently moved to the area and got an appointment with The Andersons Corner veterinary clinic. The front staff we're not friendly but I passed it off as a bad day. I called for a second appointment and again the front staff did not even acknowledge I was there for almost 10 minutes when I was standing at the counter. Then they were not friendly. One woman was on a personal call and seemed like she was upset because I interrupted. I had to take my dog to a vet while on vacation and they prescribe some medicine for arthritis. When it was getting low I called the vet to see if they would accept a prescription from the other vet until I could get in to see them. The girl who answered the phone but no idea what I was talking about but took the name and said she would have the vet or a technician call me back. I never received a call and they are closed on weekends. My call was Friday morning about 9:30. I do not recommend this vet and would not suggest anybody else go ​to it. I have been going to Anderson's corner for years I have 6dogs with them. However my recent experiences have been awful. Ever since becoming part of VCA I have had no good luck. The vet staff are still amazing however I had to call three time about medication getting filled then had to call about a test result and today after I drove over for a nail trim which is normally a walk up I was informed it's now appointment only. While I understand the times I have been doing nail trim visits this while time. It would be nice to get notifications of changes like these so I don't waste the little time I do have making an unnecessary drive. read more

Besides being an excellent general vet, top orthopedic specialist, empathetic emergency services, Anderson's Corner is the only vet in the area that accepts distressed wildlife. I brought a young rabbit in last week, thinking it had to be euthanized due to misfortune with a cat. When I called to check a few hours later, it was receiving an iv and cared for by the "exotic" animal specialist, Dr. Welch. When stabilized, a wildlife rehab specialist will care for the bunny until healthy to be released in a safer environment. Anderson's also stayed on the phone with me when I was rushing my cat to them. He was having respiratory distress. He died about a minute before I arrived but they rushed him into the back and spent time trying to revive him. Unfortunately they couldn't, but they gave me, a few days later, a plaster paw print from him, with his name on it. There was no charge for these services. Thank you very much to all of the people there, from the kind front desk people, the techs and doctors. read more

We have lived in the Williamsburg area since 2003. We were delighted that this Hospital opened so close to us. Dr. Rob is very knowledgeable and competent, also he goes in depth during the diagnoses process so as a pet parent you feel that your fur kid is in good hands. We had adopted a 8 year old hound last year, his bottom teeth were so worn, and really bothered him. Dr. Rob took our pup in and fixed an infected one first and then he had another visit for the second tooth. He was kept the entire day for each appt. to make sure he didn't have any complications. They also accept Care Credit as well which is a Plus. They can offer more services and vaccines but take in account for mindful patients who know what environment their kid lives in...indoors vs outdoors or needs to be boarded often, all require different vaccinations. The cat might be in the kennel area, but the dog photo is not, they have two large areas for dogs, each gets a bed and they have different prices. Lastly, they have a huge enclosure as well that the pups get to use as well. read more

Wellness visit without folllowup from other vet. I still dont know the results of his fecal exam. Staff at front desk wont relate it to me and I paid for that test. Said vet would call. 4 days later. Nothing. No other vet called me. Dr. Robb left the practice and all the personal care and integrity with this practice went with him. Corporate ownership makes this vet completely insensitive to your pets needs. Talked to office manager and about front desk. What a waste of time that was. Nothing done about it. Wont be going back here and if u need to get in ASAP go somewhere else. They charge u extra for that and a rip off. read more

All the employees were very nice. Unfotunatley, during my cats first "free" checkup, she was given a dog vacination. The lady vet was very nice and aplogized and said it wouldn't hurt her, but I thought it was wierd that she didn't look at the needle before she injected my cat. The "free" check up turned out to cost almost $300. I had adopted the cat from the Humane society the day before. I was given a "free' check up voucher at Anderson's. It seems strange that a couple of shots came to $278. I won't be going back. read more

Dr Robb and team are the best! My cat visited them until her final days. Once she moved on Dr. Robb sent us a clay paw print of her paw, a card, and a beautiful poem. What brought us to them was our Pug Zoey. About 10 years ago she started to get really sick after a visit to TN. Our own Vet's office didn't have time for her and told us to try the new Veterinary clinic just down the road. We did and never looked back. Now, she is getting older and is requiring extra care. They have an excellent rehabilitation program. The difference is night and day. Our other dog is skittish and does very well. A few people at the front desk have some opportunity, but everything else overcomes that one issue. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting great care for their pets. read more

I have read the recent malicious reviews with 1 ratings. Quite frankly, they are point blank lies published by a couple of disgruntled people, maybe fronting for a competing vet. A revelation is where one reviewer mentions "Dr Anderson." I have been with Andy and later Rob Murphy since the 1970's. They are superb vets, very empathetic, working in a state-of-the art facility. In all this time I have never experienced overcharging, as a reviewer describes. I will never use any other vet. I implicitly trust their competence and integrity. Too bad that some people use Yelp to further a private agenda rather than inform the public. read more

Physically one of the best facilities in the region with roomy boarding and a wide range of services. Unfortunately several key personnel have departed/retired in recent months leading to a sea change in customer service. I recently had a confirmed appointment and sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes while the clerk entered 8 data points into the record. The Vet was waiting in back; I was waiting out front; and the clerk was trying to type and refused to tell the Vet I was there until she finished. I left in disgust. This is not an unusual incident. A questionable sense of urgency in treating potentially life threatening issues is another area of concern. If you can make it past the front desk the service is efficient but so are many other practices without the unnecessary waits. read more

Our cat became very sick overnight, and by Sunday morning it was obvious he needed a vet. Anderson's Corner had Sunday hours! What a blessing. The facility is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Reception staff were prompt, professional and polite. The care givers were kind and knowledgeable and quickly established rapport and confidence. We are kind of new to the area, but we will definitely come back here for our pet's routine healthcare. Excellent job, folks! read more

My one year old pup became extremely ill and after visiting four different vets (including a few day stay in a very expensive animal hospital) nobody could figure out what was wrong with him as his condition continued to worsen. I was running out of $$ and options. One of my friends recommended that I try Andersons Corner, and in particular, Dr. Andrew MacDougall. He went out of his way to see my dog, Oliver, first thing in the morning. He was very helpful and very thorough. He diagnosed my dog with Meningitis within an hour~, something everyone else had missed. He started my pup on antibiotics and steroids immediately, and within one day my dog went from lethargic, and unable to move his legs, to playful and running again. He also calls me back promptly if I have any questions, or assists me right away in any way he can. I credit my dogs life to Dr. MacDougall and Andersons Corner. He is hands down the best vet I have ever visited, and I have had to go to quite a few. I will not be going anywhere else and I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out if you would like a warm and welcoming environment with a knowledgeable team to see your fur babies! read more

I probably should have done this review awhile ago. The staff here are wonderful, caring, and always keep my dogs up to date with printed and call reminders. I've never had any issues with surgeries, services or billing. Not only that, I would like to recognize their grooming staff, Ann, who has groomed all three of my poms for the last 3 years. Ann is very patient and listens to all my needs and wants. She does exactly what we talk about prior to grooming and all my poms comes out great and not too short/bald. I've had horrible experiences with other grooming facilities which left my first Pom with hair that won't grow back the same. I highly recommend this place from preventative services to grooming and anything in between. read more

Anderson's Corner has had our dog Willow for multiple weeks free of charge, and were supposed to do some very expensive testing while there for free since they lied to us, withheld information about her, and in turn have directly inhibited the health care needs of my 2 & 3 year old children's severe illness & myself related to zoonotic disease & the necessity of accurate diagnosis in animal to effectively treat humans. If your dog is currently being boarded here, know that your dog is not safe for there is a dog being held there that is not safe to be around other dogs and is in my opinion their test rat for a severe disease process that we had no idea about until getting the chart 5 mins prior to calling for it (which they have shredded since). They have harassed us and inhibited our own health and well being by withholding information and lying. My family will make sure justice prevails for our family and for our sweet girl Willow. Do not trust these people, they are disgraceful & it's absolutely heartbreaking we have trusted them with our pets lives. I will not let this go nor will I ever stop fighting to make sure justice is served. read more

I recently went in for a check up for my dog who was having some stomach issues and was seen by Dr. McDougal. His flippant and arrogant attitude was more than I could take. Not only that, he was completely off on his diagnosis. He wanted to do lots of very expensive tests and made me feel like I was neglecting my dog when I told him I wanted to see how he felt after a few days. Turns out, my dog ate something and was treated with an antibiotic. He was better in 48 hours. I will never go to this practice again. read more

I recently had to have my dog put down and decided on cremation. I have used this vet for a while and was satisfied with his services and in my time of grief did not question anything. When I got the bill I found that he was using a cremation service in Gloucester VA, Heavenly Pets Cremation who are at least 33% higher than a place right down the road in Williamsburg, Williamsburg Pet Loss, who charges by the pound and would have been $105 less. I feel that people need to know that there are options out there. read more
