On the day of the appointment I was told that I will have the estimate later the same day or the following day since I was the first appointment on the day of the visit. It has been over a week now and after three phone calls I still do not have an estimate. The latest excuse on the third call was that their email with the estimate was not going through. Two workers showed on time and started at 8:30 am worked for 50 min then stopped and stood around for 1 hour waiting for others to show. They showed and took an "early lunch." Lots of talking and lots of cuss words. Other guys that showed worked for another hour and a half and cleaned up partially and left at 11:50 am. Still some dead wood in the Oak that was supposed to be cleared and still low hanging branches left. Perimeter and canopy minimally changed. $1560. ?? read more

Godzilla's Tree Service How do I start? I was warned about this company and I still thought maybe it's all just hear-say. I am a little hesitant to be the first to write a review, But WTF here goes. I contacted Godzilla's in early May, I was trying to get a bid to clear limbs and branches from our neighborhood roadways, I won't disclose our exact location but will say that we have 2.8 miles of country rural roads that wind up and down the hills near Placerville. It's typical El Dorado county roads with Oak trees and bushes along the edges. We have in the past done all of our own tree trimming, what I mean is we have had a few days of Neighbor to Neighbor tree trimming get together where we rent a power chipper and do everything ourselves, It's a lot of work and with 7 or 8 volunteers it usually takes us 5 - 6 Hours. You should know that we are not a bunch of young kids. Our neighbors are all in the early senior years as yours truly is just about to turn 62. This season (Spring 2011) we as board members decided to hire out this grueling task and let the professionals handle it. I got three bids. Godzilla's came in a little high but we thought that because Godzilla was a local company and the other two companies were not, lets give them a try. I personally rode with the manager and the owner around the entire job and personally pointed out every last detail of what we wanted and expected to be completed. All of the time Godzilla's manager agreed and said that he totally understood. Even writing down specifics so as not to forget some down the road (no pun intended) Our B.O.D. ( Board Of Directors) all agreed and passed the bid unanimously. As I remember the job crew started work approx. June 23rd. The crew that arrived consisted of the driver, The Cutter, and the Chipper operator... Everything at this point looked OK. Nearly 5 days passed and the job was still not complete. I contacted the Owner and was told the job was done.. I explained that not only was the job not done but it wasn't even half complete. He sent the manager to see me and again we drove around the neighborhood. I was promised that the job would be done in the next few days and that he completely understood all that was left to completed. I think this time I waited 3 weeks before contacting them again and this time I was told that some of the equipment had broken down and they would complete the job very soon. It's now July 25th and when I called to find out why the job was still not complete, I was told that the job was done and that he unilaterally decided that they were completely finished and that I could go @#$ #$$$# ^&^$# @#$% (I wont use that exact term, but I'm sure you can figure it out for your self) Needless to say I was not pleased. I also wondered why someone would go to such extremes to screw up a good job. The Crew was awful; the job was terrible and very unprofessional, they have no idea how to properly trim trees and they left tree-trimming chips and leaves lying on the ground for weeks, the streets were covered with debris (chipped limbs and leaves). Some of the larger branches were not back cut before they were removed and left large tears in the tree trunks were the bark was split away. This company is the worst Tree Service company I have ever worked with. My advise to you is STAY CLEAR of GODZILLA'S. I see that there are two different tree trimming company's called the same. This is specifically Godzilla's on Mortara Circle, Placerville, Ca. Unfortunately YELP will not allow us to leave No Stars and for that reason only you will see a ONE start review. Don't be misled.... This is a ZERO rated company. Absolutely the Worst... Take my advise, and with a black felt tip pen scratch it out of your phone book, delete it from your Google search list, Stay Clear and save yourself the aggravation. read more

This guys were very good. They had good rates and they were extremely pleasant to work with. They showed up on time and removed the trees ahead of schedule (originally planned for 2 days and finished in 1). When I came home there were no remnants of the trees anywhere. I expected a bunch of stuff to be all over the yard where the trees had been cut down but instead everything...I mean everything was gone. Apparently a couple of minor things on my house got busted (1 roof tile and 1 pool equipment pipe) but they fixed both immediately which was awesome. Super friendly and I can't recommend them enough. read more

The large ash tree they took down was close to my home and fence, yet they were able to take it down without any problems! I have tried other tree services in the past, but found this one to be the cheapest and most professional. The crew was on time and very friendly. They did an outstanding job removing two trees from my business. I got another quote from another company, but it took them forever to call me back and when they did they sounded annoyed on the phone-- as if I was bothering them. Customer service is key. This company was pleasant to work with and eager to get my business. Plus the crew was clean shaven and tidy in appearance. I've been clearing my rural property of a bunch of small trees and manzanita bushes for fire safety, and had a pile of brush over a hundred feet long to be chipped. Godzilla's was the contractor chosen by my local Fire Safe Council to do my chipping (free to me!), and they did an outstanding job. I had thought some of my old, dry iron-hard manzanita might be unchippable, but the whole pile was gone and the area cleaned up in about two hours. I was napping (funny -- what I thought was me snoring was probably them chipping the manzanita!) and didn't even know they'd been there until I looked out at the pile and it was gone. I need some other trimming for trees overhanging my house and will be contacting them about that job. read more

We had a huge dead oak tree up against our house and we were really worried that if it started to crack and split we would end up with a tree crashing through our roof. I called several tree services for estimates and Godzilla's was the most affordable so we went with them. Mike, the owner, was so helpful and friendly and really went out of his way to assure us that the tree would be removed without any problems. When we got home from work, the tree was gone - no worries! The guys didn't leave any mess and you could not even tell that there had been a tree removed from the yard. Extremely lazy and rude crew. Left empty sunflower seed bags all over our property. Have to keep an eye on them as they work because they will stand around BSing when they know you are not watching. Showed up late, took long lunch, and started packing up a half hour before they were scheduled to end. We paid for 8 hours of work and maybe got 6. These people are nice, maybe a little unorthodox, but nevertheless good people! I called for a bid and Mike and his crew came by as agreed and gave me a verbal quote that was very competitive. Since they didn't have their bid contract handy that day, they came by early next day and dropped off written bid with an apology and a little discount off price. This was impressive. I definitely would have chosen them to do the job, but husband found some family help to cut the tree down. These guys are great. Ross, the estimator and tree climber was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. Their bid was very fair and competitive and they were very flexible in scheduling the job. It was done sooner than I expected, including impeccable cleanup. All 3 crew members were friendly and professional. They even helped me unload a delivery of lumber that had arrived. This review is for the Placerville Godzilla's Tree Service. I was just made aware there are two companies by this name. I'm assuming all the good reviews are not for Godzilla's in Placerville. I can barely even give this company 1 star. From the very beginning of our dealings with them it was a disaster. My husband took the day off work because they gave him an arrival time of 10:00. They did not arrive any time NEAR 10:00, neither did they bother to call him and let him know the time would be different. My husband had to keep calling and he got a different answer each time, "They should be there anytime", "they should be there shortly". Finally I came home from work at 1:00 and Godzilla tree service was still not there and had not bothered to call and notify us as to why. So I called them. I spoke with Michael and he said, " they should be there anytime." I called a little later and asked what the plan was since they had still not arrived. I spoke with a very rude woman who told me that my husband had been told that the crew was having truck problems (this was NEVER told to my husband) and in the middle of my response she handed the phone back to Michael. Michael went on to tell me that the crew had vehicle problems and he was just finding out about it. The phone then got handed back to the rude lady who told me that the crew was about 40 minutes away. I had my son going down our one way driveway to keep checking to see if the crew was there yet. I also had a girl leave my house going down our one way driveway . Since the tree was being cut down over our driveway and since there is only room for one vehicle going down or up it would not have been possible for her to make it down the driveway if the crew had been here. The crew finally got here and did the job. When they arrived nobody bothered to come and tell us or get anything signed or make sure there was any knowledge of their presence, same as when they left. The only reason we knew they were there was because my son was riding our quad down to check if they were here and witnessed their arrival. Michael is now trying to charge us double the work time it took to do the job. When my husband made the initial call Michael told him it would be $190.00 an hour. We paid the $190.00 for a job that took them 45 minutes. That was the Time it took them from the time they pulled up to the time they pulled away. Weeks later, after receiving our payment, Michael called and left a message on my husbands work voicemail and personal cell voicemail and in both messages told my husband that if he didn't call him back by 5:00pm that day and didn't pay the whole amount then my husband would not "like the end result". I called Michael back and I listened to his reasoning as to why he thinks we owe him double. According to him he had told my husband it COULD take him 2-3 hours for the job and he wouldn't know until he got here. Not sure why he thinks just because he told my husband that it COULD take that long that he can charge double the amount, it only took 45 minutes. After listening to Michaels string of inconsistencies I disagreed that we owed him more than the hour we paid and he told me he would be taking us to court and called me a bitch as he hung up. This company is very unprofessional at the least! They are not trustworthy, dependable or professional. Between dealing with Michael and his rude lady friend I am actually surprised they are still in business! Never have I had a business person call me a bitch. My advice is to Definitely check into different tree service companies. If you have to use this company be very cautious and watch everything they do. read more

Mike had been drinking, and was showing off for his workers who were giggling in the background. He quoted $1,675 (over $1,000 more than the pro who eventually did the job) and was hostile about it. On the recommendation of my homeowner's insurance company, I called Godzilla. Ross and I played phone tag for an estimate for a bit as I can be hard to get ahold of, but he never gave up and I am glad he didn't! Ross was so professional and very helpful with suggestions during the free estimate on all my huge, old maple trees that were becoming unsafe around my home. Everyone else I got a quote from wanted to take one tree down, but Ross had great ideas on how to simply cut it shorter to generate new growth and eliminate the dead, dangerous parts. Plus he offered great ideas on trimming back the 3 other ones, and all for a price much more reasonable and affordable than anyone else. Ross and the crew showed up on the workday even a bit earlier than promised, and just worked like crazy with hardly even a break during the hours they spent here. They were nice, friendly, professional, and cleaned up everything perfectly. They even stacked the large pieces of wood we wanted to save for a neighbor who wanted them for an event they were having, which saved me money. I expected the wood to be left in big pieces, but they cut them into workable sizes for us! They were thorough and easy to work with. Kelly at the office was pleasant every time I spoke with her, too. Ross looked over everything with me before he left to make sure I was happy, and they did exactly what they promised they would. There are no words to describe how incredibly satisfied I am with the level of their customer service. Especifically Ross! He came to my house a few weeks ago and gave me an estimate of the work that needed to be done on my ugly and very large cottonwood. He explained all there is to know about the tree and why he suggested the work that needed to be done. I work very hard for my money and with no hesitation I can say that this was money well spent! Today, when he came to do the job he explained once again what he was going to do and at the end ask me to inspect the work for any changes. Not to mention the two guys that were with him were very respectful of him and worked all the time while he was on the tree. The clean up was excellent and in my opinion above and beyond. I got three bids to trim 7 oak trees at my Placerville home and this company was the lowest bidder, and also the only bidder without a bucket truck. I knew they would not get every little branch the way a bucket truck might but I wasn't willing to pay the large additional sum for that level of work. I was impressed with what they did manage to do with a tree climber. I have hired them again to cut down a few trees and clear debris on another part of my property, and have referred them to a neighbor. The three-member work crew was polite, courteous and respectful. And Clint, the estimator, was the same. All very trustworthy. This is now my go-to company for tree service. Glad to have found them. read more

I recently had godzillas tree service out to my rather large property to do a bid on numerous trees, removal of stumps and trimming. They arrived on time to do the estimate, they explained every detail of what needed to be done and answered all my common questions. After other estimates i chose to go with godzillas because they seemed reliable and had a very reasonable price. The job was completed within the same week of estimate and i was thrilled with the results! I will always choose godzillas for now on! Even when i need fire wood. I read the previous review of this company and it came to my attention that this person implied that someone used volatile language with them, then proceeded to say that they were elderly. I recently had Godzilla's Tree Service remove a few trees and trim dead branches out of others. They came out, looked at my job, gave me a fair price and handed me a written estimate. Some of the work was in very tall trees hanging over the house. The work was completed just as promised and without any problems. I also had one stump that needed grinding. They told me, in advance, that it would be done on another trip, but that it would be completed within a short period of time. Again, they did exactly what they said. Absolutely unbelievable!!! I have had many tree services come onto my property to cut trees. Granted these guys may be cheaper, but don't let the price full you, even salt looks like sugar. They said they were here two hours before my SURVEILLANCE cameras caught them. I don't know that is. However, after watching the footage (to check the time because I have heard bad news about them) not only did I notice they weren't punctual and they weren't honest people, they would throw things into my neighbour's yard! Great job!! I have a 75' oak tree that was filled with mistletoe.The young man spent 6 hours taking out that mistletoe and a bunch of dead branches. Anything that was large enough to burn was cut into 16" pieces and stacked under the tree. After they left it there was zero debris left on the ground. I would definitely give them a referral. read more

I hired Godzilla's Tree Service to take out 8 trees, clean up deadheads on several other trees, and clean up and remove one downed digger pine. They showed up on time and worked steadily throughout the day on a very rainy day. At least one of the trees had to be cut down in sections, while taking great care in order to fell this large oak tree without damage to property. The job was estimated to take 2 days but Godzilla's got it done in 1. The guys were all very professional and skilled tree removal experts. I could not be more pleased with the wonderful, affordable and very professional service. They were half the price or even more than half of other Tree service company estimates. They arrived exactly when they said they would and worked straight through till they were finished. They didn't charge extra for chipping limbs and cutting the tree into 16" rounds. Some of the estimates I got from other Tree service companies were hundreds of dollars extra for chipping limbs and cutting rounds. It started pouring rain while they were working and they continued the work unfazed until they were finished. Once they were finished removing the tree, they cleaned every drop of tree mess and took it all with them. They left it cleaner than it was when they got here. All that was left was the rounds that they cut the exact length for me to use for firewood next year! Once again I couldn't be happier with this awesome service! Absolutely not worth the price. Promised to fall a large, leaning oak tree downhill into the field on our property. Instead, fell it the other direction onto the neighborhood roadway. Once that was done, Floyd came down and demanded payment quickly and left, obviously because he didn't want any of us to see that nothing he promised was done. Contacted the office and they asked if it was in the contract. Of course it wasn't! It was a verbal agreement with the crew performing the service. So basically blew $600 on this debacle.
