Hands down, I would recommend Golden Roots to do your tree trimming. Started 1/23/26: I used Yelp's projects to request 10 different quotes from Sacramento CA area. I had no idea what the cost was going to be as I have a large 40yr valley oak that needed to be trimmed. Golden Roots was one of the first responders on the Yelp app was available right away. I met with Carlos for a free estimate and to inspect the job. He was on time, knowledgeable about tree trimming and specifically Valley Oaks. He recommended weight reduction on the end of , removed dead branches, and not to exceed more than 20%. He also had the lowest quote of all 10 tree services I had come out and review my trimming job. I took a 1.5 weeks to review all quotes and I awarded him the job. We scheduled to do trimming a 2 weeks out(I delayed, he was able to do in less than a week). 2/9/26: Day of the tree trimming job. Carlos showed up 15 minutes early from 730AM to walk the job before start and to discuss any final points. His team of 3 showed up before 7:30AM as well. They wasted no time getting their tools and equipment ready and set up for the job that day. Specifically, they brought plywood to line my home and walkways from the back to the front where they would be carrying the cut branches to be shredded in the front. The tree was located in the back my property. Carlos and another of his workers were up in the tree with harnesses and ropes cutting the branches, while two other guys were cleaning up and carrying the branches out to the front. No spikes were used or cleats just work boots in the climbing. The smaller branches they just let fall, but the larger branches 4"+ inches in diameter, he lowered with ropes. Nothing was damaged, from falling branches, the team did an excellent job of moving items out of harms way and cleaning up after themselves with rakes and blowers. We did a final walk-through to inspect the work and little things to tidy but they removed them as well. They did an awesome job and I was very pleased with their work, paid them promptly and even gave them a tip. My backyard is home to five 40-year-old Mayten trees that once provided a lush, umbrella-like canopy over a flagstone seating area. It also provided much needed shade to the west facing back of the house. I originally contacted your service regarding one failing Mayten tree. After BEING ADVISED to wait until fall to remove the tree in order to prevent sunburn to the trees behind it, I agreed. I also requested a 'light' trim to the underside of the remaining four trees, being assured the healthy trees would only receive a light trim to avoid sunburn sensitivity the Mayten trees are susceptible to. Maytens (Maytenus boaria) are notoriously sensitive to "lion-tailing" (thinning the interior too much), which can lead to bark splitting and branch failure. Instead, they were pruned so severely they now resemble Charlie Browns Christmas tree. I am devastated by this transformation and pray that these majestic trees--and the delicate shade plants now exposed beneath them--survive the resulting sun exposure. I am now seriously concerned about the long-term survival of my remaining trees due to this negligent service. read more

Lorenzo really knows his business. I got five estimates and his was lowest. But that's not why he got the job. He told me things about my trees that no one did.
