We used this company several years ago and the service was fine. Today definitely not. We were told via phone call that they would be out today to help with our septic problem. This was followed up by an email confirming our appointment today. This was followed by another phone call from the owner saying they would be a little late but were onroute. We're new users of a septic system. We moved into our house three years ago and were a little surprised when nothing would go down the drain. After confirming the outlet lines weren't clogged we called Goebels at about 4 PM and spoke to Becky. Becky was very helpful and scheduled us for service the next afternoon. At about 1:15 we got a call from Marcellis and the pump truck was at our house by 2:00. Marcellis was very nice and took the time to show us the septic system and explain how it worked. (There's a filter? Really?) By 2:30 the tank was pumped out and we test flushed everything before the caps were reinstalled. Marcellis was able to give us recommendations for how we clean our filter and how often we should schedule the pumping service before he left. Our septic tank's second compartment appeared to be over-full last month, and since it had been three years since we last drained the tank, I began to look online for a reputable septic company. Goebel Septic was the only company in our range with an A+ Better Business Bureau rating and no bad reviews to be found. We managed to reach the appointment date without a major poop disaster (appointments were a week out), and a Goebel employee came out and inspected the tank and pump. He showed me that yes, the tank was full and needed draining, but that the outgoing baffle was full, and this was why the second compartment was overflowing; the effluent was not able to enter the drain field due the baffle. The baffle, if you do not know, if a sieve-like thing that acts as a filter to prevent solid material from entering your drain field. Once he pulled our baffle out, the excess effluent entered our drain field. At this point, he said, "Your pump is still running. It should not be doing that." We walked over to the pump, and one of the floaty things had detached from its hanging spot and had fallen on top of the box in the pump. Our pump had been running dry for a day! We were lucky that we had the tank drained when we did. The cost for our 1,500-gallon tank to be drained was $420, tax and county sewer dump fees included. The employee then told me that I could have zip ties put back on the floaty things (I forget their names), or we could have a tree installed that would be more secure and not rust, break, or allow the floaties to, well, float away in the wonderful, odorous miasma that is the poop lake in our pump. It is a good thing that we made an appointment for today, because last night, six days after our tank was drained, our septic alarm went off. Today, the company's pump technician came out and installed the pump tree as was explained. He said that the alarm was going off only because on one the three floaters had fallen off its cord. False alarm, he said. No need for worry. Once he plugged the runaway poop balloon back in, the red light on our alarm system turned green again. He installed the tree quickly and closed the pump back up tightly. The bill for the tree and service fee was minimal and reasonable, too. Even better, he shared with me of some things that other companies have been known to do in order to get more money off customers, the trade secret scams, if you will. The one that stood out was that employees from scam artist companies, the likes of which you can easily find reviewed here, will break the ingoing or outgoing baffle in your tank when removing it, or worse, bust it up when you are not looking, if you are not attending them. Then they either tell you another baffle cannot be installed and quote some ridiculous repair price, or they will charge you upwards of $300 to install a new one. Oddly, seven or eight years ago, we had this exact same experience with a large septic company, one that has receive very bad reviews on Yelp. The entire bill for the day, that day, was $1,500. Our tank was drained, a new baffle was installed, and some bio-enzyme material was put into the pump. This means that the enzyme material, the baffle, and the service charge added up to $1,000. Yowza. And of all wonders, I was not watching when the employees from the other company "inspected" the baffle. And by inspected, I now think I mean boot-stomped. I highly recommend Goebel for the follwing reasons: 1. The company is family-owned and depends on satisfied customers, not the volume of customers. 2. The two employees who came out were polite and had no qualms whatsoever with letting me watch what they were doing. They explained a great deal that I verified on online plumbing forums. 3. The price was right. 4. They arrived on time for their appointments. 5. They have an A+ BBB rating. 6. I can find no bad review of Goebel online, anywhere. 7. The employees put everything in my backyard--including a fence board--back exactly as it was before they arrived. No huge poopy mess or broken fence boards. I will be calling Goebel for all my septic tank needs from now on. read more

Long story short: I can't speak on their pumping services, but Goelbel's Septic Tank Service will do a shoddy, superficial inspection of your septic system. In my case, it cost me $2,346.29 and they exhibited very poor customer service. Details below: I recently bought a home with a septic tank that was "inspected" and pumped prior to the sale by Goebel's. The inspection report stated that all components were inspected and fully functional, but 3 days after closing on the house (which was 6 weeks after the inspection), our master toilet stopped flushing. Of course my first thought was that the problem was with the toilet itself, but after having a plumber snake the toilet and main line without any success, he opened up our septic tank and told me that the tank was overfull and leaching out onto our lawn. Great. So then I had a septic company come out and take a look, and he said that the power cord going to our effluent pump had corroded all the way through, and the whole pump needed to be replaced, but he wasn't able to do it. My first thought was "Oh, I'm going to look up the company that did the inspection and see if they can come out and fix it". At this point, 2 of the 3 toilets in our house weren't flushing anymore, so I promptly called Goelbel's and was put in touch with Becky. At this point, I didn't suspect any wrongdoing on Goelbel's part, I just wanted to find someone that could come out and fix it before we had a major septic emergency. I explained to Becky that they did the inspection on my septic system, but now the pump needed to be replaced, and she took down my info and said 'the best I can do is have the septic supervisor give you a call back, but it might be late tonight". This was on a Friday afternoon, but no one ever called. I tried calling several other septic companies Saturday and no one could fix it anytime soon, but luckily we made it through the weekend with our solitary working toilet still going strong. I called Becky back on Monday afternoon to see why no one called and whether they could fix our pump soon, and she was very defensive for some reason and said "the supervisor got done late Friday, so he just went home". I was annoyed at that, but whatever, I just wanted someone to fix our septic system. Then she told me that they don't even do repairs, all they do is pump out septic tanks. What? Why couldn't she have told me that on Friday? I'm over here holding out hope that they would come out ASAP and replace my pump and then I find out, after 3 days, that they don't even do any service? Why is the company called Goelbel's Septic Tank SERVICE then? Anyway, then I asked why the technician didn't see at the inspection that the power cord was corroded almost all of the way through on the pump, because that much corrosion doesn't happen in 6 weeks. Becky said "Look, we don't offer any kind of guarantee or anything with our inspections, OUR TECHNICIANS JUST LIFT THE FLOAT AND SEE IF THE PUMP COMES ON." Yes, she actually said that. That's their inspection process, despite the 2 page inspection report I received. Well, needless to say, I didn't have any further communication with Goelbel's after that point. I finally got someone out to pump out the tank, again, and replace the pump. Final cost: $2,346.29. That's how much money Goelbel's could have saved me by doing a half decent inspection. Oh and as a final kicker, I asked the service tech that replaced the pump why the septic alarm never came on if my tank was overflowing. His response "Oh the alarm isn't even hooked up." Yeah, the wire that runs from the septic tank to the alarm box in my garage was disconnected... ON BOTH ENDS. Hmmm... let's check Goelbel's inspection report. Alarm- this component was fully inspected. Alarm mechanism functioning as intended- Yes. What a joke. read more

I called to schedule a routine spetic pump/inspection and had fantastic service from the lady who scheduled our appointment to the driver who came to pump our spetic. He was friendly, arrived on time and got right to work. He had our spetic done in a half hour and when he left you wouldn't have known a huge spetic truck had driven over the yard or pumped the tank. I got a note from the county and had to find a pumper to come out and take care of the county's request. I checked out the Olympia Master Builders member list and called Goebel's. I told them I needed the tanks pumped and a report. The tech got out there, inspected the tanks and called me. Turns out my tanks were not in need of pumping and since an alarm was going off, he checked the functionality of my system. System was operating properly so he suggested I call someone else to check the wiring. He didn't know I had already called the company who installed my system and they were coming out after he completed his work. Sure enough, it was a wire. Goebel's could've pumped my tanks and left without looking any further, I hadn't hired them for the alarm that was going off, just the pumping. I appreciated the extra effort and not doing work that didn't need to be done. He left the paperwork the county needed and I was left with a much smaller bill than anticipated. read more
