My 7 year old son is currently obsessed with dragon ball so we've finally made it here and he was more than pleased, walking in with stars popping out of his eyes. We decided to come to the Staten Island location because I saw that the manhattan location is very small and I just thought it would be easier for parking here as well which is a plus. As we walked in on Labor Day afternoon, there was only a table of customers so although the restaurant is is small, they were able to easily accommodate my party of 7. The menu looked good with a lot of comfort food from Hong Kong and I had high expectations after reading the reviews online. After we placed our order, I attempted to go to the restroom only to find out they don't have one and I was directed to go to stop and shop 2 blocks away. This is apparently legal but unacceptable IMO given they offer dine in option. I came back 25mins later after going to a very disgusting and smelly restroom which made me lose my appetite, the food was already all out with my family almost done with their meal (hence my photos of the food have all been digged in). The portion size was small but the main issue I had was it all seemed like reheated frozen food from the super market. The scallion pancake was oily and dense, the wonton noodle came out with the Shanghai style noodles instead of the egg noodles as shown in the photo and they told us they ran out of the egg noodles. Just how bazaar is that? They should've just told us it's sold out. The wonton was tiny and tasteless. The braised beef noodles was however decent. The noodles were al dente, the beef were tender and flavorful. The Roti itself wasn't as flaky as I would like but the curry sauce was surprisingly good. It was creamy with a hint of coconut taste and just the right amount of kick to it. The dumplings literally just taste like the frozen ones from the supermarket so there's nothing much to comment - it's edible. Overall, I think this is a cute themed restaurant we would go once just for the experience. It's convenient with parking but not having restrooms available is a turn off. The food was below average and I would probably not return again. So go if you are a major dragon ball fan and would just like to experience it. Just don't have any expectations for the food. read more

So let me break down my review to rationalize our whole experience: Service - 5 stars. Ken is very attentive and tries his best to provide us with everything we need, along with his recommendations of what he thinks we might like. He's extremely friendly and a pleasure to chat with! Drinks quality and price - 5 stars. The drinks are delicious and relatively cheap compared to many other restaurants. My wife loved their hot jasmine tea and would definitely come back for the drink again! Food quality and taste - 5 stars. The food are all incredibly tasty and brings us back to Hong Kong, illustrating a high level of authenticity! It's very nostalgic for us and we definitely enjoyed the flavor of the dumplings, wonton, and noodle! Food quantity and price - 1.5 stars. This is where I think they can definitely and easily improve upon. As you can see from our pictures, a bowl of their pork is about a bit bigger than the size of a metro card. It's incredibly flavorful but for 13 bucks, it definitely feels very lacking. The dumpling noodle soup was similarly undersized. We understand that there's definitely not a lot, if any, dumpling shops around in Staten Island, but for 13 dollars to come with only 5 dumplings and a small portion of veggies, it definitely feels insufficient unfortunately. If they increased the portion size, this would have been a perfect meal for the price they cost. Their food selection is definitely on the higher end in terms of quality and price, but it really does unfortunately feel overpriced (I.e., 2 dollars for each soup dumpling is pricey). Overall, it's a nice restaurant that looks aesthetically pleasing and has amazing service. Their drinks are great but their food portions are unexpectedly small for its price. Excellent concept! I loved Dragon Ball Z as a kid. I remember watching everyday after school. And playing with the action figures. This place made me really nostalgic for my childhood. It's really hard to find good Dim Sum on the island. But Goku Kitchen is doing a great job! The Xiao Long Bao and Pan Fried Pork Buns here are excellent. I honestly came here to take pics of this great Dragon ball Z collection and decided to try out some items from the menu. I ordered pan fried pork buns, jumbo teriyaki octopus balls, steamed bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings and curry chicken bowl with white rice. I'll start we my least fav dish, the teriyaki octopus balls were meh, but all the other dishes were mad good. The city chicken had a nice kick to it and the portions was a good size. Came here with my husband since he is a Dragon Ball Z lover. Upon ordering, we noticed that half the items were not available ( majority of the sodas) and the fact that they had NO BOTTLE WATER !! ( only tap, which is disgusting). We ordered a decent amount of food and 90% of it was cold. The only decent thing that they had ( that I would recommend) is the Jasmine Milk Tea ( if you want bubbles forget about it cuz they dont have any) and the pork gyozas ( pray that theyre hot) .
