Realllly good food. Everything tasted fresh. My mom had beef with broccoli and loved it.

    Spicy Shredded Chicken Noodle Soup

Here's another empire east location that never fails me! Born in Manhattan Chinatown, Breed in Brooklyn Chinatown, I'm always looking for Chinese food (like authentic Chinese food). I seem to have a fifth sense when I want to locate one. So then, I decided to give this place a try. In reality my coworkers recommended this place, they call it "sister". Walked in, oh boy looks like an American Chinese. I wonder if this place would fail me, was my 1st instinct. Then I looked over the menu, and saw it's more like fusion asian: cantonese, schichuan, Thai, Vietnamese. So I decided to go for the spicy shredded beef noodle soup. I wanted to see how authentic they were so I decided to go for hor fun noodles. To my surprise, they had it. My first sip into the noodles I was surprised and covered in joy. Perhaps it's the overloaded msg, hot oil, delicious broth, or it may be my craving for authentic Chinese on the island. Either way, it was good. Since then I've been going to Empire East (there are a few on the island) for Cantonese food. I've tried their eggplant chicken over rice, wonton noodle soup, Thai chicken wrap, Dan Dan noodles, etc. they never disappoint and it satisfies my craving when I'm on the island.

There's not a lot of Thai food restaurants near where I live, so I wanted to try out this place when I found out they have a Pan-Asian cuisine. COVID note: I would recommend to call in for pick up before heading there. The entrance to the restaurant served as the cash register and no one can go in to the restaurant. I simply gave my number associated with the order since it was already prepared. It was a quick and efficient transaction with limited contact. Appetizer: Thai Spring Rolls was a nice starter. It was very juicy and did not require the use of the sauce that accompanied the dish. Main: Pad Thai with chicken was the dish I was looking forward to eat. I've tried Pad Thai dishes in varies places and was curious to gauge how they fared. Overall, it was very good, a bit dry however with a squeeze of the lime it made it better. There was a generous amount of chopped peanuts and chicken. There was a generous amount of noodles and I was able to save a half for the next day. The dishes here were very good and definitely would come back for more pad Thai.

    Seafood noodle soup

Okay I've only done takeout of their seafood soup with udon noodles, but it is the best and I can't bring myself to try anything else. So anyway, it comes with shrimp and scallops and crap meat and veggies and tons of noodles and crunchy things and lots of broth. It's $13 but it's so filling it could be 2 meals. Or one the way I do it. I put off reviewing for a while since I literally always get drawn into one item and I get it to go, but I've done it many times, so I think my enthusiasm shows that it is worth a good review.

    Fried Chicken Wings

The Lo Mein is one of the best dishes I've ever had in Staten Island. The price is a bit higher than other places but decent for the portion they give. As for fried chickens, they give the whole piece rather than just drumstick or chicken wing.

We decided to come to the Staten Island location because I saw that the manhattan location is very small and I just thought it would be easier for parking here as well which is a plus. As we walked in on Labor Day afternoon, there was only a table of customers so although the restaurant is is small, they were able to easily accommodate my party of 7. The menu looked good with a lot of comfort food from Hong Kong and I had high expectations after reading the reviews online. After we placed our order, I attempted to go to the restroom only to find out they don't have one and I was directed to go to stop and shop 2 blocks away. This is apparently legal but unacceptable IMO given they offer dine in option. I came back 25mins later after going to a very disgusting and smelly restroom which made me lose my appetite, the food was already all out with my family almost done with their meal (hence my photos of the food have all been digged in). The portion size was small but the main issue I had was it all seemed like reheated frozen food from the super market. The scallion pancake was oily and dense, the wonton noodle came out with the Shanghai style noodles instead of the egg noodles as shown in the photo and they told us they ran out of the egg noodles. Just how bazaar is that? They should've just told us it's sold out. The wonton was tiny and tasteless. The braised beef noodles was however decent. The noodles were al dente, the beef were tender and flavorful. The Roti itself wasn't as flaky as I would like but the curry sauce was surprisingly good. It was creamy with a hint of coconut taste and just the right amount of kick to it. The dumplings literally just taste like the frozen ones from the supermarket so there's nothing much to comment - it's edible. Overall, I think this is a cute themed restaurant we would go once just for the experience. It's convenient with parking but not having restrooms available is a turn off. The food was below average and I would probably not return again. So go if you are a major dragon ball fan and would just like to experience it. Just don't have any expectations for the food.

I got a call from the restaurant 2.5 hrs. prior to my reservation time, telling me that there is a conflict, they have a party booked for that room tonight so we couldn't use the party room. When I questioned how that was possible since I booked the room over 3 weeks in advance, I was told that the person who booked my dinner was unaware that they were in negotiations with this other party, that they hadn't received a down payment yet from them and that was why it wasn't in the computer. I was told that this was a $120/head party with open bar. I found the entire story to be sketchy and difficult to believe. Because it was so close to the time of our group's dinner, I had no choice but to allow them to set us up at a table in the middle of the restaurant. While they did a nice job setting up the table with tablecloths and making it nice, this did not meet the needs of our group at all. This is a group that meets monthly and who like to socialize with each other after dinner, change seats around and chat with each other. Being in the middle of the restaurant it was impossible for us to do this. The party room would have been perfect. The restaurant closed at 10 pm the day we were there. I left at 8pm and there was still no one in the party room, so I feel the story given to me was made up and there was no big party being held in that room on that evening. They likely did not want to use that space, perhaps staffing or some other reason. I would have preferred to be told the truth; it would have sat much better with me than the story I was told. I also did not believe that they had the possibility of a big party and it wasn't in the computer for the staff to be aware that the room would possibly be occupied that night. The food was good, although two of our group said their dish was cold. Sushi was fresh. Service was good, staff was attentive. I am definitely never going to use this restaurant again to book our group dinner, but I might go again for a lunch or possibly a dinner with just a couple of other people. I'm very disappointed in how they changed my reservation at the last minute, and the party room remained empty the entire evening.
