Ironically, the people are not the friendliest in the Ballard location- I've shopped there for years but am often ignored by the hipster sales staff even if I'm the only other person. My experience at the University is the opposite- super friendly cashier who was warm and welcoming. They have a beautiful website and Instagram page so there's lots of options to explore this exquisite (but sometimes snooty) business.

He walked me through a CC Filson chore jacket and over the years he was a go to in anything Filson related. Jeremiah was also a go to for my winter needs. The knowledge of the craftsmanship and durability is unparalleled. Every staff that I chatted with including at the outlet are passionate and knowledgeable. It's nice to hear that many staff have put their clothing through the wringer and can share the story of the garment aged. Value, is paying for quality. I am friends with the Freeman owners and it made me happy to see the collaboration. I will have to say that the Filson brand is unfailing. It's unfortunate that Eddie Bauer and other outdoor brands just don't match. I wish post pandemic that many of the products weren't outsourced. I get it. Quality wise Filson is one of the best out there if not the best.

The sales space itself is in an exposed brick 2nd floor unit. The focus of this boutique is locally designed accessories and clothing as well as independent labels. Some pieces are designed by the owner, Audrise. She also carries items by two sisters that recycle vintage Japanese obi into hair clips, cards, and wallets. The selection for men wasn't very large, though she said that there will be more later. Audrise also made some of the men's pants. The prices might seem steep, but if you consider that you won't run into every 5th person in the same mass-produced article it is on par or even cheaper than some chains (read: Anthropologie and the like). Audrise was super friendly without being ingratiating. She even recommended some products from a nearby Ballard store. This will be my new place to go for unique apparel & necklaces (also fashioned by the owner).
