They told me that they were out of gold and instead gave me a cheap metal watch even though I paid for a gold watch.

The only reason they are getting a star is because I had to give them one to post my review. Gold Fever is completely horrible. They do not stand behind their work. I brought a wath into Gold Fever to get a battery installed. The owner called me a week later and told me that the watch needed a new movement and his cost for the movement was $60.00. A few weeks later we got a call that the watch was fixed and ready for pick up. When my wife picked up the watch the bill was $106.00. I wasn't crazy about that but it is what it is. After getting the watch back I could not pull out the crown of the watch and the watch would just stop at 11:30 everyday. It also smelled like a chemical and had a haze on it. No big deal compaired to the watch stopping at 11:30 everyday and not being able to pull ou t the crown. I brought the watch back within the first week of getting it back from them and explained what was going on. The owner was not there but the lady behind the counter took the watch and wrote some notes on the work ticket. Over the next 3 to 4 weeks I called a few times to check the status of the watch and was told on multiple occasions someone would call me back. This never happened. What did happen was after Gold Fever having my watch for an additional 5 weeks someone called me and told me the watch was ready and the bill would be $60.00. I explained to the owner that I was a little confused as they have not fixed the watch correctly the first time. basically be plamed his watch maker and offered to charge me half price. So no. I will never walk into that store again. Complete theaf and they do not stand by their work. i.e. - I paid $106.00 for Gold Fever to NOT fix the watch the first time and was charged $60.00 but only paid $30.00 the second time for them to actually fix my watch. Horrible experience. Wish I read some reviews before I got suckered into this place. Lesson learned... Dropped my watch off in NOVEMBER of 2019, and just received it back today, SEPTEMBER 18, 2020. To boot it still doesn't work, and is running slow. Stuart gave me every excuse under the book for the watch taking so long. His truck broke down..... a death in the family of where he took the watch to get fixed.... covid shutdowns before they even started. Then still charged me for a watch that doesn't work properly. Claiming that was a 'discounted price ' and that he purchased 3 movements for the watch that didn't work. Sorry that isnt my issue. Then hand me back the watch and inform me you cant fix it. Not charge me for a watch that still runs slow, and to boot didn't even say anything to me about it! Just handed me back the watch like everything was honky dory... bottom line THIS PLACE STINKS. Horrible experience! I left my Tag Heuer watch at Gold Fever to be refurbished. I was quoted an estimated price between $150 and $175. When I was informed that the watch was ready to be picked up, I was told that the amount due was now closer to $300. This was supposedly a result of extra parts being needed. Somehow the owner was able to find a way to drop the price down to $223 which I still did not want to pay since I was quoted almost $50 less. The owner was not there when I arrived but an employee did call him to tell him that I was not comfortable paying this price. He didn't care nor did he ask to speak with me. He simply said that the watch could not be released to me unless I paid full price for it and if I wasn't happy with that I could return the following day. Since I live near Atlantic City, returning was not an option. I grew up in Point Pleasant and had only stopped in the shop 3 weeks earlier to look at watches. I left the shop leaving my watch behind because Stuart told me that one of the seals was cracked. He also suggested that I have it refurbished. I'm not sure why I fell for all of that but I left the watch there and hopefully whatever was supposedly wrong with it is now fixed. I was lied to and ripped off. What a horrible way to run a business. Avoid this place if you don't want to be strong armed into over- paying. Better yet, avoid this place completely. read more

I had to send a message today concerning what I had seen yesterday that I found rather troubling. My fiancé and I were coming in to pick up our wedding bands. We had received a call to come and pick them up as they were ready. When we got there, not only were the rings not ready, but there was this rather helpful woman who was trying to help us. She went to what seemed like the owner of the store where he seemed to be visibly short with her until he yelled at the top of his lungs "Shut Up!" When he did this, you can tell that he took everyone in the store off guard. I couldn't begin to tell you how uncomfortable my fiancé and I were at that point. But the woman came over, not missing a beat, and continued to help us as she kept her composure. I've never seen such a blatant display of public abuse in my life, let alone an establishment with such high end offerings. We will have to continue our business with you but in good conscience, we have decided that we can never recommend your store. We also hope that the older gentleman that yelled at the woman that helped us will apologize and realize that people with the soft skills that she possesses are hard to come by. read more

Took my Grandfathers 100 yr old pocket watch to get his INSCRIBED. After 3 weeks they called me to say it was REPAIRED. When I said it wasn't broken, I was told by the owner Stuart that the "repair" was for someone else's watch and mine was fine. When I picked it up, the watch was totally BROKEN! Stuart backtracked and said the mainspring broke when he wound it and it would cost $400.00 to repair. It was working just fine when I dropped it off. He told me it wasn't his fault and wouldn't do anything to have it repaired. The man is a liar, a crook, and not an honorable human being by any stretch of the imagination. My wife and I have been faithful customers for over 10 years, but will never set foot in that place again. Stuart, you should be ashamed of yourself. Buyer beware. Know what kind of person you are dealing with. Would give less than 1 star if possible. Brought a $400 watch in for a battery. The next day it filled up with water. Owner claimed he didn't do anything wrong. Sent it back to the manufacturer who said that GOLD FEVER did not install correctly and he was the cause of the failure. Manufacturer offer to replace the watch at a discount. The owner of GOLD FEVER refused to make good on his mistake and claims he did nothing wrong. Refuses to pay replacement cost. Giving all sorts of reasons it isn't his fault regardless of the clear documentation it is. He told me all about how he works on $15,000 watches. Horrible place. The owner is nasty!! Will never go back. He put me out of my way to replace a watch battery. I was told by his staff to come tomorrow and he would do it while I was there. I drove 30 minutes to get there and she tells me he had to step out to go to the doctor. I went back home and came back the next day. She said he would do it in the morning first thing. I went the next day at 2 pm to get the watch and it still wasn't ready. The nice girl behind the counter asked him if he could put it in being that I was there. He said NO. Scratch his little ass. This place is a rip off. Stay away/ they overcharge. I brought my rolexes in to get serviced, and they charged more than Rolex in NYC. One of them immediately broke after they removed a link. I purchased a tag watch 7 years ago for about $900 since that time I've had three battery changes put in for service four times each time because there was water in the working that I had to pay $275 to have repaired for plastic working the last time I put it in this past August 2021 I took it home and the next day I noticed that the Crystal had fogged up I brought it back it was the next day or two and they said oh yeah water leaked in there and the sales lady check the stem and it was not tight I said I did not touch this damn I got no reason to touch this damn your jeweler do not put the stem incorrectly I'm going to assume that the last two times I had to pay for the inner workings it was because he did not put the gasket seal in the watch correctly which caused it to leak. Well they said they blew it dry which I don't buy. Now I'm told the 7-year watch is old that's a 7-year $900 TAG watches old I cannot use it in the ocean can I use it in the pool I can't even use it in the shower because the shower Force will be blown in the workings of the watch. Are you kidding me. Give me a seven year old watch is old what's the casket for us to keep the water out and I guess they did not want to spend the time to pressurize it. Don't buy here they're gypsies in my opinion not ethical in my opinion but honest in my opinion if you want to get screwed I'll watch there. I am William Soriano and I live in Brick New Jersey. I was devastated when my mom's RayBan glasses broke and I couldn't find a glasses repair shop that could fix it because of how it was soldered. I was referred to Gold Fever by Emerald Eyes and I'm so glad that they were able to fix them. The sunglasses are priceless to me since it was given to me by my late mother. I was just browsing and i didn't feel any pressure and they were very very helpful. I was on the fence about what kind of engagement ring i wanted and Stuart walked me through the different ring styles and colors and which ring shape and size would be the best fit. he answered ALL of my questions and did i mention his prices cannot be beat?!!! PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! I took my engagement ring and wedding band in to repair one loose stone in my wedding band. Since I was there I asked them to check all stones to be sure nothing else was loose. I was VERY CLEAR in telling them that no work was to be done without contacting me first with an estimate. After not hearing from them for several days I called back and was told that an estimate would be hard to give as this was very complex (I had previously had a stone fall out of this ring and reset and it was a $25 fix). I repeated that nothing was to be done until I had an estimate. Several minutes later I received a call back and the estimate was entirely overpriced so I notified the store that I'd be coming in to pick up my rings and no work was to be done on them. Much to my surprise I was CHARGED for fees that could not be explained in order to get my rings back. I asked the owner to contact me upon his return (he did not). I called back and asked to speak to the owner and when I questioned him he became very hostile and hung up in my ear. Please spare yourself the headache and go elsewhere!! read more
