This review is so long overdue! Our first wedding anniversary is coming up and every time I look at our photos, I am reminded of how amazing Lara is! I don't think I was the easiest bride to work with. I wasn't very specific and my ideas were allllll over the place. Even worse, I didn't know what kind of flowers I liked or even what colors I wanted. Lara was so patient and showed me a million different photos to get an idea of what I liked. I recently got married in May 2017, and had been searching for the perfect florist for my wedding. I lovelovelove flowers and greenery, so making sure that the floral designs were perfect on my wedding day was very important to me. I spent a lot of time searching for someone who was 1) within my budget, 2) available on my wedding date!, and 3) who's design style matched my personality and vibe. Somehow I lucked out after many failed contacts, to stumble upon Flour and Flower! We ended up using them for both our flowers and desserts. Lara is the incredible florist, and her sister Davlyn is the desserts guru. You cannot go wrong with this duo! They are such a great team (and as individual contractors too!). They work with you to make sure you get exactly what you hope for on your special day! Flower: I wanted a lush garden-esque feeling, with greens and whites and a touch of gold. I did NOT want harsh colors stuck together, or strange arrangements of flowers that didn't flow well. Lara and I talked via text, email, phone, and in person many times to make sure we were both on the same page. I had a general idea of what I wanted, with some specific requests, but also wanted to be able to trust my florist to see my vision and do her own thing. Lara worked with me to create all these beautiful things: bride's bouquet, bridal floral crown, bridesmaid's wreath crowns, groom/groomsmen/father's boutonnieres, mother's wrist corsages, tossing bouquet, centerpiece flowers and designs, miscellaneous table designs around the venue, and an archway framing our sweetheart table. How she did that all, I don't know. But what I do know, is that it was incredible, and my day felt so magical. My bouquet (while heavy), was lush and a wild-yet-tame menagerie. My crown was perfect, and didn't itch at all! And the archway!!! I wish I had more time to appreciate it's grandeur. Seriously, everything about my wedding decor and florals were perfect. Flour: My hubby and I decided to not have a wedding cake, so we didn't need to worry about that. But we did need some desserts (and a surprise groom cake!). Davlyn can pretty much bake anything (she probably doesn't want me to say that). Communication with Davlyn was so easy and quick. We went back and forth deciding which desserts to choose, and she helped us decide on a quantity of mini desserts for the amount of guests we had (~300ppl). They were the perfect amount and yummy! Davlyn also helped me create a chessboard grooms cake! I had a few pictures of some I wanted, and when I went to other bakeries they were charging me outrageous prices for a 10" square cake. I didn't even think of asking Davlyn to do the cake since we already had desserts with her, but when I threw the idea out there, she took it and ran! It was incredible, and the details so perfect. She even made the chocolate chess pieces! __________ TLDR: Flower & Desserts/cake=awesome. Great price, great quantity, great quality, great service, and great attention to detail and communication. Flour and Flower Designs was a referral from my best friend who previously owned a flower shop in Laguna. Lara came HIGHLY recommended and I couldn't be happier with the amazing work she did at our beach wedding last summer. First and foremost, she has such attention to detail. Our first consultation she spent over 2 hours on the phone with me looking at Pintrest together, explaining in detail certain flowers, what is in season, and giving examples of her work.
