I started a front yard project recently and have visited all the nurseries in the Redding area. Gold Leaf Nursery by far has the best customer service and helpful staff. This is a smaller nursery compared to others, but they offer a variety of plants and like I said, the customer service is top notch! They didn't have the plant I was looking for in stock but the knowledgeable staff informed me it will be ready for sale at the end of April. I just move to the area and found out about this place seem like a good place when I was there last week. I was just looking around and saw something I like but I couldn't get it at the time but the person that work there said they were going to give me a 20% off which was not bad I wasn't looking for the discount was willing to pay for the price listed. Came back with my truck to pick it up the following few days and supposedly the owner didn't stand by there discount. I was very upset and he wouldn't even offer an apology or anything. But I just went ahead and pay for it full price because I felt bad for the worker already put it in my pickup bed. I didn't care about the discount it was the principle of it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They sold me on a great solution for my landscaping needs and I loaded up my cart with 12 bushes. When I got to the checkout I learned I would have to pay a 3% fee to use my debit card. They said I wouldn't have to pay that if I have cash or a check. A check? I haven't carried a checkbook with me in years. I was buying $240 worth of plants and I don't carry that much cash with me. So it was either pay a fee that amounted to over $7 or drive 15 miles round trip to the nearest ATM, which would cost me about that much in gas. Manager couldn't help. Sorry Green Leaf, I can buy my plants elsewhere. read more

Went to Gold Leaf for my first trip out. It was a rip off, poor service and no communication. After waiting all day for a delivery with friends to help unload the trees ... no call no show. Then we got charged more when delivered after asking repeatedly if everything was paid. This is a very incompetent, understaffed nursery, absolutely a waste of time and money. I'll be returning to Wintour Gardens, they may be crowded, but they have good service, plants and when you've paid you've paid and its done. Possibly why it's crowded. read more

Last spring (2017) prior to the bloom, we purchased a $500 Crepe Myrtle tree from Gold Leaf Nursery. The label on the tree indicated that it would have a deep fire red bloom. This was going to be fabulous against our light colored house. Once the tree bloomed in summer it was not red at all, but white! We called the nursery to inquire as what they would like to do to fix this issue in light of the investment we made in this tree. We were offered a 25% off coupon which was completely unacceptable. This is a a great nursery. Small and yet diverse with excellent deals and knowledgeable staff. Pam helped me greatly recently when I purchased a multi trunk river birch. After getting it home and planted, I went back and bought two more. I've tried other nurseries but Gold Leaf is my "go to" nursery from now on. read more

Excellent selection of wood shrubs and trees. I was impressed by the variety of plants available and how they are displayed around the central patio of the nursery. While other nurseries focus on bedding and color, Gold Leaf is more focussed on woody shrubs, landscape grade plant material, and trees. They offer fruit trees, shade trees, roses, some perennials, groundcovers, and conifers. They also offer sod, and fountains plus a few pots and garden art pieces. Staff is friendly. I tend to shop several nurseries to find plants for clients and Gold Leaf is a great first stop. read more

The prices are spot on fair. I needed help in choosing plants and trees and I got it! The staff and owners are eager to help, explain and make sure you get the garden you want. Ordered 11 trees Gold Leaf in the Winter of 2016-2017. We received 6 Ever greens and 5 maple leaf. After 5 months in the ground, one of the Maple leaf trees completely died within a week or so. After taking pictures and samples to Gold Leaf, no one could figure out why this one tree suddenly died. We did everything right, but this one tree died. All the other trees were thriving. When we ordered these trees we were guaranteed they would thrive. But when I asked Gold Leaf to honor their promise and re-supply us one tree we were simply and swiftly told Sorry. No way. We have been buying trees from Gold leaf for 23 years and built 11 homes and purchased their trees. Apparently that doesn't matter to Gold Leaf. They could have made this right by offering us a tree or even negotiating a compromise, but no. They gave us some excuse that because we bought them on sale there is no guarantee. But we did not. We ordered these trees! I tried to reason with "Pam" and told her these trees were ordered, not purchased from some end of the year sale. She would not even interested in listening. We were careful not to become angry or create any kind of an issue. We calmly asked if that is their final position and without hesitation "Pam" said sorry...that's it. Wow ! Long time customers and they don't care. So we have decided to post a picture of our dead tree in our offices with a caption below saying that this tree was purchased from Gold Leaf Nursery and died and Gold Leaf will not back up their trees. Our clients should know that if they want a guaranteed product, there are at least (to our discovery) two other nurseries in town who will back up their guarantee. We will never go back. read more
