I went in for the first time 06/21/2024. I have never shot before. I was unable to shoot I was so scared. Art came over to me and asked me if I shot and I said no. I told him I was too scared. Well he took me back in the range and spoke with me. He has so much patience with me. He said he would get me to feel comfortable enough to shoot at least 1 time. What a terrible experience. I've never bought a gun from a pawn shop so I had no clue how it worked. Nor does their staff take the time communicate or educate you. Isn't that called helping or customer service? I originally was told I couldn't fill out a background check because my last name was different from my permit versus my license until another employee stepped in and said it was fine. Cool. Moving forward. Background check came back and was called a week later, no voicemail, just a missed call from a number I didn't recognize. Received another call this past Saturday and was told my paperwork was good..I asked if could stop by Friday. Yes. I show up, the gun I had my eye on was gone and I was told my background check was voided. Are you kidding me? And the response was "I tried calling and you didn't put any money down". Never once was it communicated to me to put a deposit down, I don't know how this works. And, I was told I'd have to fill out another form and wait again. Seriously? To me that's pure laziness and that same employee I dealt with gave zero effort to help me at all. I don't work at gold n pawn so thanks for communicating with me what I should've done. I guess I got a lesson today how gun pawn shops work but glad I had to learn the hard way of trial an error because your employees can't be bothered to actually HELP someone or advise them if policies. First, I will admit that this is not some gigantic "we have everything in stock" gun shop. That said, they have quite a selection and the pricing and service are excellent. One bonus is they have a small but varied wheel-gun selection which seems harder and harder to find as everyone goes to the polymer, striker-fired semi-auto. On the other hand, if you want a Sig/Glock/Springfield, etc., Todd knows just about all there is to know about them AND you can rent a broad selection of firearms to "try before you buy" as they say. The range is comfortably air-conditioned and handicapped-friendly. I make the rounds of most of the shops in Hernando, but usually end up buying here. read more

Seems like it could be a nice place but you can never get on the range. Too many retirees with too much time on their hands, and no barriers to keep them from staying all day while us working stiffs have limited time to hit the range. I won't be back. read more

My experience was very satisfying. I purchased a gun from them and when I fired it for the first time the front sight came off. They informed me that it was a factory defect and it would take weeks to return it to the factory, get it fixed, and return it to me. They offered to have their gunsmith fix it at no charge. I agreed and the fixed gun was returned in a timely manner. On the day that the sight came off they did not charge me for use of the range. I fired it again the day it was returned and there were no problems (aside from my inaccurate shooting.) When I went to pay, I was informed that there was no charge. My impression of Todd and the other employees was very favorable. read more

Sweet & sour experience for me. Staff was kind of dry. They weren't jerks, but they weren't really nice either. They were just there. Funny way to be if you're dealing with the public? I did like the fact there was little interference from staff while you are shooting. I'm a very experienced shooter and I have a tendency to get very annoyed when range people are constantly over my shoulder. Absolutely, verify the people who are shooting on your line are doing so in a safe manner. I totally get that, just don't hover. That is the reason I stopped going Hernando sportsman's club years ago. They hover there and almost make you make a mistake by their behavior. This is not only my opinion, it is also the opinion of many others I know who also stopped going there for this reason. G & P on the other hand isn't at all like that and I appreciate that. The thing that really bothers me the most is the fact free range time is offered to patrol deputies and police officers. I am in no way hating on street cops. The issue I have is, I am a detention deputy. Dual certified in law enforcement with an active certification from my agency. I have Been dealing with the lowest of the low for over twenty years. I've had more death threats than I can remember. The fellow from G&P I talked to basically told me I don't carry a gun for a living (which I do, all the time), so I don't need to practice as much as a "real cop." Now don't get me wrong, I don't want anything for free. I actually get very uncomfortable when I'm offered special treatment for what I do for a living. I've taken very little in more than twenty years of service. It's not that, at all. Bottom line my feelings were hurt. This was also done in front of my OLDER brother who was visiting from out of town, embarrassing me a little. It is unlikely I will ever return to this place if that's the way they really feel about corrections/detention! I also suggest my brothers & sisters who share my profession do the same. Btw, I have nothing but the utmost respect for street cops. I attempted it long ago and it wasn't a good fit for me. I've talked to many street cops who said they couldn't/wouldn't do my job either. I in no way discount the danger of being a street cop. People are crazy now and there are a lot of guns on the street. The likelihood of a street cop getting into a shootout or being outright gunned down while eating their lunch is much higher than mine. But, the sheriff I work for does authorize detention to qualify and carry to & from work for a reason. Not to mention there are assignments where detention carries a sidearm all the time. The fellow I talked to didn't want to hear it. So my search for a close by shooting range goes on. And as far as you road guys go, at least they respect you and don't want you guys/gals to get hurt. That at least makes me feel a little better. read more

This was a bad customer service experience all around. Purchased a hand gun from them before, so went in to possibly buy another. I brought a bracelet with me and they wouldn't test it for gold content simply saying it was costume jewelry and fake. Employee was very impolite/rude about it! As a courtesy I called and spoke with one of the owners (prior to this post) who was aware of his employees behavior. read more
