I just got reminded that I never did leave a review for here, I was giving a referral today to somebody whose child also has autism and was looking for a specialty practice that knew how to work with patient's that struggle anxiety, and a sensory processing disorder due to autism. My son checked all those boxes and was petrified after a horrible experience at our regular dentist. He would go and either complete shut down mode or into flight mode if I even mention the dentist after that. This was a few years ago and I said no more - I got a referral through our insurance and they had us come see Dr. Scott and his wonderful staff. I cannot begin to tell you how great this place is. It was almost magical how they put my son at ease from the very beginning. All the equipment is quiet, they offer headphones, tools with less aggressive vibration, scent free and flavorless products if I remember. Everything he's ever complained about hating. And just how the staff talked to him and myself, it was breath of fresh air. After the first visit, he asked how soon he can come back!?! I couldn't believe it. He enjoyed going to an appointment for him, which was a first. We went couple more times, and I'm kind of sad because now that my son is older, he says that he can handle going to a regular dentist. I like that office too, but I really enjoyed all the fish tanks and atmosphere of this office. Definitely make the call and book an appointment for the safety of your child's wellbeing to be in good hands. read more

Dr Scott is so kind and caring he eased all of my parent anxieties even when one of my 5 year olds needed to go under anesthesia for a procedure. The girls safety and fostering good dental habits have always been top priority. His assistants Kelly and Olga are great too. We will always come here until they age out. I really wanted to like this place. I really do! I love the previous dentistry for my 7-yo; however, they no longer take my insurance. So I am forced to find a new pediatric dentist. This lead me to find Gold River Pediatric Dentistry. The first visit was nice and quick. A regular cleaning and check-up was performed. From the examination, they determined that a second visit would be needed for 3-cavities for my son. It was the second visit for the cavities that left me questioning what happened and made me felt regret for my inaction. During the second visit, they took my 7-yo to the back and lied to me that they would come get me 15-minutes after setting my son up as they were prepping to gas him for the procedure. 15-mins passed, no one came to get me, and as I was getting up ready to asked to go to the back, the procedure was already done and my son walked out feeling dizzy and almost fell down as he tried to hold my hand. From this experience, I no longer trust this dentistry that purposely mislead me, as it tells me they are not confident in their skills and procedure. And what I learned is to never let them tell you that you cannot go in the back with your child. My old dentistry never denied me access to the back, but this dentistry lost my trust. read more

They were so so so patient with my 2.5 year old who gets very scared in medical offices. Jenner took the time to talk with us in the lobby for a long time before we even went to the treatment area so my daughter could get used to her. Lots of good tactics for distracting/encouraging a scared toddler to let them get a good cleaning and exam done. My husband and I are thoroughly impressed and will recommend to others! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! As a parent of a child on the spectrum, I know I'm not alone in when I say dental appointments can be terrifying, for the child (and parent). This was my 4 year olds first dental appointment and I was extremely nervous. When we walked were greeted by Teresa, she was so kind and welcoming. The waiting area is nice and calming too. My daughter especially loved the fish! The exam was thorough, but quick! Amanda knows her stuff! She made very good use of the moments my daughter was comfortable enough to allow hands in her mouth :) Kelly was was working on my oldest. Both very pleasant. Dr. Scott was also wonderful, he has an incredible ability to connect with children and make their dental check-ups a fun and relaxed experience. Both were so sweet the way they checked on my daughter through out the procedure and how fast they were. Rude front desk lady. Her name is Teresa. She called the conversation argument when i am simply explaining so I recorded everything for proof. They changed my appointment without my knowledge then blamed me for missing it. I am 9 months pregnant so I always book my appointments in the afternoon because my mom comes over to help watch my daughter. and on the day of the appointment she said the appointment time was in the morning. we waited almost two months to be seen. She proceeded to say the provider, Dr. Scott Pyo is giving 'ORDERS' to not see my daughter. My daughter is only 14 months and have the approved referral from our insurance. Not good. read more

Everytime I come to this office I feel defeated. I feel helpless. If it wasn't for the terrible insurance my kids have I would have had many better options to choose from. With the biggest smile on their faces they give you nothing. Just to get the referral delivered to them and calling and leaving messages that is not returned then call again when they simply can use the computer system they are sitting infront of to find it easly. That's what the insurance representative told me at least. Once this referral issue was resolved they gave me an appointment 3 weeks later ( referral basically allows them to do everything at their pediatric dentist office since my daughter wasn't dealing well with general dentist and she is just 8 so pediatric dentist seems like appropriate, no?) and they would do x-rays then ask you to wait for God knows how long to come back for REGULAR CLEANING as they aren't sure it will be covered at a pediatric dentist!!. You know the one that you get in your very first visit? Yeah, you need to take another day off from work come back for that! And there was no one there and we were there on time so.....? Why not do the cleaning and spare me another visit?? The dentist there came out for less than a minute to tell me to keep watching the new teeth coming out and completely ignored current issues that she has since last year then he vanished. When I asked for that baby tooth to be removed because its pushing the adult tooth from going in the right place and it's too hard to remove and it has been for too long she says " well it won't go back anyway there is no space for it". Well of course there is no space till the baby one is gone and the sooner the better or should we just let it just drift away. Obviously they don't get paid enough by the insurance so they need to have you come several times for small treatments to get paid for more visits. ( how ethical) But they completely ignore how frustrating this can be on a parent who needs to take a day off and his kid miss school just for simple stuff like regular cleaning! If you don't like it with another angelic smile they suggest to go to another office who won't mind ( God forbid) do both x- rays and cleaning in the same day. Well, with all due respect to your practice I would rather find a more ethical more understanding place to go to even if I have to pay out of pocket and I say that with a huge smile on my face. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It was great to be able to find a dentist for the kids that is available during this time. Because of COVID, the office is working at a lower capacity. We were the only patients in the back (maybe because I had both of my kids getting a cleaning). They have made other changes because of the pandemic but they were very friendly and accommodating. We were offered hand sanitizer and our temperature was checked before we went in the back to the patient rooms. (I also had to sign a COVID screening form--typical form). Also, there are less chairs in the waiting room and they're spread apart due to COVID. grateful that they have taken the necessary precautions to keep us safe! The office is still kid friendly. Love that they have fish and turtle tanks! They have movies playing for the kids while they're in the chairs. Dr. P is so friendly!! He can really connect with the kids. He helped my daughter feel comfortable with the check up. Dr P also offered so much information about how to keep taking care of my kids oral health. He helped me dispel common misconceptions when it comes to oral health. The staff was also friendly! They still give out stickers, goodies and balloons! read more

This place is beyond PEACEFUL and BEAUTIFUL! They met ALL my standards. The decor is absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. I took a few photos with my Galaxy S9 and a few with a low tech android and the pictures came out amazing. They way they have it set up is perfect for a child with sensory issues. My 2 sons with autism (3 & 5) had a blast here. They did not have any melt downs because of their decor. Its not super bright inside, its peacefully quiet, they had Netflix set up with a Disney movie on, there was enough space for them to walk around, they had 2 tablets mounted to the wall for them to play over 15+ games, bathroom was very open and clean, the fish tank was OMG and it occupied my sons..i can just go on..even in the dentist room they have the windows covered...i was so thankful that this place thought about all the sensorys when decoring their business. The customer service is beyond friendly and helpful. The staff is very patient! The male dentist that helped me with both my sons appointments was super informative and caring. He joked and played with both of my sons before their exam. They warmed up to him because of that. He took the aniexty and fear away and im so thankful for that. Both dental assistants were friendly and gave their presence made the experience even more comfortable for my sons. This place is amazing..its not like most dentist. Its calm and relaxing. It feels like your on vacation because the decor. It felt like i was checking into a 5 star cabin retreat. Can't wait for my boys next exam! read more

Simply amazing!!!! I was referred to this dental group because my son is autistic and non verbal. I was so pleased with them before I could even show up for the appointment. First of all, they accept straight medical. My kiddo is a foster and finding a decent, clean dentist who takes medi-cal can be challenging. Second, they asked a lot of questions and threw out different scenarios to prepare for any behaviors dues to fears of an autistic child. They wanted to make sure we went in with a solid understand of who he was and what to expect. When we got to the appointment, the office is state of the art from the tablets for kids to play with while in the waiting room to what happens behind the scenes. They are just so thoughtful about everything. I couldn't get over how beautiful the office was and the huge turtles in the turtle tank. They let me feed the turtles too. Do not trust the positive previews!! They don`t belong to the current dentist! They are for the previous dentist Dr. Pivnik who recently sold his practice to a terrible doctor Pyo who ruined our trust in this office. New dentist is very incompetent and rude. He does not bother to talk to parents and explain the treatment plans. Lastly our kids had a teeth cleaning and doctor unwrapped the candies and gave them right after the treatment that we could not even say anything. That was so stupid and unprofessional. We have also recently discovered that they tried to up-sell us and wanted to treat healthy teeth. I`m glad we visited other offices and confirmed that most of the treatment was not needed!! My daughter was referred here from her dentist office and they really are worth the 5 star reviews that they have! I even tried requesting them to be my daughters full time dentist! But it's a specialty place only! Either way I will always request for my daughters referrals to be sent here! They are patient, caring, informative and very amazing with kids! My daughter had 3 cavities done in under 30 minutes. She didn't cry what so ever! I think I was more nervous then her! This place is the BOMB!!!! They go over everything with parent while child isn't around so that way it doesn't frighten the children to make their experience that much better. They dedicate their time to each patient they see!
