I had a mixed experience with Abrahams. I messaged them on social media and told them I had some…read morejewellery that needed to be professionally cleaned, boxed, and possibly appraised. They said they did all those services in-store, and the man I was going back and forth with was nice, so I went with them. The pieces I was going to bring were family pieces inherited from my late mother, so I was nervous about dealing with a company that ships things away to be appraised. I also liked the idea of supporting a local, family-run business. I set up an appointment for an evaluation. I had the jewellery in small plastic baggies because all of the original cases had been ruined by mold and mildew, which is why I wanted everything professionally cleaned and boxed. So, I get there, and take out the bundle of baggies with the piece on top being my great grandmother's 100 year old 'amethyst' brooch. The first words out of his mouth were, "Are you here to find out if these are real? Because they aren't." I knew it wasn't a real amethyst. I brought it to get it cleaned. Then he tossed my grandmother's necklace and earring set aside, declaring it to be costume jewellery. It's sterling silver, and I know that isn't nearly as valuable as gold, but it isn't junk either. Not to me, anyway. And besides, again, I brought it in for a cleaning. Needless to say, he didn't exactly make a great first impression. I ended up leaving three rings there for appraisal, and a bracelet that I wanted a charm added to. I brought all of my jewellery so he could tell me what should be appraised. I knew most things probably had more sentimental value than actual value. Probably the only other piece that I thought would be worth having appraised was the gold bracelet I had him add the charm to, but he didn't think it was anything special. Fine. At the very least, I had about a dozen pieces that I wanted professionally cleaned and boxed, but I changed my mind after his initial comment on my great grandmother's brooch. He may not have realized they were family pieces, and maybe the social media guy hadn't told him I wanted everything cleaned, but I feel like the brooch comment was uncalled for, no matter what. In the end, the appraisals were ready within a couple of days, and were better than expected. No problems there at all. At the evaluation, though, I felt like I was wasting his time with my junk.

Seeing that they got my bad review removed from google i'll post this here; I've had a lot of work…read moredone on jewellery in the from different places in the past. I took a ring in here a few months ago to get resized down a few sizes. This is the first time I've had to ask for the scrap gold back and, what they gave back to me was a joke. I've had rings sized down with smaller a band and have gotten a lot more scrap gold back then what I've received at this business. The woman that gave me that was dealing with me was talking to me like I was an idiot. Different wont be going back to this place and will not recommend this business to anyone.

It did need repair; however, at a fraction of the cost at first place. The workmanship at Miner's Den was excellent. Also, if you need a watch battery, Miner's Den donates the charge to charity. I took a rosary in for a small repair and was told there wasn't a charge. They have gorgeous jewelry both new and estate pieces. Plus, every time I go in I'm greeted by a friendly employee right away and asked what I need.

I have to say I'm shocked. First off, the woman helping us was extremely kind but basically kept telling me in a very beat around the bush type way that it wasn't worth resizing them and that they are fine as is. They quoted us around 220$ PER RING if we wanted them resized adding up to over 400$. I've never heard of such steep pricing for a resizing. I didn't agree with her recommendation considering i can barely get my rings on and off. We went elsewhere and ended up getting them resized for 80$ a piece, and to a more comfortable fit for my liking. Maybe miners den just didn't feel like doing it, I'm not sure but we won't be back based off this experience.
