Botched Watch Repair & Terrible Customer Service: TL/DR find…read morea different store if you are looking to have your watch repaired. In April I dropped my watch off here for repairs; the watch was running slow and the crown needed replacing. I was told that it would be ready in 3-4 weeks, which would allow me to retrieve my watch before I move out-of-state in June. However, the repair took longer than expected due to parts sourcing. While this was an understandable delay, I was not informed of any delays or repair updates; I had to continuously text and call the store asking for an ETA for the watch to be repaired. When I finally received the watch in July (two months after I had been told it would be ready), the watch was in a worse state than when I had dropped it off: the chronometer is offset by 2-3 seconds, the lower hand has fallen off of the face, and the self-winding mechanism is making scratching noises inside that watch that were not previously present. As I now live in Tennessee I contacted the store to ask for a refund: they refused without seeing the product (which I am unable to hand deliver and do not feel comfortable mailing them due to their poor customer service and botched previous repair) and told me "you have a warranty for this". For context, I've had this watch repaired multiple times over the years due to damage received while deployed or on exercise with the Marines; this is hands down the worst experience I've had with a repair shop.

Update 7/7/26: Shinola did eventually escalate my issue to…read moremanagement and offered a full replacement. They still lose a star for the unacceptable customer service runaround. Even if the industry standard now, I expect more from them as a Detroit Metro native. === Here is the alleged Shinola "Guarantee" in pictures. Sent a pre-auth form with picture requesting repair. They approved it as repairable and asked me to ship it at my expense. Weeks later, they said they would send it out of state to an expert for a 6-8 week repair. Then without further messaging, UPS returns it with a "Not Serviced" notice. The clearly outsourced Customer Service rep's response to costing me $15 in shipping for nothing? A 10% discount on my next purchase. The cobbler down the street ended up fixing it for $15. I hope this review does not cost Shinola much more than the $15 I wasted sending it to them. I hope so because I'm not vindictive. It would be a shame if a deceptive, flawed customer service procedure managed to DISGRACE and tarnish the image of Detroit further through DISGUSTING business practices. Hopefully, the 10% discount offer I will never use makes up for it.

BEWARE OF 4% PROCESSING FEE! I went in to get some…read morereplacement watch bands. Everything started out fine and the owner showed me a selection that were similar to the ones I needed replaced. He replaced them, as well as the batteries. When it came time to pay, he told me the amount and gave me a hand written invoice showing that same amount. I gave him my credit card, he gave me another receipt from the transaction, and I left. When I got in the car, I noticed that the amount on the receipt was about $4 more than what he told me, so I went back in to find out what happened. He proceeded to flip around a sign that said there is now a 4% processing fee due to inflation and said "Oops I forgot to turn the sign around." I generally like to support small businesses, but this guy is a liar, not to mention his store reeks of cigarette smoke. I will never return to this store again.
