Mr. Goldberg took on my Landlord-Tenant case and handled it using his expert knowledge of the law. Please let me note that my then 96 y/o mother was also a defendant in this eviction case. I found this firm via a google search and scheduled a 3:30pm appointment. I arrived about 3:25pm and a nice receptionist took my name and I took a seat. At about 4:00pm, someone came out -- the nice recepitionist was preparing to leave for the day -- and she told me that he was the attorney I would be meeting with. I got up and walked towards the attorney, expecting to meet with him them, however, the attorney then told me that he had just received a phone call that he needed to speak with someone -- I believe he said it was a judge -- at 4:15. I said ok, and assumed, mistakenly, that he would speak with me now until then. That was not the case. Was I expected to return to my seat and hope that the other meeting that would begin at 4:15 wouldn't last too long? My appointment was at 3:30. I had a work call myself at 5:30 and so I decided to leave. The nice receptionist soon joined me in the lobby elevator to tell me that they had found someone to speak with me right now. The person I spoke with lived up to my expectations, by now, very low expectations of this firm: she had no information about me or my issue/case and, though pleasant, it was clear that she was just being a team player and had a 10 minute conversation with me. And then she had me leave via another door in the back that led straight to the elevator bank -- likely to ensure that I didn't encounter any other prospective clients. That was the smartest and most strategic move I saw at this firm. I should have read the other reviews before I wasted an afternoon. Extremely rude, doesn't listen to you and makes assumptions that are non-existent, and puts you down disbelieving what you are saying making it sound like they are doing you a great favor. I couldn't finish one sentence to answer questions which were asked like the Gestapo style. Mr. Lindenberg was the rudest I have ever seen, and made me waste my time to go to his office to ask me 3 or 4 questions, and he misrepresented the law to me. They advertise everywhere but they don't seem to need any business when you get in touch with them. They made me go to their office in person for a "free" consultation *twice* only to end up without a lawyer. The first time my consultation lasted 5 minutes and I was told to come back with the right documents. When I tried to book a second appointment they could only see me 10 days later. Worst firm in NYC It is a boiler room for robbing cheating and lying to poor innocent people. Walk into this firm your name will be added to their victims list. Four years of wasted time. Pain and suffering that goes along when you walk thru the doors of this firm is just unbelievable. Do not do it. Four years and no court date. I went to them for a small claims case. An easy simple case 1 2 3 case. A two yr old could of handled it. What a mess they made. They threw me into civil court with no new fee arrangement. Then started sending me bills once or twice a year with the small claims contract dated and thousands of dollars that i owe them. Discovery: Goldberg had me sitting in the reception room for more then two hours. I left at 5- 7:30 pm. He called me he is sorry. I got the discovery, I want to look at it. He never looked at. I went to the office to look at the discovery Alan Goldberg walked in and bullied me into paying him $500. Meanwhile, the whole time I had a small claims contract with the firm. I paid them $500. The middle section of the contract $250 per hr and 27% they take out of the winnings is crossed off and initialized. I had to get my own discovery and on top of that they never sent me a copy of it. Plus the most important discovery they never got. Thrown out by the other side. Man cannot even read or write a letter. Alan Goldberg then bulled me into $750 if i did not pay he was dropping me. I am in court and he dropped me. I had no choice but to pay. Eight months later i get a bill saying thank you for payment plus I owe them another $1500 citing my small claims contract. Alan Goldberg stands outside the office thinking about how much money he should charge you and then he walks in and tells you that you owe him $750, etc. It is the most unbelievable law firm in the city. It is a boiler room. Could careless about you. All Alan Goldberg cares about is how much money he can get out of you. Four years and still no court date. I get a call in December 2014, I am getting you a court date. It is now April 2015. I get a call you should come by and sign a piece of paper to restore my case. I dropped them. If I get a bill from them which of course I am expecting i am putting it in my file to give to the grievance committee. Chasing after the t call you back. Months I will call you back Month and months go by I spent about 80% of my time making phone calls only to be told that I will call you back. If you walk into this office you are committing suicide. they cannot even read or write a letter. You should read the misspelling of names and punctuation mistakes. This is a law firm? legal documents go in and out of their office and they cannot even spell your name correctly. The most incompetent law firm in the city. I have spoken to other atty's and they all have told me that they know about this firm. I have had quite a few clients come to me to get them out of the mess Alan Goldberg's firm got them into. All of them are crooks. The firm should be shut down for unethical practices. The committee: atty fee disputes told me that they have heard of the firm. I wonder why? Do not walk into this firm. If you do you are making the biggest mistake of your life. This firm has cost me thousands of dollars. It is an embarrassment to let the other side know that you are being represented by them. You are being misrepresented by them. This firm is nothing but a boiler room that robs cheats and lies. I can't believe that they are still in business. Shut down this firm now. Poor communication. After 6 weeks called to find out status of my case. Ms Alexander said had papers on her desk in front of her and were going to be sent out. Two weeks later still no papers. Sent 2 faxes to her and all three partners asking for refund of my $2000 retainer. She said she was going on vacation and would have to wait till she returned. Got a response from Mr Scuderi. Called Mr. Scuderi for 5 days left voice mails. He return my call the following week saying he was waiting for Ms alexander to return from vacation. Told him he could have had his secretary call and tell me that. I asked if he received my 2 faxes he said he only got one. I said "so you don't get any communications via fax from clients?" he stated "They go into a file." They were going to charge me 3 hours @ $250 per hour for work done. I said what work? She said to prepare the papers, that I never received and take not 5 minutes to insert names to a document, research, of which I gave her all pertinent information, phone calls I made to her to ask the status of my case and "I had to pay to find out the status of my case!" She never called me until I requested the refund. It was agreed by Mr. Scuderi to deduct 1 hour plus a partial hour. It is now more than 4 weeks since that phone conversation and still no papers or refund. Have sent 2 faxes stating still no refund. I believe that I will never see either. read more
